Root need help with rooted htc evo4g not getting a signal at all

The download link for the radio in post 2 states that you install it via bootloader.
Just double check for me, but I think that's what it says.....
 
ok up date i tryed to instail the file and i get to instail from sd card

then it says finding update package

opening update package

instailing updtae

e: cant find update scrip

installaetion aborted

what should i do
 
Is the device s-off?
Is the file renamed to PC36IMG.zip? no extra .zip?
Is the file on the root of the sd card?
Is there only one file on the sd card named PC36IMG.zip?

Are you hungry like I am? :)
 
yes it is s off

i didnt rename the file at all i d/l the file exactly the way it was on the site

yes the file isthe only one named that on there i check that 2 times befor i pu ti on the sd card

and yes it is in the root of the card

this is the file name as it cam eoff of the site

O.k....you need to rename the file to PC36IMG.zip first. :)
This is a radio file, so be sure your battery is fully charged or at least 80% or so before installing....and do not pull the battery in the midst of install, or you will surely brick the device ;)

You can use your file explorer on your phone to rename it if you like. :)
Then pull the battery, reinsert the battery, and boot into bootloader, at which time bootloader will find the file and prompt you to update...choose yes, and follow the prompts.
Be patient:)
 
mikey is correct, you can't flash this file in recovery. PC36IMG files need to be named exactly PC36IMG exactly and it needs to have the bootloader install the file.
 
k so the file i have i just need to rename it or do i need ot redownload it and then rename it

and rename it exctly PC36IMG


no .zip right just that only
 
and make sure i do it fromt eh bootloader not recovery


that s is funy cuz when i had my phone and you guys helped me update the radio on it before wheni was having issue with my phone befor sprint did there thing and sent a new one to me i flashed the radio form recovery
 
there are different forms of radio updates. some are in flashable forms and some are in PC36IMG files.

the key is to make sure that your computer hides the extension of the file. extensions are what is attached to the name of a file....for instance, .exe, .bat, .zip........these extensions in windows(7/8) are defaulted to hide these extensions. so when you rename the file you are just changing the name and not the extension. however some computers actually will show the extension by default. you will need to look at the file you just downloaded and if you see the .zip in the name then make sure that when you rename the file to PC36IMG that you leave the .zip part attached to the name so that it is PC36IMG.zip......

but if it is defaulted to not show the .zip then make sure that when you rename the file that you do not add the .zip to the name....otherwise it will be rename as PC36IMG.zip.zip which will not work.

i hope i did not confuse you.....LOL

and one last thing PC36IMG files are files that your phone is programmed to search for when it is in the bootloader. it is a very versatile file. you can use it to install custom recoveries, update your radios, and even change your bootanomation and splash screen as well.

yep that is correct like i said earlier. just make sure that your computer hides extensions by default.

that is up to you. the one you have should be fine as long as it is named right. if you feel that it was a bad download then go ahead and re-download it.

edit: it gave you that error becuase you tried to flash it in recovery. there is a script that tells recovery how to install the .zip file. but the one you have does not have one and thus the error.
 
k guys you all are not going ot o like this

the file is not loading in bootloader is say this as fall

and that is it nothing happens and i have tryed it sev times
 
k i redowned it renamed it at time of download

tryed again to flash it from teh bootloader and same resilts and message and error
 
k i steped away and tryed again adn same resuilt.

so my question here would be is that sents my wifes phone that iam trying to up date the radio on is been done by the dev method but that is as far as i have done to it i have down teh cap guide after it or any thing of that nature i only didi the dev meth just so i could give her a rom ans stuff so would that make a diff in it i didnt know that it woudl cause a prob in it sent i think that you cant not update the radio by using dev meth it it is only to beable to flash roms and other thing like that

and i think i read some were that to beable that update the radios and other things of tath nature you have to be fully s off]
 
yeah that is your issue.....you will need to get s-off to use any PC36IMG file.....sorry i forgot about that.

most radio updates are in PC36IMG files..........so its time to get s-off!!!!!
 
k so then sent it is done with the devo meth then i need ot process to get the s off completely so then i should do the capt/ throw back then

correct i think......do you mean that you have done the htcdev method and have the bootloader unlocked? if so then you can just skip that part of captain's throwback's method.
 
so you have ot be fully s off in order to up date radios

so what do the people or ones that do the dev meth and just stay with the dev meth and dont do any thing eles to get s off how do they up date there things
