The more I read this crap the more I'm happy I got my Droid1™ for 149.99 at Best Buy

As one who keeps my phone in my pocket, the X is getting very large! Coming from my curve, the droid was larger (I wish it didn'thave the lip were the mic is), and now the X is still larger. The same res on a larger screen is nicer on the eyes, for the poster who is talking about read HD (1280x720), even on the X's screen, imagine how small things would be.
My future brother-in-law has a HTC HD2 (basically a WinMo EVO 4G, for those unfamiliar). While the display is great w/ that big screen, it was quite difficult to use w/ one hand, and forget about pocketability. The Droid X is even larger than that and I can't imagine what it'd be like to have to carry that around.

That locked bootloader is a 100% turn-off. I don't care how nice the phone is. Until that thing is cracked, I wouldn't even take it as a gift.

Eh. I'm happy with it. I thought it was too big at first but now I think it's the perfect size. And I don't care (right now) about locked boot loaders. Not even sure what that means exactly. All i know was the rooting was simple and I've been having so much fun with it even pre-root.![]()
For those missing a physical keyboard, you can always pair the phone to a Wiimote for emulators. Yes?
I'll affirm the fact that the locked-down bootloader makes me never want to get a Droid X.
My father will probably be getting one though. It's fine for him because he isn't much of a tinkerer and I don't think he wants to constantly update custom ROMs. That sort of thing will be a negative point for him rather than a positive one. Just having root and being able to run all the root apps should be sufficient for him.
Either way, it's disgusting how Motorola is taking an open-source operating system and locking it down like some crappy Apple product. Why not just make everything like the Droid, where it comes stock but it's a comparatively simple process to obtain root?
I mean honestly, how many people came into Verizon and asked for a replacement phone when their current one was rooted? Very few? Okay. Now how many of those replacements were actually needed because of root (ex: Not someone with a rooted Droid that had a wiggly headphone jack)? Probably none? I have never heard of anyone bricking their phone because of root.
I always said I'll be getting my next phone when LTE is on Verizon, but if Verizon doesn't have any non-crippled Android phones (and if they start to cap bandwidth), I might as well go get the EVO right now because Sprint is looking pretty good.
