correct again...this time when it finds your file permitting its named and placed correctly it will run its check but at the end of it, it will say it found a img do you want to update, select yes and let it do its thing.

yes, you should see folders named for example "download" etc etc put it at the same level as that folder. sounds like youre in the right palce
 
im sorry i think i miss a step.

when it loads back to hboot screen, i see it seeing the pc file but theres no prompt. do i need to select "RECOVERY" again or am i waiting on something else?

i think it needs to be pc36img.zip
 
ok it should find that file when its doing that check you dont need to do anything. The file is in the wrong place or named incorrectly or it would find it. "PC36IMG.zip" or just "PC36IMG" try both. no folder....
 
ill slow down a little,

im in clockworkmod recovery right now.
i have 8 options.. 2 of which say

apply sdcard:update.zip
and another that says

install zip from sdcard


black screen with green letters
 
how the **** did you get into clockwork recovery? lol you didnt have that earlier when you clicked recovery you said it rebooted. You are good to go if you are in clockwork technically. Though I still suggest getting that pc36img file to flash in hboot so you can use amon ra recovery. Make a back up of your stuff right now in clockwork just to be safe.
 
2.6.0.1 is the best clockwork version out there. If you REALLY arent going to be flashing a bunch and wiping you can stick with it. You are good to go sir. Back up, reboot, restore all your shit you put on the sd card or whatever. Dl your wifi tether app and go to town.

oh shit if you arent going to install that pc36img file rename it so it doesnt find it everytime, though it didnt find it the first time so thats not really an issue it doesnt seem because something was wrong with it to begin...oh well just to be safe and unannoyed.
 
LOL khaymon confused me when he ended up in recovery all the sudden and it wasnt there before lol, maybe it just needed a reboot.
 
this is what im looking at right now. i am in clockwork recovery v2.6.0.1

when i go into option 5.

"Install zip from sdcard"

i go into option 2 in that screen which is

"choose zip from sdcard"

when i go in that option there are a bunch of choices, like kindle,amazonmp3, blah blah etc... but at the bottom is my file called PC36IMG.zip.zip

now what do i need to do? i have already checked the zip file on my desktop and it only .zip and i rechecked it on sdcard and it is only .zip

i dont think its loading the pc36img.zip file properly. should i go remove the .zip i put in wheni renamed it to begin with?
 
LOL im reading back up now, i do appreciate the help mucho. you all are awesome. I really do understand alot more now. just trying to polish it off.

No no that pc36img.zip file is not flashed from recovery it is flashed from hboot. It is named incorrectly though. If you really want to continue to amon ra 2.3 recovery instead then you would change the name to just "PC36IMG" and go back to hboot and let it update. That will change your recovery from clockwork 2.6.0.1. to amon ra 2.3. The biggest issue with clockwork 2.6.0.1 is that it may not completely wipe everything if you ask it to. HOWEVER, if you arent flashing different roms then you have no need to be wiping. So making the switch is up to you.

You cant flash a new recovery from your current recovery...that just wouldnt work, thats why you need to be in hboot and why the file hsa to be name exactly, just wanted to clarify that a little
