Metro Just pushed a firmware ans OS update

Ahh that's right. I'd be going to GSM from CDMA. I think the Sim cards are like $10 at Metro. I'd just have them do it. (I think it is only $3 for swapping in a new phone anyways out here.)

My question I guess is the guys at Best Buy are going to insist I get this L90 activated on T-Mobile before I leave the store. I have no desire to be on their $50 plan. Not to mention the Metro store is just down the street from me. (Closest T-Mobile is next city over.)

Can't I buy this phone un-activated with NO T-Mobile Sim card or service, walk into Metro and go, "Here, turn me on?"

Give it. A look if it's like online for 180 then they most likely won't push it

Push it?? You mean activation?? Just called the local BB and they said I had to activate it with the choice of carriers for that model. (only T-Mobile)

Odd. Anyone bought or know of any LG L90 on Metro's Service yet?

After looking at T-Mobiles website and their bring your own phone deal I went looking on Metros site for the same thing. I couldn't find it.

HOWEVER

I did stumble upon this:

and then I got this when searching the Optimus L9.

Congratulations! Your LG Optimus L9 is compatible.

Now all I have to do is buy one without the T-Mobile Contract or Sim card. I'd hate to have to activate it at BB or a T-Mobile just to drive across town and have Metro reactivate it on their end of the now T-Mobile network.

(Talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing!)

Any Ideas??

I just looked at it online on best buy same price no idea if online will require also tmobile has no. Contracts you could get her there or wait just a couple of months for something else. With lte

LG optimus L9 is NOT the same as L90. I am using an LG Optimus L9 and it sucks. If you get an L90 from T-Mobile, that should work.
 
"If you like your phone, you can keep your phone..." I guess Obama is not the only liar in town. Anyway, I think that once the shut downs begin (and I still think it will take a lot longer and just slowly fade) Metro (aka T-Mobile) will give some great incentives to switch over to their GSM network. Now for the next headache, Sprint will take over T-Mobile and then have to convert everybody back over to their CDMA network.

I would not downgrade from a phone like the Motion that already has LTE capability to one that does not. It would be slower, and even with a update it still may not be as good.

Sprint can't buy tmobile and the current owner of sprint isn't looking to pay a breakup fee, and that saying I am pretty sure for those trying to bring their own devices. And I agree if you want lte get an lte device. My advice drop the motion pick up a cheap device with lte from att unlock it be happy.

When I upgraded from the Motion to the Spirit I was able to keep my $30.00 Promo plan.

Best to ask first in case they have changed that policy though.
 
No changes as far as I can tell. My guess is that they're trying to send out updates to destroy our old phones so we have to buy new ones, but I haven't noticed any negative effects yet except my battery draining faster, but that may be coincidence.

I agree there, but they're not going to purposely push an update that ruins our phone (I remember hearing about an update that did some harm but can't remember what phone it was for and they pushed out another update to fix that).

Ahh that is correct! The LG L9 is NOT the LG L90. That's what I get for researching phones late at night!

I actually drove to a Best Buy today and talked to a guy seemingly in "The Know".

He said that he hadn't even seen any of the LG L90's and that he wasn't going to be getting any in if T-Mobile was continuing on their current game plan which is to only offer 3-4 T-Mobile phones in-store with PrePay plans. So I then asked to see the LG L70 and it was the same story. BB is only going to offer very limited in-store models for prepay carriers going forward.

I just may have to do some legwork this week and visit some T-Mobile and MetroPCS stores in person and see what the heck is going on. At least I'll see what my current choices are!

The BB guy did say to Not even bother getting a phone that wasn't LTE capable because great things were coming for that technology. (I did mention the latest Motion update and subsequent speed increase and he just smiled and nodded.) What he's doing working at a BB is beyond me. He seemed to give off the appearance of a tech student at one of the Boston universities. He knew about all there was to the current phones out there and heard my cry for internal storage.

I'll keep looking though and hoping something comes along. just what is Metro's cheapest LTE phone these days?

Yea, I wouldn't want a non-LTEe capable device either after finding out my phone could have faster internet speeds than my home's ISP. F3/F6 have LTE, but barely any storage...only like 1GB of storage for apps is all it has, the other 3GBs are used for the stock ROM. I think it's just time to buy a nice phone that's unlocked and bring it to metro.
