Network vision & LTE rollout

Rumor in the grapevine suggests that the network gets pretty piss poor prior to getting better when NV is being installed in that particular area.

I expect that, I was hoping people in areas that went through this might have an idea how long to expect the "piss poor" service. :)

Maybe I'm just ranting.

That's what we saw around here. When they get done though everything works great. They're about halfway done with my town.

If you can hook into a tower the day they activate it you can consistently bench over 30mbit. We've seen it on several towers. It's almost like it takes a day or so for the governors to kick in.

Nice to know this is finally going up in the OC. I work in 92802 and live in 90680. I have yet to pick up any LTE signal in those areas. This however gives me hope that I will in the near future

More LTE in the 92807 area Anaheim. But reports show it popping up all over the OC.

Wow, that's pretty awesome. Hollywood is still spotty. I rarely connect to LTE anymore. Just depends where I am. San Fernando valley has been the most consistent, in the areas I frequent, but the OC info is great for when I visit my best friend.

Sprint just announced 9 more markets: Sprint 4G rolls out to nine new markets

Nothing different happens when Sprint announces a market to be "active". It isn't as if towers go offline then suddenly magic arrives and they are activated when Sprint announces. Once a tower is active, it stays active unless the OEM decides it requires maintenance for any particular aspect. These "announcements" are misleading.

PS: Speeds from expanded LTE by my office. Right up where I thought it should/would expect it to be.

Was at work this morning in Anaheim (the convention center) and got 4g LTE for a few minutes for the first time ever. Happened a couple times. It was off and on but I managed to do a couple speed tests. The first time at the upload part of the test it switched back to 3g. Looks like things are moving along. Cant wait till this in constant.

I've been picking it up quite a bit the past week in downtown minneapolis.

Its about a block from my place now. Cant wait till I can get it in the couch;)

They activated 5 spots in my town and now it seems the roll out has stalled... I know of 4 more towers that have had the bandwidth upgraded a few months ago that still aren't active on 4g.

Hopefully it's just temporary...

5 spots of LTE? As for the towers with the updated backhaul, they (Sprint) wait for the entire cluster to go live before you see any 3G enhancement.

Yeah 4g. They were on a roll for a few weeks and were activating it all over town then they just stopped. They're still upgrading their backhauls but I'm not seeing any more 4G activations. Hopefully they get back with it.

Yeah, it's just a matter of time. I haven't seen much 4G LTE expansion in Manhattan for a few weeks. Sensorly did depict some new towers going live in the South Ferry area though, which is surprising considering all the damage from Hurricane Sandy down there.

I don't know how I missed this thread but I should have posted this here rather than the other place I posted it. Apparently Dan Hesse and other executives at Sprint have been punished recently for the lagging progress in the Network Vision rollout. I'm not sure that this will have any practical effect on the ground where customers need reliable coverage and fast speeds now (or yesterday).
