Root MIUI - Working Data & SMS. . .

Yeah, the no app drawer takes some getting used to.

After I set up some folders it really cleaned things up. So far I'm really diggin MIUI.

Anyone know how to get the home screen to scroll circular?

How do you open the browser in miui? I don't see a icon for it, but I know it is there because I linked to a web page through my email. I can't find it!

Nevermind, feel stupid because I didn't read the first post completely. A reboot and the icon appeared.

Been reading up on Rootz and XDA and seems like there are still too many bugs (compared to the lack of bugs (for me) in CM7) for me to switch over. Gonna wait until the audio issues get fixed and mms get fixed too. I want my wife to try this one one. She's been running the Espier launcher on her Zeus 1.1 ROM and I think that MIUI would be perfect for her.

There really aren't any bugs to speak of, I didn't have any missing apps, I use GO SMS or Handcent so the MMS thing isn't an issue.

I definitely recommend playing around with it. Daily driver status for sure.

I'm not a fan of the stock MIUI launcher and I was almost ready to flash back to LTB, then I loaded LP+ and WOW! It's going to take A LOT for me to leave MIUI now. UI is very sleek and it gives a whole new feel to the phone. Plus, as some of you know I like to theme and with MIUI you can theme everything, with the click of a button.

I honestly never thought they'd get RIL working, but I am so glad they did. This is a fantastic ROM. I never thought anything would pull me away from Cyanogen, but this very well could (I still get my CM7 fix on my Touchpad) :p

There are no audio issues. Audio is actually louder on MIUI than CM

MMS and Wireless tether is fixed and a new build with them included will be uploaded soon (maybe tonight)

Have you heard anything about call settings getting fixed?...only thing holding me back...I want to use google VM.

I find the most amazing thing to be the customization options that are available without having to add files or flash something in. I've changed my tune a bit from earlier - I'm starting to like this more and more.

Just a heads up. Version 3 with the bug fixes I listed a couple posts above is going to be released in about an hour according to DroidVicious

Another fix - "LTE Settings fix will be available in stable 3 which will be available very shortly courtesy of @erishasnobatter"

How did you change the settings to use GV instead of Verizon voicemail? the call settings app is borked. Is it somewhere else?

Those settings never worked for me on CM either, when I get to the VM setup part I click the "skip" button and I've never gotten anything but GV VM's. No stock notifications either. I just tried making a call using my GV number and that works as well

Well I am with Worm here. I don't believe I will be leaving MIUI anytime soon, after loading up GO Launcher (sadly I can't get Launcher Pro to work correctly) to work how I want it, this ROM is perfect.

So many little fun tweaks that I can do. CM9 may be able to, though. ;)

I had just been changing the settings instead of resetting up gv. It worked for me on cm7...you just have to do it twice. It has been so long since I set up gv I forgot it had a setup, lol.

Edit: G'dam multidownload is slow.

Well...I think I am hooked. Once I get my apps organized a bit I think I can live with the no app drawer. Everything else is just too good.

Not thrilled about going back to setcpu. Is there a control extension that adds overclocking?

Ok, all the excitement has me curious so I'm downloading now. Never ran MIUI before.

Its beautiful! Takes a little time getting used to, but after a day, and a few folders its just lovely.

Don't think ill be straying anytime soon.

I think it may be worth it just for the superior theme support.

Also, just for the record, GV voicemail works just fine if you just do what WormDoes said (not that you should doubt the Worm).

Does anyone know if theming on MIUI is the same or close to the same as theming for CM7. Before I decide to flash this I would like to make sure I will be able to theme it to my liking, it seems to me it shouldn't be much different but I seem to recall something a while back I read on XDA that I can't find right now.

I am talking about theming framework myself not choosing between themes made by others, so Worm or Thats please speak up :D

It's not as easy as CM. Lot of extracting, converting, etc. I have been trying to whip up my own theme and it's proving rather difficult. I'm sure once I get the first theme done it'll become easier and easier, but as of right now I'm stuck.

Luckily, there is so much control on what you can theme that I'm content. For example, check this out for what can be themed at the click of a button

Yeah I know what you can theme via the UI itself and it is a lot easier than CM in that aspect but I am more worried about the FW editing. I think it has more to do with .9 pngs than most other roms IIRC and that means a lot more XML editing/trial error

Yea, it's definitely more complicated. Dealing with mtz's are no fun. I just meant it wasn't a top priority for me because there's so much mixing and matching to keep me busy for a while

Surprisingly pretty good.. Or better than I thought with a brand new release.

With 5.0.3 I'm getting better battery life compared to Liquid 3.1. Same stuff syncing, and actually more widgets running right now.

Now take that with a grain of salt, this release was pushed about 24hrs ago. Add in the updates seem to be coming fast and furious, about to post the 2nd update already. Having time to calibrate and let the kernel settle is going to be difficult until things slow down.

I've been getting great life on Zoom kernel. I literally didn't move off 31% early for 5 hours. I'm not fabricating that either, literally 5 hours, and I was using the phone a good amount too. Once this kernel settles in I expect big things
