Root New guy really boogered it up

Ok I wil give that a shot.

Also, I'm still unable to restore my picture library, either through nandroid or titanium backup?

OK update time... Loaded the correct falls and got all my Google stuff done... Dropped ADW for GO launcher and have it set up to the balls... Phone is running better than I ever though possiblebut I soil have no access to the 100 or so pictures I took before the flash. I did the nandroid backup directly after the flash, and also did the titanium back up. But I can't restore either of these. Either through recovery or other wise. I was instructed to rename the nandroid after making it, if that helps. It seems recover will only flash zip files, which neither is. I so haw do I recover my precious pics?

Well, the pictures will not be on the rom, they will be stored on the sdcard. Have you used a file explorer to navigate your sdcard? Es File Explorer works great. They will be in your DCIM folder or Pictures folder.

Maybe the new rom is not recognizing the folders as pictures on the sdcard;)

I've used several apps to check the SD card, both DCIM files are empty. How could everything else restore and not my pics.

Also, I never restored my nandroid backup because I get an error message. I think if I find a way to do that then maybe that's the key?

depending on the ROM will depend on how they name the folder for the camera.

Some ROMs use: dcim
Some use: DCIM

I've noticed this myself. Linux is very name specific. So while windows will see the two names above as the same Linux see's them as very different.

Regardless though I alway tell people to backup the sd card to the computer so as to have a recent copy of your stuff incase something goes wrong.

unless you backed up the entire sd card with your nandroid it will not bring back your pictures. Flashing should not have done anything to the SD Card. It only affects the phone ROM.

If you can explain to me how I would have backed up the sd card, I can recall (through the whole mess of confusing stuff I did that night) if I even backed it up, then I'll know for sure

Ok I used the file explorer to check what was in the nandroid, and there is a lot of data under sd, so I'm assuming their in there, but whenever I try to flash it it asks me to choose a zip, I choose the nandroid, it opens another subfolder named HT0C4HL12212/, I choose that and it opens another subfolder named BDS-20111228-1918/, I choose that and it just reverts back to the "up" menu option?

well if you would have done so through the nandroid, you would have clicked on the sdcard. If you would have done it by copy and paste in windows or drag and drop or a batch file operation.

Ok, I have decided that the pics are gone gone gone. However, most of them were posted to FB (thank god)... Thanks for all your help though, you're all aces for this new user.
