Root Name your best feature of being rooted

pretty much what argedion is getting at. rooting basically puts you in control on how you want to use the phone.

1.flashing roms. they are two many to list but you could flash sense 2.1, 3.0 and now 3.5 roms. also we now have ICS roms coming out.
2.battery life. i'm getting 30-40 hrs of battery life.
3.ability to over and underclock your phone. this will not only improve battery life but also your phone will perform better and faster.

you can easily remove the carrier iq from your phone very easily. most roms have it already removed.

there is the hacked hotspot

removal of bloatware

i could keep on going.......but if you are looking for a reason to root, i would say just go for it. it is super easy and well worth it. plus if you do not like being rooted the we can easily unroot you if you want.......but who wants to do that anyways.

One of the best things for me about being rooted, is this forum and being able to learn from, help, laugh at and with, and mess with, the folk who come here. :p

Next, I like being able to, yes, Have Control of my phone, to flash all these really cool roms these dedicated devs are making for us. and seeing what kind of neat stuff they put in them. To not be limited by which OS Sprint decided my phone has to have.

I like being able to get rid of some of the stuff they put in them too. :p

I also like the hotspot, which I rarely use, but like having for when I might need it.

Somebody give Dustwun a Cigar so true One of the very best things about being rooted is this forum that I call home :D

Not sure I would have been as bold with doing some of the stuff I've done had it not been for the men and women who dedicate their Time, Talent, Patience, and Knowledgeable information that has been shared with me here. Our People have written some of the best guides around. Just wish the forum had all those guides linked in one sticky. That would be awesome kewl there.

Looks like I missed the party (time for after-party? ;))...
but here's my top three

1. No CIQ (sprint bloat probably included here)
2. Flashing Roms (see Myn's warm 2.2, CM 7, et al)
3. Root-Only apps (Wireless Tether, SetCPU, and a bazillion networking apps (port scanners, tcpdump etc.)) ;) nerdy, yes, but still fun. (don't forget rooting unlocks the true power of Terminal Emulator :D)

SuperUser Access

that's all I wanted really...

I bought an extended battery and needed to reset the battery stats. After some research, I learned that rooted people can easily reset the battery stats. So I decided to root.

I didn't even plan on playing with ROMs...but once you open Pandora's box, you know how this goes ;)

I have yet to flash a kernel...but plan to by the year's end.

If you've installed a custom ROM, a kernel is easy as pie. Simply wipe dalvik cache and cache in recovery and then flash.

Seriously every time I hear about someone's initial intent of rooting and then subsequent fascination with other features of rooting, it's like reading about someone slipping into some kind of drug problem. LOL.
