Root NexTheme ESE81 R3 Release (4/21/10) - New Goodies!

I seem to be getting a lot of force closes with this ROM. I did a data and cache wipe prior to install and then used Ti backup to restore "apps + app data" (also DL'd the Ti suggested busybox prior to the restore).

Thinking I may need to do a system wipe. Yes? How? (Yes, I did a search)

You can go to settings, applications, manage, filter, all, helixlauncher, and clear defaults.

there's also an app in the market that does it, but I don't know the name.

Thanks! For the life of me I couldn't remember how to do it.

The Rom is awesome.... running like a dream. Snappy and very cool temps.....

Is there any chance there will be a release of the icons in default colors? Or maybe a dark red/burgundy? Is there a program that does that?

ok fab. you finally tore me away from cyanogen to try this rom. so far it is running smooth and fast. even a 800Mhz it runs nice. good work. :)

I have installed this one like 4 times and every time my WiFi won't enable. I am at 2.1 and used the ROM Manager to apply. I can't get it to work right out of the box before I start restoring apps and such. Any suggestions? I really like this ROM a lot! I also was unable to send email via the Gmail app.

can someone tell me what the name of the apk file is for the carbon fiber background look while your in a call?

Thanks for any help!!!

I suggest using ROM manager to boot into clockwork recovery, then in the mount or format options (I don't really remember the name exactly), make sure you format SYSTEM, DATA, and CACHE. Then use the install.zip, and navigate to the nextheme.zip file and install that way.

I'm thinking if you just use ROM manager to install, it might not completely wipe SYSTEM, which may be why the wifi isn't working.

I know you're doing this out of fun, but out of curiosity - and chance of this showing up on ROM Mgr?

All the format options are in the "partitions menu" inside Clockwork Recovery. I also would format the boot partition just to make sure you don't have remnants of an old kernel causing issues.

I dunno...

I don't have a proper host for the file (using Mediafire), and I'm worried that making it readily available for ROM manager users will result in a lot more problems from less experienced users. I don't know if I want to deal with that :(

i left it off charge all night didnt have that problem again yet..i believe i left it at 90 im almost 13 hours in and its at 40 percent ...one of my questions is setcpu is showing 21 percent in battery usage and thats without using the phone all night and day is that normal?..i dont recall seeing such a high number on previous roms? i could be wrong though

Quick question regarding installation. I have been using DM 1.0 since the beginning of my ROM career and have not really ever thought about switching, but I really like the looks of this ROM. What is the proper way of clearing data to install this ROM. I understand the backup and installation process. I just want to be able to install this ROM with the least amount of problems and it sounds like clearing data and cache is the best way.

Cant click on telephone in browser it just brings me to error screen on web page instead of opening phone book and dialing number is there a fix for that. Im using nextheme r2 on the droid

That seems to be a problem with Cyanogen as well... Maybe a problem with the ese81?

download the rom, rename to update.zip, reboot into recovery, clear data & cache (factory reset), install, allow update.zip, install update.zip

If you know adb, instead of choosing the factory reset, you can:

adb shell
format DATA:
format CACHE:
format SYSTEM:

then install update.zip as noted above.

How did you install the ROM? Did you do a clean install, or over another ROM? Phone numbers on webpages work fine for me (both using the default dialer and a third party app, dialer one).

Fab!

Just have to say well done. I keep on trying to find something better than your roms and I always end up coming back. :) I went to Cyanogen 5.0.5.7 and it just eats my battery. I love the look of yours, its fast, (I only OC to 800) and very few FC's. I use the RomManager and I was getting a couple FC's, I just ran the Update Permissions script from the RomManager and all of that went away.

Just wanted to say thanks for putting this together. Looking forward to your version of Pete's 1.0 whenever that comes out. But for now, I'm real happy with this!

You can either go into the settings and manage applications, find launcher, and 'reset defaults', or you can get an app called 'home switcher', which will essentially do the same thing.

Fab wanted to thank you again for this one... best ROM I've run so far, nice battery life and it even runs the Helix Launcher2 beta with very few hicups (and I mean very few)... All around a great great ROM man... I don't see myself getting rid of this one unless you updated it or until Pete releases 1.0 :)

Any chance we could get the old google talk logo and notifications back? Love the ROM and will continue using it but the purple is really not doing it for me.

I did a clean install data wipe and cache wipe as well. But i am still new to this so just learning as i go. And for the rom i get to work properly i will donate. As of now still have few bugs im trying to resolve but could be my fault . But nextheme is great
