Note 4 owners: will you upgrade to Galaxy Note 5?

Um, the Note 5 is thinner than the note 4, not "clunky" in any way.

The design on the 5 is WAY nicer, and I actually have - and like - the Note 4.

And "fewer features"? Like the better camera with faster access and better FFC, the better fingerprint scanner, the more RAM, the faster UFS 2.0 storage, the better S Pen with the ability to write with the screen off, the built in FAST wireless charging (which it sounds like you'd rather pay separately for) ?

Sounds like the phone isn't for you. I have the Note 4 and can't wait for the Note 5.
Honestly, they still got rid of crucial features and functions including expansion.

Note 4 (top) and Note 5 (bottom) It looks like an iPhone. The Note 4 actually looks thinner (although it's roughly a millimeter thicker) because of the smoother design and flow. The new design just looks like an iPhone, and I don't appreciate that.

WOW!
Interesting comments by all.

I'm all in with the Note 5. Since the first note came out and reintroduced the stylist, I was hooked. Good luck to all of you opting to skip the 5.

From what I read, however, there are enhancements to the 5 worth switching from my beloved 4. I'll gladly leave feedback in about one week.

Well, the last ditch hope that the dual sim version would have a slot that would double as a microSD just went out the window:

So, based on that leaked advertisement and the 2nd slot not being available for microSD support, I'm definitely passing on the Note 5. Not that disappointed, actually, even though I really do like how the new Note 5 looks.
I know you're holding out for the truly flexible devices, hopefully that will be realized before too long. :thumbsupdroid:
As you mentioned,the Note5 is a looker,ya ought take a look-see @ a store near you,the feel-in-hand they finally got it right......... :thumbsupdroid:

Oh yeah, I didn't even need to go into a store, brotha. I just looked at the dimensions alone and knew that what they did with the physical dimensions for the Note 5 is what I was hoping they'd do with the Note 4! That way, the jump in size from the Note 3 to the Note 4 wouldn't have felt so awkward to me (and I would've upgraded last year).

Overall, it is a very nice looking phone, but we've talked about that before. Function is always top priority for me, prior to looks. When it comes to phones, I'm always to compromise more on looks vs. compromising functionality.

I hear ya on the function over form w/o compromises if options are available.
The GP's needs don't align w/most users here,if the mfgs "market research" is to be believed.
Contrary,I'm inclined to believe our #s are better than perceived.
Talk to some people you know regarding the missing features in the S6 & now Note5 & most don't even notice the back cover doesn't pop-off anymore, much less missing the SD Card slot.
But,once pointed out, their concerns mirror those here in the forum.
If sales fall flat w/the Twin Towers of Glass, look for a return of the SD Card next year.
The S6 Edge+ is being touted as the media powerhouse of the two.Not exactly when the SD Card slot is MIA.

Nevertheless, you know me all too well by now,my needs are fairly tame compared to the power users here.
Odds are I pick up the Note5 come Friday, with the new S-Pen features/look/feel-in hand winning me over.
How long will I keep it?
Let's just say I've got items in my refrigerator older than my last phone purchase & you can probably hold your breath longer than I'll hold on to it & Jump to the next flavor of the month. (Good thing for T-Mo's Jump program,or,this habit could get crazy-ass expensive).

I have the Note4 and the GS6edge...

I've yet to see how the UFS 2.0 storage is better than before on my GS6edge vs. having a microSD slot, and I have the 128gb version. I have about 58gb free. Imagine that on a 64gb Note5.

Also - the "FAST wireless charging" isn't free - you need to buy the Samsung Fast wireless charging pad to experience 'fast' since all other charging pads will be the same slow Qi speeds.

The Note5 has some nice new features but it's debatable that it's worth the cost of removable battery, microSD card slot, and 128gb capacity.

For now, you need to buy the Samsung one. Fast wireless charging is a standard and there will be other manufacturers making them (probably cheaper) soon enough.

Very true. That is a question for each potential buyer to weigh. How important are those thing to THAT buyer?

LOL...I know you'll end up picking it up, but I give you about 3-4 weeks before you sell it and move on to something else, or just go back to the Edge. Either way, your turnaround rate for phones isn't very long, so I'd imagine you'd be onto a new phone within 3-4 months anyway, even if your experience is great with the Note 5.

As for the S-pen features, that's what's so frustrating to me about Samsung. If they truly wanted to follow in Apple's direction, at least make the custom software updated to work with all of their legacy products. The most frustrating thing to me was the transition from the original S-Note to the newer one. Why in the heck did they create a completely different S-Note, instead of just updating the old one to work with all of their Note products? It was such a PITA to have my Note 8 only SYNC up S-Note on my Note 3, via Evernote. That is, until they finally updated the Samsung App store for download of the newer S-Note. And then, at that point, I had 2 versions of S-Note on my Note 8. Just didn't make any sense whatsoever. That's why I see Samsung failing to achieve their goal of reaching Apple's height of popularity. It'd be one thing if they were good about keeping their software updated across the board, but for whatever reason, they can't seem to understand how important it is to keep their older products updated with software, so the customers feel like if they stick with Samsung, the transition to newer products with newer software won't be a completely "new" experience of having to learn the new features for 3 months, only to have those change in another 3 months when they release their "next" latest and greatest (6 months typically being the gap between their Galaxy S line and Note line).

All you folks who are equally mad at Samsung and refuse to reward them with your money really need to check out the Moto X Pure. It's like a best-kept secret and it will be available September 3rd. Hopefully Samsung will notice a mass exodus of die-hard Note fans and fix things for the Note 6. In the meantime I'll see you in the Moto X Pure Forum! :)

I'm a phone whore and would love to consider getting the Note 5, but I also can't see any real reason for me personally to upgrade. I have a Note 4 and it's more an adequate for everything I use it for. would I like the faster processor and more RAM? yes...but it's not enough to make me upgrade. Especially not for the things that you lose(battery etc) in the process. I totally understand the appeal, and it looks like a really great phone. Just not for me.

I owned the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy Note 4 and loved both. Similar to the S6/Edge, the Galaxy Note 5 takes a departure from previous models and features premium design but lacks a MicroSD slot and water proofing. To be fair, none of the Notes were ever waterproof... only the Galaxy S5.

So the question is... will previous Galaxy Note owners upgrade to the Galaxy Note 5?

I owned the Note 3, the S5, then moved to the Droid turbo, to be locked into no Fox-Fi wireless (I have unlimited data still). After almost bricking my turbo, i got it back to stock. I Received my Note 5 on Monday 8/17 (Yes, I said 8/17 !) It said it was due to arrive 8/21. Anyway, the first thing i did was check out Fox-Fi, and it works as wireless hot spot ! The Note 5 is actually thinner than the turbo, and about same width. The screen is slightly larger, and the battery is not quite as good as the Droid. I'm overall happy with it so far. The speed and resolution are great !

Just verified w/one of the main local T-Mobile locations, they have the Note5 & S6 Edge+ at the store.
Just waiting 'til Friday, they can't sell until then, the SKU's are not in the system util 8/21/15.............:(

They can't pre-order for you (full price), so all you have to do is just go pick up on Friday?

I wasn't necessarily thinking about the phone selling out, just more the time saving of them having all your information, and just processing it on Friday, so that when you go to pick the phone up, you just walk in and out with your phone ready to go and no waiting for them to go through all of the verification, etc.

I'm not sure if they can even do that ahead of time, would be nice though.
However,in the meantime,I just finished unrooting & used Kies to restore the factory ROM/recovery on my NoteEdge to prepare for the Jump to the Note5.
I'm actually hoping I can Jump my Gear S watch,as it was purchased on the Jump program & keep the Edge, but,if not,I'll let it go & get the Note5.
