My Droid is running at 1GHZ

I opted to go with Pete's Bugless, and then OC - so WiFI is fixed.

I uninstalled setCPU and will now reinstall it and see if it still gives me weirdness or not.

Best I have EVER come up with on this phone, on WiFi, was about 2.5 Mbps down and about 0.7Mbps up. I'm on Verizon Fios.

On WiFi: 8.92 Mbps down, 1.45 Mbps up

On 3G: 1.57 Mbps down, 0.75 Mbps up.

That's about a 75% increase for 3G (I have shitty signal at home).

I can't speak for WiFi speeds since I havent explored that yet, but with the stock processor speed, I've gotten 1.00 - 1.20 Mbps from the Manchester, NH server, depending on signal strength (and probably some other factors)

What speeds were you getting on 3G before you OCed?

You in NH or Mass? I have gotten up to 2.4Mbps from the Manchester server and 2.1 from the Boston server. I'm in north central MA, but grew up in Manchester/Goffstown.

Actually in CT, so I used the Boston and Manchester servers. Boston was a tad under 1Mbps while Manchester was at or over 1Mbps, stock processor speed.
 
Before this goes too far, I just want to point out that overclocking the Droid does NOT give you faster 3G speeds.

Any discrepancies you see between overclocked results and stock are because of signal differences or load on the network at the time you tested.

Thats exactly why I was asking folks about their pre-OC'ed speeds. It makes absolutely no sense as to why someone would be getting faster 3G speeds by overclocking. It all has to due to with signal strength and occasional "speed bursts" that you can get from VZW
 
I'm curious as to how folks who are overclocking have their SetCPU set-up, with regards to frequencies and profiles. I'd like to compare it to my stock configuration.

Yeah, I suppose I didn't make it clear enough that my weird speed boost was on a WiFi not on 3G in the other post.

Still, though, since I am on WiFi 80%+ of the time, the processing power speedup + connectivity increase means I have a shot at using the phone as my RDP device for my desktop and servers too - and *that* means I can stop having to get the lappy out for simple 2 minute jobs.

At any rate, It's nice having speed all around.

Here's mine: Bugless Beast 7.2 at 800 Mhz

Charging: 500max 125 min
sleep: 250 max 125 min
power: 800 max 500 min

Do you have the profiles in Setcpu enabled? I have Bugless Beast 7.2 at 800 mhz and i've never gotten above 95. I got up, briefly, to 97 while running at 1 Ghz with profiles enabled.
 
Mien is clocked to 1100mhz max 250min, for profiles I have 550max 125min for both charging and sleep/standby. I see no reason to have it oc'ed when sleeping as that would just get the thing heated up, and when it's charging I'm usually not using it, the only time I do is when I'm in the car using GPS and that gets it warm enough so no need to add to it with the oc, plus it runs fine at 550 when using Nav most of the time.

Careful with the sleep settings. It's all nice and dandy at 250/125...until you get a phone call. Then it takes 15 seconds to get the slider up and you've missed the call by then.

At least, it was in my experience. I just bumped it up to 550/125.

Wow. that one worried me. I had to get up and get another phone to call and try this. It seemed to work ok waking up from sleep at this level (250/125). I'll try it again a few times and see if it really is ok. thanks for the heads-up.

My battery life seems to be about the same. The rom I'm using is Bugless Beast 7.2 at 800 mhz and I used Setcpu to drastically underclock the phone at all times I'm not using it (sleep and charging). I guess due to the use of the underclocking I'm using less power then and that somewhat offsets the additional power I use while up and running.

When stock I always charged the phone each night and I still do the same. I never paid much attention to battery life because I've always been able to make a full day of it. I still do. that's all I need.

Honestly, I haven't noticed much of a difference at all. One day it seems better. And yesterday, it seemed worse. But I did a LOT of playing yesterday.

@ Psychokitty - PM me if you need some walk-thru help rooting, o/c'ing, ... whatever. ;)
 
Found the limit for my CPU... Spontaneous reboots at 1.1Ghz. Backed off to 950Mhz (cause I like the steps that Taz offered in the image). Bummer - but every CPU is different... Oh well, it's still plenty fast!
 
My Droid is overclocked to 1Ghz and stable for about 48 hrs now running Bugless Beauty 8.3

Set CPU profiles are similar to others and have worked fine for me.

Charging
550 Max
125 Min

Sleep/Standby
550 Max
125 Min

Power < 100%
999 Max
125 Min

No restarts, no issues, and my highest temp on the Battery Life Widget as well as the Sensor List app (which is in deg C) was 109 deg F. This was when I was running multiple apps and games...switching back and forth...just trying to make it heat up. Under normal use I have seen it operate in the 80-85 degree range. No concerns for me and I love the speed.

Set CPU definitely works well as coming out of a "sleep" mode, the phone is not instantly at full speed as I have noticed slight lag (the way the phone was stock) in unlocking the screen or on the first home page swipe. After that...it's blazing!:D
 
Is there any way to check to make sure SetCPU is underclocking when in sleep/standy?

I'm playing around with stock and oc'ed speeds to examine heat production on the battery and maybe I don't have SetCPU configured correctly, but I'm having a hard time getting it to run at 1Ghz unless I have the power profile activated. I thought the performance governor would do it in the absence of that profile being enabled but it doesnt.
