Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] [HOWTO][ROOT]Automatic Root for SGSIII

Thank you, but I have a question: is the Odin method going install ClocKworkmod Recovery. Because I don't want to change anything on my s3 except for ROOTING, AD FREE, TETHERING. I would like to stay with the stock system. Also I don't want anything to do with ClocKworkmod I had on my lg esteem and it cause problems with when I reset my cel.

If you don't want CWM then use the one in the first page of this thread. I haven't used it but I believe it only roots. Look at the 2nd or 3rd post for the simplifided instructions.

Btw for future reference if you have cwm or any other custom recovery installed and want to reset your phone, you must do it in recovery. Doing it from the phone settings can sometimes cause problems.

What Android Application, if created, would make your mobile dreams come true? Please nothing ridiculous like, "you press a button and an uber hot chick pops out of the battery pack and is automatically in love with you."

Lets hear them!

I'd love an Android application that could allow you to use your phone as a remote control to change television stations. That would be SIIIIICK. Problem would be if you can go into someone else's house and change THEIR stations.

I think the "receiver" would need to be bluetooth enabled since I don't see phones being able to send infrared signals anytime soon. I guess the key here is actually having a RECEIVER that has the technology. The application is probably the easy part.

How cool would it be if you could use your phone to take video that automatically streams - and is saved to - your account on a website? People could browse by users, locations, etc... and see who is currently "phonecasting" video and watch them live.

This could be crazy if people take their phones into sporting events, concerts, etc... and you can browse streams by location... you could potentially pinpoint events going on and see video streams from people filming at the event with their phone.

Pretty crazy if you ask me. And very doable.

So you're walking along... but wouldn't mind hopping on a bus, catching a metro, jumping in a cab, etc... what is the QUICKEST or CHEAPEST way from point A to B?

This app would list all your options with distance, time, price and more. Supposing you select "bus" it would then help you navigate to the closest bus stop. It might also alert you to where the closest cab is or even connect you directly to a cab company who would instantly come to the GPS location referred to them.

When you buy something, you scan the receipt and can manage your expenses and accounting OH so easily. You'd also have permanent records if the IRS comes knocking on the door.

As you're on your trip you take pictures, type using a full qwerty keyboard, etc... and a LIVE journal is kept with features such as GPS location, time of input, etc to create a more dynamic "live journal"

Actually this just sounds like posting to wordpress from your phone with your location auto-filled via GPS hahahaha not really that exciting.

Real quick when I first rooted I used the goo method which install twrp which was easy but I'm curious now after reading this post right now I'm stock rooted when I want to play with the roms I access twrp trough quick boot which then puts me on recovery I use quick boot since it's only a click away instead of doing volume up and power option as far as I understand
When been stock rooted there's no way to get into recovery like we do with the roms am I right or wrong?

You are right. On stock you will need a rebooting app such as quickboot to boot into recovery. If you have rom manager, rom toolbox, or goomanager installed (you should have one of those at least) they do the job too which means one less app (quickboot) to clutter your drawer. :)

Edit: romtoolbox pro now have goomanager included so it's really the only app you need. It's quickboot, rom manager, goomanager, theme engine, cpu clocker, ad free, and titanium backup all in one!! Best app ever.

My only works on the actual motherboard usb ports on the computer. The front panel doesn't work properly for me.

giving that a try now, it is in process but appears to be doing the same (see below)

Make sure to decompress the file before doing the root process, i.e do not run it from within the archive.
also, make sure that usb debugging is enabled on your device.
lastly, please try the rooting process from an administrative account, or use UAC to gain administrative rights on the computer while running the script.

Done done and done...still no dice...so frustrated! I have been flashing phones sice the bad old WM days...this process is soooo easy and yet it just wont work...arrrg!

It definitely seems like my phone is not communicating properly with my computer....

Double checked; USB debugging is enabled and unknown sources is enables, also the disable debugging on lockscreen is not enabled.

I rooted my wifes lg motion 4g and it went swimmingly, I actually uninstalled that usb driver just in case it was giving me grief...no such luck...I have uninstalled and reinstaled the driver, redownlaoded it...sooo frustrating

Now on her lg whenever I plug in a usb cable from a computer I get a popup on my dashboard (forget technical term for that menu that pulls down from the top) saying that usb debugging is working but I don't see one on my s3...I wonder if there is some issue with my usb debugging even though it is enabled...or with the usb driver...arrg!

Good point!
I forgot to emphasize this! You must use the Samsung provided usb cables or it won't work.
Samsung phones have a hardware difference in their usb implementations.
There's a piece that it is in the cable instead of on the phone, if that makes sense...

The root method in the op is only approved for us versions. I have no idea what havoc it would wreck on the international version.

Got this phone the same day it became available on the Metro site, and today I finally rooted it. I really found no reason to root it since it works perfectly. But just wanted to root it since its available. Worked flawlessly. Thanks for this :D
