Note 4 owners: will you upgrade to Galaxy Note 5?

LOL...This proves to me that Samsung's main motivation was how to increase profit margin on consumers by removing microSD from the Note series:

Nothing they can say would convince me that they couldn't fit the microSD in with the US models. I hope US consumers don't fall for Samsung's b.s. They're crossing their fingers to regain ground on Apple, by increasing profits, but if people hold off on buying, that means they actually have to do some work on innovating again.

Yup. That's the one I've been holding out for. Only way I was going to get the Note 5, is if it allowed me to be just as productive as I am with my Note 3, without compromising too much.

Thing is, if they introduce a folding device, but they don't have a microSD for that, then I'll be looking a different direction.

If you can find one (they're in high demand and short supply), get a Verizon Note 4 Developer Edition. It came straight from Samsung, and was identical to the retail version with the one exception: an unencrypted bootloader. I have one... it's on Verizon, rooted & ROMmed. Look on Swappa and XDA often, as they're bought and sold very quickly.

Well,it's been roughly 24 hrs since the mehnouncement & my head is a bit clearer of the virtual new phone smell.
Now that Samsung has quashed (at least for now) a 128 GB version on T-Mobile,chances of getting the NOTE5 have left the building.
Also,coincidentally had the chance to hold an S6 sans security tethers for the 1st time today.
Damn near dropped it,a slippery phone reminiscent of the LG G2.
If the NOTE5 has a similar feel-in-hand,it's a deal breaker.
I'll at least give it a look-see,no harm in that.
Besides,my NoteEdge still has the new phone smell (along w/an SD Card slot,removable battery/I-R Blaster,etc)........

I have been looking - haven't seen one yet. Thanks for the advice. I am thinking I will just hold out with my Note 3 until another viable option is on the market (Moto X pure or LG G4 pro/note).
 
The Note 5 is more jewelry than tool. I spend much time away from A.C. and use my phone's GPS with offline maps, for navigation. I need a big battery (Zerolemon etc) and sd cards with my maps on them. I know that Android "enthusiasts" don't reflect the views of the normal consumer, but I figured that by now folks would start to understand that batteries don't last forever. I wonder about the LG G4 PRO. Hopefully, my old S3 will last until something with replaceable battery, SD expansion and hopefully, an unlockable bootloader shows up.

Thought I would until it went official.

Not happy with a number of things, plus it will only arrive down here in November.

Design is gorgeous, updated TW looks great, but lack of MicroSD and lack of a 128GB option are a major letdown and reason why I won't get it.

Hope those who do enjoy it, it is a stunning piece of tech. :)
 
Nope. Had the Note 2 and 4, will most likely move to the G4 Pro if the rumors are true. No removable battery or 128gb option on the N5 means the end of the road for me.
 
Well folks, I have had fun. It's been a great ride talking with you guys about the Note 5... but I think I've settled on my new phone: the Motorola Moto X Pure. Same 5.7" QHD screen, 21 MP camera with 4K video, front-facing stereo speakers and YES - a microSDslot. And it's customizable, rootable, runs pure Android and costs hundreds less than the Note 5.

I know you'll love your new phones, those of you who have pre-ordered the Note 5. And those of you who intend to buy it, I wish you all the best. As for me, though, I'll bid the Note series a fond farewell and bid you all a great day. If you want me, you can always PM me or find me in the Moto X Pure forum.

If the speakers are remotely close to that on the Nexus6,you're gonna luv the experience,as they are clear & quite loud for a phone.
The MOTO X Pure is what the Nexus6 shoulda been,at least MOTO saw the wisdom in producing a sub 6" version of it...............
 
Quite happy with my Note 4's, no SD or removable battery in the N5 are an absolute deal breaker. The Motorola Moto X Pure sounds an interesting thing, will keep my eye on them.
 
I have owned:

DROID, Droid X, Droid X-2, HTC thunderbolt, Galaxy nexus, Note 2, Note 3 and the Note 4. I've to date been pretty happy sith each successive Samsung upgrade. The note 2 was OK but the note 3 was great and the camera and processor upgrade sold me. The OIS for the 4 has been great since I use my device so often as a camera or for social media and time lapse.

I also often carry a few large music playlists with me... Especially since I have worked in nyc and commuted through tunnels with no service etc. Internal storage is critical to me as is the ability to expand with microsd. I own a 128gb card... I don't want that purchase to be invalidated or a waste.

My fiance had the Galaxy s4 and is ready for an upgrade. I would have gotten the note 5 and given her my 4 but no replaceable battery and no microsd males the phone worthless to me. In an age where there is always a case on my phone the backing never mattered. Now I have no reason to upgrade to a Samsung again except that they have OIS on video... Except everyone else will have that soon.

If Motorola, one plus or Xiaomi offer most od the features plus the ones Samsung removed... I'll hemp ship.

I rarely use the stylus it is kind of a gimmick even after 3 Notes lol. Having a battery I can replace for not $100+ and expandable storage for media as in movies, picutres, videos, music and other files is critical to my phone usage.
 
I don't have an upgrade until next year so I am not really looking to get the Note 5. The note 4 is my first Note and I am really liking it. I just bought a 128gb sd card. So to me the Note 5 just would not work. I have two extra batteries for my Note 4. I don't really use them very often, but having the option is always good. My Note 4 runs great so I will be waiting to see what happens with the Note 6. Hopefully Samsung will see it has made a big mistake in taking away the sd card and removable battery option.
 
Seeing as probably LG G4 is only phone left with removable battery and SD card, I hope they don't follow the rest of them before Feb 2017.
 
I'm running a rooted note2. I'm hoping that by the time it dies (or I drop it) the note4 will be really cheap!

Just my 2 cents:
Looks aside,I don't think it's that much of an upgrade.
But,if you want to have the newer processor/etc... might as well go for the Note Edge.
I didn't have the Note3 or 4 for very long,but,I did appreciate the improved appearance of the Note4.
Again,that's just subjective & if you're putting a case on,then it's really moot,stick w/the Note3 or go for the Edge.
 
I don't have a Note 4, but here are my thoughts:

Looking at more about the Note 5 and I didn't notice it at first, it's an iPhone mimic. It dropped the distinct Samsung quality and style and went for the clunky and thick Apple model. It feels like Samsung is losing its quality and becoming just another Apple company which I want no part of. Dropping features that make upgrading and customizing possible like SD cards and better batteries, not to mention the Note 5 has less battery storage than the Note 4, and the Note 4 can be upgraded up to a ZeroLemon 10,000mah battery. It's about $200 more versus the Note 4 for the same phone with an uglier design and fewer features imo. Wireless charging isn't worth it if you can do it yourself on a Note 4 (which you can). Samsung customers don't necessarily want improved build quality (and even then some people think the new build quality is a step back versus the Note 4), they want features that Apple and other leading companies don't have, and the new Samsung just isn't delivering that. These new features will definitely attract Apple customers because anything Android is better than Apple tbh and this new Apple is good for them, but I don't want to support Samsung (as there are other more obscure Android manufacturers) if they keep going in this direction. They can't just leave the customers that built their company up in the first place.

Um, the Note 5 is thinner than the note 4, not "clunky" in any way.

The design on the 5 is WAY nicer, and I actually have - and like - the Note 4.

And "fewer features"? Like the better camera with faster access and better FFC, the better fingerprint scanner, the more RAM, the faster UFS 2.0 storage, the better S Pen with the ability to write with the screen off, the built in FAST wireless charging (which it sounds like you'd rather pay separately for) ?

Sounds like the phone isn't for you. I have the Note 4 and can't wait for the Note 5.
 
I don't know what to do now. Currently on the Note 3 and can upgrade in a few months.
Been waiting for this phone a long time.
Very disappointed No SD (and limited to 64gig) No Removable battery and NO waterproofing :( :(

I really want to stick with Samsung, and don't want to have to get a Note 4.

I'll probably still get the Note 5, I would really miss the home button on something else!!!
