HTC Evo 4G with 2.3.3 Ok so my original reason for rooting was because i wanted to wifi tether. i was corded tethering but that was a pain. So I decided to root. I used rEVOlution to root and that went great, but then I heard all these things about Cyanogenmod7 and thought I would give that a try. Im not a fan. I want to go back to the stock evo rooted, but cant seem to find a how to deal on that. To top it off my phone now says s-on. And I dont know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. I am a newbie! ;)

Did you do a Nandroid backup? I am pretty sure but not 100% as I am fairly new too but if you did a nandroid backup I am pretty sure you just go into recovery and restore. You Might want to wait untill someone more experienced jumps in though because like I said I am by no means an expert yet.

yep, if you made a nand, you can restore.... id do a factory reset tho as CM7(cyanogenmod7) is an aosp (android open source) rom, and tey dont play well with sense based nands (the original o.s. is sense) If your worried about losing your contacts and/or texts, there are backup apk's for both of those, and google usually saves your contacts on their servers via synch. Id give cm7 a full shot tho... what problems are you having man?

OK what steps have you taken to remove cm7? You should not have s-on. Give us the information about your hboot.

If you have s-on you have to reroot before you try anything else.
Please, if you will, provide the info agredion asked for and we'll get you squared away. ;)

ive seen this s-on problem quite a bit before while retaining the ability to flash roms... what recovery did you use to flash the o.s.? and please dont say that you used rom manager LoL

Hey, what's up with ROM mana ger? I ve never used it because everyone says not too, but the interface looks cool, is it just buggy or what?

yes it is way buggy and does not wipe very well. it is much easier for me to go into recovery and do things manually. in fact i do not trust any app that claims to flash roms and kernels for you. do things manually, it will save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Yes it can be buggy. I believe ROM Manager is okay to use at first, but you should familiarize yourself w/ navigating through recovery, flashing ROM's, kernels, etc....You should want to learn as much as possible w/o relying on a third party app. JMO.
