Man, this is a big phone

The attached PDF file contains an actual sized photo of the Galaxy Nexus. Print it out see how big it is for yourself. Make sure you select "Page Scaling: None" when you print. Lay your current phone down next to it for a size comparison.

This thing dwarfs my Droid Eris!

My Droid 3 is smaller, but within workable size.

In my mock-up pics all 3 phones have the same sized screen, even the smallest one! I just shaved off the non-screen bezels.

Yes I see that. What I meant to say is that I like the more square-ish shape of your smallest render model with the slight arches better than the original curvacious design. That's just me though. You are a forward thinker I think!

I't was more of a happy accident. The strange shape it took on did start to grow on me. I really like how Motorola has made the new Xooms, RAZR, and the leaked Droid 4 with a similar shape (the funny angled corners). Maybe Samsung will adopt the my new design? ;)

Wear bigger pants

Why didn't I think of that? Such a simply solution. Thanks.

I just ordered 20 pairs of this:

Hopefully, it's big enough to house the GNex. Got my fingers crossed.

I've gotta say, I am actually surprised how small this phone is. I printed out the .PDF image with no scaling, and it's only slightly bigger than my Nexus S. I figured it would be much larger than that.

Nexus S - 63mm x 123.9mm x 10.88mm
Galaxy Nexus - 67.94 x 135.5 x 8.94 mm

The difference is pretty minimal, as you can see up above.

For those that want a visual comparison:

I also included the DX and D3, which are the two android phones I've owned. To do your own visual comparison click on this link.

Holy crap at how thick the Rezound is. It's literally almost twice as thick as the RAZR, that's way way way worse than any length or width could be to me.

HTC doesn't care about making slim phones like Samsung or Motorola. I can accept that if they put big enough battery there, not like 1620mAh in Rezound.

the HTC is much shorter and "I think" less wide then the other two.

I'm actually a little concerned up the length of the GN its a very long phone...

Thanks for the link. I used it to compare the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Note, and the Galaxy S (my current phone to get some perspective). :)

I hope not, I don't like the corners on the new Moto devices.

Remember this thread. One day Sammy is going to make their design more like yours I guarantee :D

Dimensions on paper can look very deceiving. For Moto and Samung phones they usually ignore the humps. For HTC phones, they don't account for the rounded/tapered/ridged backs, which make them look and feel thinner than they really are. That's why I'll still checkout all of the new upcoming phones in person before making my decision.

For example, before I got the D3, I compared it to the Incredible 2 because they were both 4 inch global phones, which is what I wanted. The Inc2 is listed as 12mm thick while the D3 is listed as just 1mm thicker. But when you compare the two phones in person at a Verizon store side-by-side, it isn't even close. The Inc2 looks and feels so much thinner than the D3.

Also remember, the Verizon version of the GNex will be slightly thicker (my guess is around 10mm) than the 8.94mm of the GSM version.

Still, I was worried that at 13.65mm the Rezound might be too thick for me. So for comparison, I went and checked out the T-bolt today, which is almost as thick at 13.2mm. Felt pretty good to me.

That's some valid point. But those humps on Moto and Samsung phones are near top or bottom of back and occupy pretty small area. HTC phones are fat in the middle and that's pretty wide. So comparing the thickness in the middle of phone, HTC is way thicker. Also factor in the extended battery which you most likely need for more than medium usage, then Rezound thickness would grow even further.

What could have been...

Note that the screens are all the same size in all images. The smallest phone could be a bit curvier, but there's a limit to my photo editing skills (and my lunch break).

Maybe I am the only one but the 2nd and 3rd look ugly. The 3rd looks too much like the bb storm.

It's honestly just unacceptable to me to be that big anymore. I'm using a Continuum right now (what a nightmare that is) and it drives me nuts. If the RAZR wasn't a Moto, I would by it.

phone won't be that big guys. no physical buttons means more screen real-estate without making the phone bigger. it will be about the same size as a thunderbolt

I got my S2 almost 2 wks ago - came from a Blackberry Curve.

Initially I was like - WOW, this phone is wayyyyyy to big. After using it for a bit, you get used to it. My wife just got an Iphone last night and just messing around with her phone a little bit, cannot stand a small phone - sooooo happy with my S2 :D.

Everyone is different, however, some may not like. I likey,

If you think this one is big, check out the Galaxy Note. Personally 5" screen is about right for me, 4" is hard to touch type with the small keys.

Same here! I have the Dell Streak (original 5" screen, tablet/phone combo) and the Galaxy Note will be my device's successor. Like you, I cant go back to using any device with a smaller screen...

This is the perfect size for me! Lots of "screen estate" and typng on screen is easier... And I once hated deviices with no physical keyboard.

You may not notice it. Good for you. But size matters to me. And I'm sure it matters to others as well. Everyone has their limit. And this phone may be just be on the wrong side of mine. I had a droid x too and while I got used to the size, I never lost sight of the fact that it was a big phone, especially compared to what was out at the time it launched.

There's a zillion other great new Android phones to choose from...and that's the beauty of Android, isn't it? If we were having this conversation about the iPhone4S, you'd be s##t out of luck.

Myself, I've always wanted as much screen as I can fit in my pocket. My OG Droid started feeling cramped quite a while ago.
