Root MikG v3.0 Final Release

I'm thinking this has to be a wakelock issue. Mik didn't change the kernel, that's the same. Only way one update to another would crush your battery is runaway apps, imo.
Unless of course aamikam included a custom kernel, which is very out of character.
Optimizations and speed won't kill your battery, overclocking and wakelocks/awake times will. ;)
My .02

For the others you are probaly right The difference im noticing is on 2.61 by this time i would have around 45% left Right now im at 29% so a little difference but not huge. Im just waiting for the battery to get below 5% to go back to a full charge and go from there.

let those kernels settle! Even if you are running the same as on mikg 2.61 it will need to settle again. I asked chogard on xda this exact question and he said that yes, it would need to settle. So give your kernel a few days to settle in before you go flashing other kernels. Day one on chop suey netted me 8 hours of battery with one hour of screen time and 2 hours of Google music. Much much better today with maybe 2.5 hours of screen time and the same or more music. Be patient!

I'm on 2.59 with More-Freedom kernel and was wondering if I should just skip 2.61 and go right to 3.0. Sounds like the speed increase is worth it.

Why not flash 2.61, make a nand backup, then try 3.0? If you don't like it you can just restore your backup, OR, if you do like it but not enough to use for your daily driver, create a nand backup of 3.0 and toggle between 2.61 and 3.0.

MikG 3.0 is virtually the same as 2.61 other than some added tweaks that have increased load speed(at least for me) and given alot of other options under settings. I have been using this since it was released and have no issues at all with it thus far(and really didn't expect any).

Same here and after battery calibration thats great too.

Dood, you're right!

I forgot to ask if he let it settle. :o

The first charge cycle or two after a rom flash will give you poor battery. Andy taught me that exact fact on the old Hero.

This also holds true if you flash a kernel. The phone needs to "learn" the new kernel which directly relates to the battery.

Good call Mizz! ;)

his roms are always the shit. very stable and fast. i didnt know he was updating to 3.0 last time i used it it was on 1.59 i think. might have to flash to him for a minute.

Glad to see that it helped. I don't really understand how you can run a kernel/rom combo, then flash a rom update with the same kernel and then need to let it re-settle, but I guess if it works, it works.

It doesn't look like there was a changelog put out with the new beta, but here is the general idea of it from a post by mik in the same thread:

Ok guys... Just a quick update...
So far I added to tweaks rosie trans bg, 5 columns, depaginated drawer, HTC kb toggle for the arrows, inverted system UI(black or semi trans) fixed up the looks a lil.
Also added a shut phone down to the boot menu, hide alarm clock fixed some links and added auto hot boot to the tweaks that need it.
I got the list from jade of what u guys want.. some is doable, some will take forever to do.
My thoughts are to add more lockacreens kinda like what mikfroyo had with the 4 diff tabs... But we'll see.
I will also add a ROM updater that will notify u guys of there is an update.
I think that's pretty much it.
I don't know what's up with the mms thing guys... Cuz I know it used to work but now it don't... I'll try to revert to sense 2.1 mms and see if that helps (just for testing for now btw).

Heh guys..... I just learned how to flash themes to my phone... :):):) the only problem i have now is findibg a theme that I like..... My ROM is mikg 2.61.... Can anybody help me ??

so hows MIKG 3.0 just flashed to CM7 from MIKG 2.61 then i saw this... gonna mess with CM7 for a couple of days then gonna check out MIKG 3.0

Chances are the themes would not work. They are usually made for a specific build. But you could always try it and see what happens. Just make a backup first.

if i flash to MIKG 3.0 is there themes for it ??? and could you use themes from 2.61 on them? just wondering!

The themes from 2.61 will most likely cause serious issues if you try them, the changes are too significant in v3 b2. But I'm happy without them right now, just playing with the tweaks! Between the inverted notification pull-down, to the options to change the app drawer (under the tweaks for rosie), and the skins by mpitcher and autogeek... there is plenty to play with until the final is released and the theming gets going again. :)

Do you guys think that going from MikG 3.0 B2 to the final release will require wiping/flashing?

I've been waiting for the official release as I do not like to wipe/flash often. I like a set-it-and-forget-it approach. If I can wipe/flash to B2, and then simply install a patch update when it's finalized, that would be the best for me. If this approach is not feasible, then I'll just wait until it's finalized, and wipe/flash once.

Also, can I save the battery stats file on my MikG2.61 and transfer it over to MikG 3.0?
