Root motorola clarifies stance on bootloaders

you can pretty much do anything you want with your device. we can skip around the bootloader now to overclock and under volt so the bootloader crack in many aspects is not relevent.

I had been a WinMo person before, the best phone I had there was the HTC TouchPro 2. This is my first Android phone and I am amazed by what it can do. Out of the box the X killed my customized TP2 in every way possible. I looked at the Incredible since it was unlocked unlike the X. However the build of the phone that Motorola had made was FAR superior to that of the Incredible. With a little over 6 months of use the phone still looks new!!! This is the best built phone I have ever had. Motorola builds great products, IMO the best on the market.

If this is true and they will work with developers I have no problem with this. I am not a developer, I learn enough to play with and install what others have done. I agree with Tom, I have my phone rooted, overclocked, under volted, with a custom ROM on it. I am sure some of these developers could make a kick butt kernel for us, but I am happy with what I have.

If Motorola puts out the best phone when I am looking to get a new one (I am happy with the X right now and nothing new is blowing it away for me) I will get another one. Now if the phone is locked down to the point where you can not even root it and get a custom ROM, that is a different story.

All I know is that doesn't hold up with the thousands of us that would love to have the freedom of our device.

Moto doesn't really care about thousands...

now, if that were tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, like those who bought the X, then they would care a little more

maybe. *shrugs*

what is the point of them locking the bootloader? whats it matter to them what we do with our phones? always wondered that.

but i agree with the other guys, mines rooted overclocked with a rom im pretty happy with that.

they lock it so if you somehow brick it, or break something you cannot flash it back to stock and then claim its a motorola error. i see there reasons for locking it, but it does void our warranty when we do stuff like this, but it is so easy to revert it back to stock.
moto is not an evil company, they almost went bankrupt, and android brought them back into everyones good graces with there superb technology in phones, the locked bootloader was a mistake they made and we hope they wont make that again. but its like that saying
"wish for something in one hand, and shit in the other, see which one fills up faster"

There is an article over on droid-life about the droidX2, droid3 and Droid incredible2 that has a link
to a Motorola Get Satisfaction forum where people have complained about the X bootloader. Underneath it says "The company has this under consideration" and something about it already being implemented is stated elsewhere. I thought my fellow rooters would like to check it out

Federal Law now makes rooting completely legal.
Would like to se some more legislature where phone manufacturers are forced to implement a way AROUND the locked bootloaders.
Wishful thinking!

Looking forward to an official plan from Motorola on the bootloader issue.
We love your hardware, don't put the dev community in the gutter!

im sure most of you have seen this but i figured i would post it, in case others didnt know about it.

I guess this is clarity :(

o it must have been in a few posts on the others, i skim through, i never read all of it, cause reading is for rich people. so if a mod can delete delete delete be good ^_^
