Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] A firmware update was just released.. 2.99 mb big, wtf???

Yea i agree i dont have time to be talking to my phone just to google something up i think lazy people do that plus when your driving you either have music playing or have car window down so chance of google now hearing what your asking is slim...

You're all referring to Google voice search.. Not Google now

You've been able to voice search since at least GB....

no google now does the same exact thing :D i cant take a pic of it also most of us are on jellybeans so when u press that mic on the search bar we get google now and not google search ;)

Hitting the voice search widget and talking to it is the voice search aspect.

Google now is the location based cards. Access it by either hitting the google application in your app drawer or in the drop down notification pane during relevant cards

on bb7 on 4.2.1 seems its all together i press that mic icon and google now starts up and once i talk to it does the searches anyways i believe on jellybeans they took google now and google search and made it one function but yea i dont use it much i prefer old manual way of searching :D seems google now has just some other features just for stuff like sports and traffic and what not probaly.

The difference is you aren't asking for it. Everything about Google now shows up on its own based on your location and preferences. That's the whole point of the "now" aspect ;)

My point to all of that was, you can't say you don't like google now because you don't like talking to your phone, as with google now you aren't supposed to be talking to it.

Good point I particularly love Google now not to talk to it all the time but in some occasions I ask for scores or something quick I think the search options got more personal Google now tracks your emails and appointments and things of that nature this is not to talk to but more like a personal assistant

Should I perform the "Software Update"? Its in my notification bar, and doesn't want to go away :/

Has anyone done the OTA for the 2.9MB file for "Stability Issues" and lost ROOT?
I did and now my Titanium Backup Pro says
Could not get Root access
I rooted the phone a while back using the same thing for the Sprint GS3
and it worked
but now no root

Hey everyone
I did the OTA 2.9MB update and now I do not have root.
My TB Pro says Failed to get Root when doing the scheduled backups
but when I open Root Explorer it says granted superuser priv BUT now can not Mount R/W
and Root checked says not rooted
how can I re-root my phone?
I used GS3_debugfs-root-r2 last time (I think it was for the Sprint GS3) on my Macbook Pro with one click
Any help here please?
thanks

I had google now when I had my Nexus 7 and rarely used it.

I would be the same too if I had it on a tablet.

This is a phone though, so it could be a little bit more useful for directions driving and random information. Since this is a bit more portable I can find it useful on a phone a little bit more.

Although I wouldn't really use it personally, since I don't really care for talking to my phone for information, although it does display useful data and can give driving directions and check traffic quickly too.

oh... i dont drink mountain dew or play call of duty. hence why i thought there was someone else :P

no call of duty :O and no mountain dew? damn here i was thinking u was a hardcore gamer lol anyways back on topic i have had several people txt me saying they lost root but ive noticed nuttmeg didnt lose root or atleast he didnt say he did and mikey didnt either but either way for those of you that lost root try to re-root the same way ya did before. i did noticed when mikey flash the stock tar beacause he wanted a stock back up since he deleted his by accident that i had to go through the rooting process atleast 5 times before it actually worked not sure if it had anything to do with the update or just that auto root batch script isnt so stable to begin with lol. anyways let us know guys.

Thanks shabby for that method i overlooked that one since you rooted my phone for me and installed twrp lol anyways guys im merging this thread with the previous thread about the ota :D anymore questions please dont hesitate to ask!
