Root [Merit] Complete ZTE Merit Guide: Root, Flash Recovery and Install New ROM (with links)

Yes, a stock Merit backup would be greatly appreciated by the community (especially us devs who get asked all the time for a stock image).

If someone could explain to me how to copy it or send it too you, I will :) as a thanks for all the help, it's just I still can't get my camera app to work again, and I'm also not sure what a rom is exactly or how to get it onto my merit

I did.

To backup with CWM go to Backup and Restore/Backup. Then go back to your PC and copy the file from your SD card just in case. The file be in sdcard/clockworkmod/backup & be 2012-**-**.****** (the * means it will be different depending on the date probably time & so on).

Get that far then PM me & we'll talk about posting. ;-)

One more tip. The ZTE Merit doesn't float very well but sure can hold a lot of water in its case. :-)

Seems to work better after a washing tho.

Did you delete the e-mail app? The stock camera needs it to operate.

Yes if you can upload your stock rom it would be very much appreciated indeed. I failed to do that before putting on one.three and I would like to have the stock for a backup.

If you do this, please pm me the link. sendspace.org is a good place to upload to btw.

If I download it is it okay to delete the stock camera to free up space or should I just leave it? and what other stock apps are safe to uninstall

It is OK. I like a lot of it but I liked the stock in other ways. Run the stick a while before changing to see which once you like better. stock & root is different then just root.

On the one.three the volume buttons are on and I checked settings, it's just not making any type of noise at all for notifications or for calls, is there any way to fix this?

I assume your talking about messages. just go to text messages then hit the menu button. You will tap settings, go to notifications, & mask enable.

I did that and went to general settings, but the notification ringtone and phone ringtones will not play when getting a text or when just opening them to hear what they sound like

Edit: is there anyway to get back to the regular rom? I tried rebooting into recovery but it isn't recognized as a valid command

The files you sent me is your a stock ROM. Leave then in the folder with the date name.

You probably just have one of the stings wrong for the one.three ROM.

Do I just delete the one.three rom off my phone then reboot?

Edit: I clearly just messed it up because I deleted the one.three folders off the F drive, then factory reset it, now it still shows up the one.three rom, the volume works now, but now I don't think I have root because it won't let me install root uninstall

If you do a restore from the stock files it should remove the other ROM. You will be testing this theory tho because I don't know anyone that has done it.

Okay I got it to work, I didn't open superuser first, the only thing I don't like is the keyboard guessing the words I want to type, and there's no way in settings to shut that off

I use Touch Pal. It has a few bugs in it but is almost flawless in text.

I have her stock ROM give me a few days to clean it up & make sure it works then I'll upload it.

for those having problems getting the su to register this is how i got it to work.first mount your sd on to your computer, then copy your adb file and paste it to the root of your sd,next copy the su file on to the root of your sd card as well.after that.right click anywhere in your sd folder and click "open command window" then do the commands adb remount, adb push su...etc. and it works perfect. thats how i got it to work anyway.hope this helps:D

put the su file in the root of your sd and then copy your adb file and put in there as well.right click anywhere in your sdcard folder and open command window then proceed with the commands above adb remount, adb push su/system...etc and it worked like that for me.hope it helps
