Root need help!

The big thing with radio's is that 1. Make sure you have plenty of battery power. I recommend 75% + others go with atleast 50% but still the higher the better. 2. DO NOT PULL BATTERY DURING FLASH. This will seriously mess up your phone. Can make it a nice shiny paper weight. Also understand that updating the radio's does not mean you will get better signal.

and to add to argedion's post make sure that you have wimax backed up when you make a nandroid backup. flashing radios is one way you can loose 4g for good. once they are gone and if you do not have a nandroid backup with wimax, then they are lost forever.

read this:

but do not let the warnings scare you, as long as you have a nandroid backup with wimax then you are good to go.

When flashing kernels do you also have to mess with settings or are they already configured for the evo 4g? Also I'm scared to flash kernels :(

Kernels is no big deal. You won't brick your device flashing a kernel.

Radios are where thinsg can go wrong.

yep kernels are like flashing roms. just make sure that you make a nandroid backup. like rxpert says radios are a little more dangerous to flash. nandroid backups backs u kernels, but not radios. and you can loose your wimax keys by flashing radios.

Your radios should be updated to the latest version or close. If you power down then hold the volume down and power buttons, this brings up your hboot. Your "baseband" is your radio version. the latest is version: 2.15.00.12.19.
The new raduios can be found in the link I posted above. :)

I'm on MikG 3.11 stock kernel. I flashed to the newest radios as above, but my 3g connection is slower now :(. I've seen some people have downgraded their pri and nv. Is that something that can improve my connection? Can you mix a baseband with pri and nv from a different update?

I have nandroids with wimax in several places in case those get lost. I don't want to mess around with the radios too much as that sounds like a good way to brick my phone. But I do want a better connection than what I'm getting now.

Thanks!

Hello! I suggest you try updating your PRL and then updating your Profile, in that order.

found in menu/settings system updates.

Is the mikg ROM better then xpress? Also should I go with anthrax or freedom kernel? Currently on xpress sense 3.0 but might change for the gingerbread sense 3.0

Sorry, forgot to add that to the things I've already done. Updated those in that order, but it didn't seem to help my 3g speed any.
