in recovery data wipe, you will have to put your email in and basically any apps you use would need to be redownloaded

well i'm not sure how that process works, but do you ave s-off? to check power off then press and hold power+vol down. you might need to disable fastboot so go to settings/apps/uncheck fastboot. now you should be able to power off. this will take you to the hboot screen. at the top is will either say s-on or s-off.

if you have recovery then wipe data. but this will also wipe all you apps and its data as well as having to re-sign in to google. so make sure that you use titanium backup to backup your apps and data. also make sure that your contacts are saved with google as well. but all of this is if you have s-off and a recovery.

if you get a red triangle with an exclamation mark then you do not have a custom recovery. you will have a stock recovery.

Thanks for the quick response!
when you do data recovery do i have to worry about losing my phone number or other settings that thay did ?Is this a safe way for me to go? what do i need for software?-sorry so many questions but iam new to this and struggling to figure it out.
thanks

ok well you are not rooted. so there is really not much you can do other then doing a factory reset which i'm not sure if that will unflash you from the carrier you are now on or not.

he should be able to use revolution to unlock though right?

I would also say a factory reset should not change any carrier specific settings as I would suspect they are all in nv items. But I dont know for sure.

I pressed the power button once and it says
fastboot
recovery
clear storage
simlock
hboot usb
if i press recovery will this clear gmail primary account? will it keep my phone # and carrier?
thanks

Since the phone is not rooted, you will probably have the stock recovery. You can try to press it, but chances are you will get a red triangle/exclamation mark and will be able to get no further.

I'm not up to date on the process of flashing to other carriers, so I'm not sure what you can and cant do.

Your even more limited being that your phone is not rooted. I would suggest doing that so that you can get to recovery and wipe data

yes this is true. you can run revolutionary to root your phone and then install a custom recovery which would then allow you to just wipe data, but a factory reset will do just the same as well. but rooting does have its benefits, just not sure about the network and is there wil be issues or not.
Thanks for the info. So what are my options ?
thanks
well not really sure as i can find no info on how mobi cell works as far as being flashed to that network. i think that doing a factory reset might help. i am no quite sure what this will do as far as being on that network though. it should be fine, but like i said there is not much info on it.

i think to be safe you might want to take it back and pay the price to get your issue fixed. if it is through a company then maybe scream and holler about it and maybe they will do it for you for free.

I agree with this, they flashed it for you they should be responsible for not doing a good job.
setting up the phone for use on that network without doing a factory reset could have resulted in problems.

I do know this though your phone number will not be lost by doing a factory reset, or flashing a new rom or just about anything you could do in recovery.
If they were able to add your phones esn to that carrier you really dont have any reason to worry.
but one thing you can do is on the phone dial ##3282# and then view, that way you can not make any changes and wont need the msl
then go to the advanced and in there near the bottom it will have your mms address that will not be stock, which is sprint. you will want to write that down as it would be handy to have for future reference anyway.

so what you are saying is if i do a factory reset it will not change any of the udates-unlocking or my carrier?iam scarred if i do a factory reset i will have it back to stock sprint and be forced to pay another $50 bucks?

Personally I would take it back and tell them they need to fix my phone as it is giving me another email address that is not mine. I paid you 50 dollars in good faith that you would give me a usable working phone that I could set up however it is not clean. You owe me to clean the phone the way you were supposed to give it to me to begin with. I mean if that is the kind of business they are doing I would have reservations about using them.

well said argedion that is what i would do as well. as i can't verify what doing a factory reset would to do your flashed phone. if this was done by a legit business they owe it to you to give you a product that works correctly. if they flashed your phone on to their network then it is their responsibility to make sure that everything was successful. since you are having issues, it should fall onto to them to fix it. you paid them so you should get your moneys worth on a useable phone.
