Root need help with rooted htc evo4g not getting a signal at all

mikemike1234

Android Enthusiast
hello everyone i am back I need some help I have a
htc evo4g rooted with mik 3.11 on it the issues i am having are for the past i say a week at least my phone well nto say on a tower i can

can you please tell me were to locate the things you are asking for. so ican better find them faster

well your radio can be found in the bootloader(power off then press and hold pwer+vol down)

your prl and profile can be found in a sense rom under your phone settings/about phone(or in software depending on your rom)/then update prl and profile.

well my prl is updated weekly asi said befor in my first post along with my firmware and my profile

the ver. of my prl is 2.33_33

in the second prl version it say 60796

htc sens is 2.1

base band is 2.1500.11.19

the rom is mik 3.11

kern is the anthrax supersonic

and my hboot is 2.10.0001

Well it is not the rom so we can cross that of the list as well as your radio, prl and profile. You can try another rom of you want to verify that it is not a hardware issue. You can even try running a ruu for that matter as well. If that dies not work then take it back in.

what is a ruu?

and as i stated in my first post doyou think it could be trafic like he said and the loss of towers
? and that my phone is on a diff tower than my wifes phone?

and my i ask how you deturman that it si not a harddware issue and not a software issue as well.?

and is there any other things it could be or any thing you might be able to think of at all that my explain it?

what is a ruu?
a ruu stands for rom upgrade utility. it is how we can update our phones. it is either flashed thru the bootloader or it can be an exe.file that you run on your computer with your phone hooked up to the pc via usb. it will update your phone's software to the ota the ruu was made for as well as update your firmware(radios)

yes it is possible that it could be tower issues. it is possible that your wife might be on a different tower depending on what prl and profile she has.

and my i ask how you deturman that it si not a harddware issue and not a software issue as well.?
well by flashing a rom or running the ruu which is software and you still have an issue then it is possible that it is not software but hardware.

and is there any other things it could be or any thing you might be able to think of at all that my explain it?
it is hard to say as there are many factors as to what is going on with your signal so it might be hard to pinpoint it. my suggestion is to flash a rom first and see if that helps first. try just a stock rooted rom first. if you have the same issue then we can try and run a ruu next. lets start there and see.

please see my response in red.

thank you for the info on the ruu when i was doing my research i never cam across any thing about it .

for the stock root rom can you please give me a link to the stock rom so i can flash it

and do i do the same step as i did wnen i first time i flashed a rom sent i only done it on my phone and my wifes

everything you want can be found in our stickies, especially this link here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/618281-list-utilities-apps-roms-kernels-og-evo.html

now for the stock rom the link above, if you pick the sense roms then there should be the ota's with the different versions of the ota's but rooted. take your pick as to which one you want. they are all rooted and not the stock ota so there is no harm in flashing it.

no for the right ruu for you. you are on a very old fimrware and probably should at least update some things. now this ruu here PC36IMG_SuperSonic_GB_Sprint_WWE_4.54.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.zip is a slightly newer one. keep in mind that once you do this and if you were to ever get s-on again then you will need to use revolutionary to re-root the phone.

ok so i'm a little slow these days.....sorry i should have caught on earlier, but your radios are waaaaay old. they are not new and i would look into updating them.

this is the latest radio:CM-EVO_Radio-2.15.00.12.19_PRI-2.33_WiMax_NV.zip

i would first flash this before doing anything else.

just flash it like you would a rom and make sure that:
1. you have a full battery
2. you have your wimax keys backed up when you do a nandroid backup as there is a small possibility you could loose them while flashing radios.
3. DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY OUT UNTIL IT IS FINISHED FLASHING. you could brick your phone if you do.

try that first before doing anything else.

so if i use the ruu on the second link you just gave me it well unroot my phone is that what you are saying but my phone well update completely thow or should i do the first thing you asked and flash a stock rooted rom from the first link but it well be up to date the right

k so i flash that rom like i did the mike3.11 like when i first rooted my phone correct

forget the ruu for the moment. try flashing the radio firmware i linked in my previous post. do that first then you can try a ruu.

and no a ruu will not unroot the phone. what it will do however is remove your custom recovery. it does update the phone's firmware(radios, pri, nvi, and wimax) as well as the software(stock rom). it does not turn s-off to s-on. you need another file to do that which is not necessary at this point.

the stock rooted rom, you can flash just like any other rom as that is exactly what it is.

k so i d/l the file to my desk top so then i put it on my sd card and then reboot into my hboot and it well find the file and unzip it and flash it right

do i need ot make sure the other file the mike 3.11 and all other files that pretain to that rom are off the sd card

no the firmware you will need to go into your recovery and flash it like a rom or kernel. you only need to wipe dalvik cache and cache before you flash it.]

again make sure that you have a full charge. and also that you make a nandroid backup with your wimax keys backed up as well as the normal three that normally gets backed up.

and like i said DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY OUT NO MATTER WHAT UNTIL IT IS FINISHED FLASHING. you can brick the phone this way otherwise.

do i need the ktc syn software again cuz i dont have it downloade on my laptop and it keeps telling my my device is not reconized

you should always have sync installed, at least you will need the drivers. but you only need to connect it to the pc so that you can transfer the files to the card. if you have other ways of doing it then that is fine as well ie a card reader or card adapter.

no having a bad battery will not have any effect on your signal strength. if anything it would be the other way around where a bad signal can effect battery life.

no your nandroid backup does not backup radios. those will always stay the same unless you change them like you are about to do now. so you should be fine.

k i well last question is the htc sync link still on this site to down load it gain .

and to make sure we are clear sent ia m a rocky i just put this on my sd card reboot into recovery and flash that file from recovery like a rom correct and that well up date my radios well it affect my rom thats on ther or areyou saying that this that this is a new rom all to gather with updateed everything

and again do i need to fremove the other rom and the other files falsh file an the other file from my card so it dont get confused

here is htc sync:setup_3.0.5551.exe

ok so you need to
1. download and move the file to the sd card
2. go into recovery and wipe dalvik cache, cache
3. flash the .zip firmware file i linked you.

wait until it is finished. DO NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL IT IS DONE!!!!

no it will not affect your rom other then to give you better signal as your updating your radios.

and again do i need to fremove the other rom and the other files falsh file an the other file from my card so it dont get confused
nope as long as you do not have any PC36IMG files on the card you are fine.

keep in mind that once you flash a .zip file, you do not need that file any more. you can delete it if you like.

k that is the file i still have i beleave i removed it once befor but my hobbot still says it there even thow it is not but well double check it tomarrow and do you have any recommandaions on any roms i should try i getting tired of this mik3.11 now oh and that reminds me i should ask so i can change roms and it well nhto affect the radios if i understand correctly
