Note 7 Recall - Anyone been contacted by Samsung or their carrier yet?

I'm not doubting that Samsung's doing a Note 7 recall, but has anyone been contacted by Samsung or their carrier yet? I haven't, and I haven't seen a peep about it on Samsung's web site or Verizon's. Seems weird. Or is it just still THAT early in the adventure? Are we going to see Dongjin Koh's head roll?
I received an email from Samsung today outlining the process to exchange your Note 7.

Just got this, this morning

Etc.

Like others have said, AT&T sent me the text seen above and I also got the official email from Samsung. Not sure I believe Samsung when they say that new Note 7's will be ready by next week, but went to my local AT&T shop and swapped out the Note 7 for an S7 Edge. Not going to lie.. the S7 Edge has been fantastic and has really impressed me when compared to the Note 7. Not sure if I'm going to to swap it back out for a Note 7..

I'm on Verizon and got the text on Sunday and the "official" Samsung notice on my phone this morning. A quick call to the Verizon 1-800# and the CSR said to check back with my local store in about a week (or so). That's when they expect the stores will have the new and improved Note 7 for replacement. Even swap, no affect on the 256GB card or Fit2.

You only have until the end of September to change out your phone. If you do not and something happens after the end date in September then you have to take it up with your phone insurance whoever that's trough and if you don't usually have the phone insurance then you would be SOL I suppose.

Where are you finding the September 30th cutoff date? I thought it sounded familiar, but I've been hunting all over Samsung's site and Verizon's now, and can't find any mention of it.

FREE VZW MSG: On September 2, 2016, Samsung announced a voluntary recall of the Galaxy Note7 in response to an issue with the device's battery. Because customer safety is our top priority, Verizon has stopped selling the Galaxy Note7. Additionally, through September 30, 2016, Verizon is waiving the restocking fee. If you wish to return or exchange the device, please visit the store you purchased it from. When you return your Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and buy another smartphone you will get up to $25 off any accessory. Learn more at https://news.samsung.com/global/statement-on-galaxy-note7.

Ok, I see that in the messages I got, too. It sounds pretty specific though. It's from Verizon, not Samsung, and, if your choice is to return the phone, they'll waive the restocking fee if it's before September 30th. Samsung doesn't seem to have said anything at all yet about a deadline of any kind. In my case, I'm expecting/planning on exchanging my current handset for a replacement. I'm not saying I'd be surprised to see Samsung indicate some kind of cutoff date somewhere, at some point. I'm thinking it's interesting they haven't addressed that topic at all yet. When/if they do, I'd also be surprised if they set a deadline within the same month as the formal announcement of the defect and program to remedy it. I'll keep my eyes peeled for developments! :)

Verizon just told me that I could return the phone and the accessories that I purchased at the same time. The only problem is I also purchased a few quick-charge wireless chargers from a different vendor. I'm still weighing my options.

Update Local Verizon Store told me September 14th the New Notes will drop! Tried to talk me into getting S7. So Next Wednesday I will be there to exchange for a New Note. I ask him will these be refurbished phones like a Insurance replacement. He said absolutely not because of the recall. It must be New Notes 7's replacing the old.

Samsung sent me an email yesterday where the new Note 7s will be out and about as early as next week.

Of course he's not going to tell you that they're refurbs. He can also claim that they're not refurbs because there hasn't been a big enough pool of them returned to have many on hand. My guess is that they're old shelf stock, they cracked em open and replaced the battery, which is still a refurb IMO, unless there's a slight chance that a few were in production and they installed them with the correct battery before they were sealed. My guess is there's a good chance that people will get a previously owned device. They should go ahead and upgrade the gorilla glass while they're at it.

I've just found these pages

http://www.samsung.com/sg/note7exchange/ - Singapore - Exchanges start on the 16th
http://www.samsung.com/us/note7exchange/ - USA - New Notes scheduled to arrive this week
http://www.samsung.com/uk/note7exchange/ - UK - Exchanges start on the 19th

I'm sure there are many more if you know what abbreviation Samsung insert in their URL's for your country.

Hope that helps

lol@ $25 inconvenience fee.... I wonder if there's some sort of fine print when accepting the credit.

PROGRESS!

I called my local Verizon corporate store about swapping out my Note 7. I was told to call Samsung. I did. And this time, the rep took my name, model number, IMEI and phone number. She assured me that someone from Samsung would call me within 48 hours and start the exchange process.

My only gripe is that the $25 gift card will be a SAMSUNG gift card. I guess I'll hold that for awhile, considering that I've already purchased pretty much everything I had intended to buy :p

I tried shopping at Samsung's website with the 20% off for buying the Note 7. Even if I had applied the 20% off discount, the price of the Samsung quick charger that I bought through Amazon was cheaper.

Are you sure you'll receive genuine Samsung product when you buy it from Amazon?
