Urgh, this is driving me crazy. I backed up some apps and data with Titanium Backup Pro, and now I can't use Titanium Backup to restore the backups without root access.I'm waiting as well I want to re root as well to debloat my phone
the S3 toolkit will root your phone according to another user in the Metropolis thread.Urgh, this is driving me crazy. I backed up some apps and data with Titanium Backup Pro, and now I can't use Titanium Backup to restore the backups without root access.
So there is a way to root stock on 4.1.2?ok seems shabby has cleared some confusion up with rooting 4.1.2 he confirmed indeed u can root 4.1.2 but still require you to use odin but instead of flashing a tar you will be flashing the root zip i believe not sure which is that but he said it was possible.
is there an update on rooting 4.1.2?Please link me to the correct method...thank you kindlyok seems shabby has cleared some confusion up with rooting 4.1.2 he confirmed indeed u can root 4.1.2 but still require you to use odin but instead of flashing a tar you will be flashing the root zip i believe not sure which is that but he said it was possible.
Tried rooting my Metro S3 with DebugFSroot_generic. Root failed X4. Message reads "your device region may not be supported" I'm in the US so I should not need to change my CSC code. Then I tried using Unified Toolkit V7.0 from MSKIP on XDA developers. The MetroPCS version is 4.0.4, but my phone is running 4.1.2. Directions do say you can use the higher version, so I tried the AT&T 4.1.1. I achived root, bu lost my connectivity to the network. Frustrated (nothing good can come from this, right?) I tried one of the only LTE 4.1.2 versions available. This one International LTE... Yes, my phone appears to be bricked since it won't turn on and all I get is the "SAMSUNG" logo.
Am I totally screwed here or is there any hope of recovery? HELP!
I can't boot into recovery. All I get is the logo.
Got CWM. Installed SuperSU-v0.96+.zip from SD card. - all good. Pressed reboot. Nothing.
Tried again. Waited. Nothing, just the logo. Any suggestions please?
Btw that thread really needs an update to make it more clear, and the root method is only labled as recovery so I can't even blame all the newbies for being so confused. =/
:O so theres a few questions i wanna ask u. what variant of the gs3 do u have and which method worked for u?
I have the Klingon MkXIV variant, with Class III disruptors. (it was an aftermarket option, and I know that Ferengi charged me double )
Okay, Okay - enough with the serious crap... I'll be the first to answer Brother N4zty's question;
Personally, I have the U.S. MetroPCS variant, with the dual core S4 Snapdragon.
I used the RootDebugfs.bat method to obtain root, and installed TWRP as my System Restore.
Class???
(sorry Nasty... I couldn't help myself. )
(\/)-Live Long And Prosper lol also that old way isnt as easy as the way shabby posted. it took 5 tries for me to root mikey's phone and it took me 3 tries with another friend of mine. but only takes 1 try to do it with shabby's odin way and it quicker.
