I don't understand how socks "go missing". I just imagine that there's a door in there on the other side(side loading dryers) and certain socks are selected to enter Narnia.

They cling to the inside of your clothes until they see an opportunity to make their escape. I caught several in the act. One almost ready to jump(just barely hanging on to the inside of my shirt), another halfway to the door, and still another cowering in fear behind the dryer(it was a new sock and must not have gotten the scoop on how to escape from the older socks).Then there's the one's that try to run before you even get your clothes to the washing machine(I guess they can't handle the thought of getting washed just one more time,must be a pretty horrifying experience).

I've had approximately 4 or 5 clothes washings since the OP. I'm happy to say that I've matched every time (socks). We're good.
