No More Broken Camera Lens Or Dinged Red Bezel..

This O ring glued to the phones battery cover will stop broken lens' for good! The reason why the glass cracks is direct pressure to the red bezel. With this O ring it can not happen all the shock force is now on the battery cover not the lens.

Have you done extensive testing? That's a pretty bold statement. If I do this mod will you pay for my insurance deductible if my lens cracks?

The reason they crack is because the bezel sits right on top of the lens. Bang the bezel crack the lens. All shock is now sent to the battery door not the lens.

I'm skeptical this theory. I recently saw a thread where the guy had seidio active case but incurred a cross shaped crack on his lens. I too have an active case, and and when the EVO is laid down, there is no contact between the lens, nor bezel with the surface.

p.s
go ask your relative who 'works' for htc for a real solution.

Oh my god why why why!!!!!!!!. I just use the kickstand when i want to put it on a table. I mean that to me is why its there. Wow wow again.

Good idea! In that spirit of ingenuity I could offer that duct tape over the front valence on your corvette would help afford great protection from tar and rock chips too. If you do it with the red variety would look really spiffy too!:)

very good, simple and cheap solution. i like. my case doesnt fully cover the protruding lens so I think I will glue an o-ring to it.

I know, you said that in the OP, but you didn't answer my questions. If you haven't done any testing you shouldn't use phrases like "will stop broken lens' for good!" and "it can not happen" and "all the shock force is now on the battery cover".

I can practically guarantee you that you can still crack your lense with that little O ring in place. Rubber is compactable and pressure on the O ring can still reach the bezel and put pressure on the lens and cause a crack.

A better solution is to buy the fisheye/macro lens. They use a small metal washer & magnet which also protects your camera lens, plus they are far more functional.

Why? Because if you crack the lens you are in for a used refurb. Maybe even the one that guy had floating in his sink. I don't care how it looks as long as it helps keep my camera from getting damaged.

I can't imagine anyone actually doing this. The only reason I believe the OP is since he has a picture. WHY, WHY, WHY would you EVER do this to a phone!?!?!?!?!?! What in the world????

"oh man nice phone, is that the new iPhone?"
-"no, it's the HTC EVO"
"oh wow man, hey what is this rubber and gunk all around your camera?"
-"oh that's just my ghetto gluing an O ring to protect my camera"

nuff said.

Well don't use an O ring like the OP.
Get a flat rubber washer to size and you wont even see the glue.
