new update to 2.3.5 standard

am amazed at the speediness of vodafone releasing 2.3.5

uncharacteristically responsive

and ota too rather than via kies.

any other vodafoners had this??

I should coco... they got it out (in the UK) before even the unbranded release.

Mine is updated to 2.3.4 on o2 (contract from phones 4 u) as from dinner time today, have you tried updating kies 1st?

Is that O2 branded, or just bought on O2 network, because mine is still not showing anything? Mine was bought direct from O2 online and arrived in a generic box, unlocked but with an O2 bootscreen (the only branding I've seen so far) and CSC.

No O2 stuff on it at all, even on the boot screen. But my wife has the HTC Desire bought through O2 and that also has the O2 boot screen but everything else was O2 free, looks like maybe O2 want to add their stuff to their phone's software on their version of handset 1st.
I think O2 are pretty good most of the time but their speed in releasing software updates is pretty poor.
Are you sure its unlocked, did you try another sim from Orange or Vodafone or another carrier?

I havent rooted but have used odin to update to xxkg2 2.3.4. Does this mean OTA won't work on mine now?

I am using a sim free CPW S2 on Vodafone sim only.

Yep, OTA won't work. It has to be on the original firmware from the country of the phone.

Ah to be in the UK and have 2.3.5 OTA updates, might not have had as much need to root then. Aus is still on 2.3.3.

*#7465625# shows

Network lock OFF
Network Subset Lock OFF
SP Lock OFF
CP Lock OFF

I've tried another sim in there, but it was from Tesco mobile, which also uses O2, so the fact that it works doesn't really show anything.

Interesting.... that's the first time I've heard of a GS2 updating OTA.
How can I update the firmware via OTA?
Whenever I do Settings->About phone->Software update->Check for update it shows me "Connection failed".
Am I doing anything wrong.

I'm from India.

I've a desire s on vodafone contract and i'm on 2.3.3 and no updates are available. I've asked Vodafone in their eforum but they are avoiding the question very tactfully!

I've got an unlocked handset in the UK and Kies is showing that 2.3.4 is the latest update for me. How does the updating work with unlocked handsets? Does it still rely on the carrier?

To save yourself a lot of anguish, follow SamKiesUpdates on Twitter. Everyday they release a bunch of updates and when your flavour comes up, fire up Kies and that's it.

is the jump from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 really that much?

i'm about to get the sg2 on tmobile uk and i won't be holding my breath for any updates. so if the update is worth it, i may look into odin and flashing it (never done it before tho!).

Save urself from rooting ur phone and get ur gs2 on vodafone and it will come with 2.3.5 preloaded. :)

Got 2.3.5 on my unbranded nordic S2 yesterday. My phone will not connect to Kies no matter what I do but it updated OTA. :)
