Root Nandroid backup for switching ROMs

I've not been able to find an educated answer after searching, so its time to ask. What should be selected during Nandroid backup to fully restore a system? I've been selecting everything but wimax (I have a backup with it though) once a new ROM, apps and system are set up, but wonder if this is overkill.

Any other advice for the frequent ROM switcher?

Thanks in advance!

Leave the first 3 boxes checked that are already checked and I always check the wimax box as well. Also, if you have a partitioned SD card you need to select SD-ext.

Any other boxes are optional and really just take up more space on your SD card

You should at least select:
Data
System
boot
have a copy of wimax
sd ext if you have an extended partition with the ext file system
recovery if you wish

I mostly only do data, system, boot, and sdext

for me i only do the first three and i keep one with wimax on my card and one on my computer and one in my dropbox account. just need to cover my bases in case i loose my wimax keys which could happen when flashing. and you only need like one or two nandroids on your card as they do take up a lot of space on the card. and it is even bigger with wimax and others backed up.

This. Only get what is needed, keep a wimax backup floating around, that's what I do. Though, I should put on in my dropbox... good idea sir.

Also, I'd bet you get to 10K posts before I get to 2K. Seems every time I glance at your count it is just miles above what I recall it being... what, do you live here? ;) :D

yeah dropbox is such a cool idea. i have two nandroids in there. one is from when i first rooted and one nandroid of whatever is my favorite at the moment. both have wimax backed up.

and yes, i will take that bet:eek::D lol

I personally check all the boxes when I do a nandroid. I don't keep nandroids around for very long as I've always felt doing a fresh rom install is better than restoring a nandroid from a month ago. But I do keep my stock original nandroid on the computer, all other nandroids I delete them off the sdcard as I go
