Root NEED SERIOUS HELP!!!!!.........please.

You're welcome. Remember never delete exitrecovery.zip from your sdcard. keep a backup of your ROM. And keep a ROM in your Sdcard ROM For example number 2 v1.6.
 
I had to perform a hard reset on my Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 and after I rebooted this is what I get:

the application setup wizard process com android setupwizard has stopped unexpectedly. Try again

I hit the auto close button and it takes me to a blank screen and I am only able to pull the down the top drop down menu to see:Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS,Sound,Auto rotation but that is it. Can anyone suggest how I can get it back to being a usable device? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I did a hard reset. Selected wipe data/factory reset. Then I selected Yes -- delete all user data. Then I selected reboot system and that is what brought me to this forum. Any help is appreciated.
 
I was using Titanium back up to try and delete some bloatware and I think i deleted something i shouldnthave, now I have the same problem at taxicabdaddy....

it froze and i tried a reboot and wouldnt get past the "Metro PCS" animation so i did a factory reset. then started the Then I selected Yes -- delete all user data. went through the phone set up wizard and got to the end and i got:

"The application setup wizard (process com.android setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Try again

I hit the auto close button and it takes me to a blank screen and I am only able to pull the down the top drop down menu.

I have tried a factory reset several times now. and I am lost.... Please assist

Well i believe it did. I rebooted the phone and held the volume up/down keys and it asked if i wanted to reset it press the power key and i did, and confirmed it then it did its thin and rebooted into the new user set up. I got all the way to the end of the set up and got "The application setup wizard (process com.android setupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. Try again

I hit the auto close button and it takes me to a blank screen and I am only able to see the normail bar at the top and pull the down the top drop down menu.

Do you recall ever putting CWM (Clockworkmod) recovery on your phone via ROM Manager or the AIO file:confused:
What version are you on also ZVB..ZVD:confused:

no i never did that...... how would i find out whast version? i dont mind starting over from scrath if i have too, i just want it to work without the bloatware.

Just follow the direction in the thread. If you are on ZVD already it will tell you. If not it will update the phone and get you back up and running. Let me know either way though on that thread or back here:thumbup:

It loloks like it worked, im back to stock, but i still need to delete the bloatware or replace the OS with a ROM that overcloks and saves battery life.....What do you recomend

so would i root it first? or how would i go about removing the bloat and doing the ROM? It has been a while and i dont really remember i know i used Superuser and Titanium Backup

Thanks for the link So I am confused on the entire process from beginning to end

Are these the instructions I follow:

How To Root And Flash Clockwork Recovery All At Once-

Download the CWR AIO from the All Things Root section (The Forum you are in) You can find direct links to it in the All Things Root Guide that is stickied at the top of this forum.

Thanks to PlayfulGod and mtmichaelson they have made it very simple and easy to root and flash Clockwork Recovery all in one shot. Here's the How to step by step:

1- Download CWR onto your computer

2- After downloaded, right click and select "Extract" and extract the file.

3- Once extracted, on your phone go to Settings>Applications>Development and check the box next to "USB Debugging"

4- Then plug your phone into your computer and pull down the status bar and press the "USB Connected" notification and select "Internet Mode" and hit OK

5- Open the CWR file you extracted. Once you are in the file, double click "cwm_windows_install.bat" if you are using Windows or if you have Linux double click "cwm_linux_install.sh"

Now a black window will pop up and a bunch of stuff will run. Just let it do its thing and your phone will reboot and you will be not only be rooted but will have CWR flashed to your phone.

To reboot the easiest way download Quick Boot (Reboot) free off the Android Market. Open the app and select "Reboot into Recovery"


How To Make A Backup After Rebooting Into Recovery-

Once you flashed the CWR All in One Root and Recovery you want to make a back up BEFORE you do anything else. To make a back up in recovery:

1- Once you have used Quick Reboot to boot into recovery and are in CWR, using your volume keys to scroll and your power button to select, scroll down to "Back up and Restore" and select it.

2- Select "back up" with your power button

3- CWR will proceed to make a back up of your current ROM. It takes a couple minutes, but once its done select "Reboot System Now" and your phone will reboot

To restore,a back up follow the same steps but instead of selecting "back up" after selecting "Back Up and Restore" select "restore" then select a back up to restore.


How To Install A Custom Kernel-

Download a kernel of your choice from the All Things Root section (The Forum you are in) You can find direct links to each of them in the All Things Root Guide that is stickied at the top of this forum.

1- Once downloaded, its recommended to download it from your computer and place it on your phone, put it on the root of your internal or external sd card. Root meaning not in a folder.

2- Reboot into recovery using Quick Reboot.

3- Then scroll down to "Install Zip From Sd", if you put the kernel on your external SD card select "choose zip from SD". If you put it on your internal scroll down and select 'choose zip from internal". Then after you selected one of those depended on where you put the kernel, scroll down and select the kernel and then Select "Yes".


Let it run and do its thing and once it says its done, select "reboot system now" and enjoy

To overclock download SetCPU, CPUMaster, Android Overclock or an alike app.

5- Scroll down and select "Advanced" and select "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and then select "Yes" then scroll down and select "Go Back"

6- Sroll down and select "mounts and storage" then scroll down and select ONLY these 3 listed, "format data" and then select "Yes", then scroll down and select "format cache" and then select "Yes", then scroll down and select "format system" and then select "Yes". Then scroll down to and select "Go Back"


7- Then scroll down to "Install Zip From Sd", if you put the ROM on your external SD card select "choose zip from SD". If you put it on your internal scroll down and select 'choose zip from internal". Then after you selected one of those depended on where you put the ROM, scroll down and select the ROM and then Select "Yes".


Let it run and do its thing and once it says its done, select "reboot system now" and enjoy

OK i install the CWR then I flashed Kernel then I i flashed the ROM to [ROM] Number Two (#2) v2.3 {ZVD}. I cant seem to overclock past 1.024 min/max even set to performance. using "no Frills CPU Control" I don't really wanna purchase the recommended one "SETCPU".

Also are there diffident Themes, I think i saw something on the ROM page but Im not sure, What about Icons, i don't think i like the All white icons on the bottom of the home screen, because my background is very light colored PIC and its hard to see them.

#2 Roms dont have the overclock enabled..

what he said the kernel in #2 doesn't have oc if you flash kernel first the #2 one replaces it flash the different kernel after and you will be good to oc

OK well with the #2 ROM installed i tried to flash the Kernel and was in a infinate loop, so I had to re-flash the ROM to get the phone working again. So now my question is what Kernel(s) are compatible with the #2 ROM that will allow me to overclock?

Both the ZVD kernels can be used-but you must edit the buildprop in order to overclock on #2.
Its the second instruction under "Heads Up" in that OP
