Note 7 Recall - Anyone been contacted by Samsung or their carrier yet?

I called my local Verizon corporate store about swapping out my Note 7. I was told to call Samsung.
And I was told to wait for an email from Verizon letting me know that the new notes were in stock and then they would start the process to ship the new one to me. I wonder which story is right?

I guess it depends on your local store and how willing they are to work with you. Mine has apparently passed the buck to Samsung in its entirety.

I don't see why she can't contact Samsung directly as well.

Do either of you have your old phones? Why not just use your old one for now, unless it was traded in?

I'm pretty much going to turn my phone in at this point (forgot the wall charger or that would've happened earlier today. I had a 97% charge about 8 hours ago and now I'm sitting at a paltry 37%. My old note performs similarly, so I'm ok with going back at this point.

9/7 UPDATE:

Called Samsung, they said that all suppliers and cellphone providers will receive "New and Improved" Galaxy Note 7 for sale and exchanges this Friday, 9/9 THE EARLIEST and next Friday 9/16 THE LATEST.

*"New and Improved" meaning new battery and new charger.*

Everything else about the phone will stay the same.

I'm going to be calling Verizon everyday to see if they received the new shipment of the Note 7 and will come in-store to swap.

This phone is amazing, works for me and everyday use plus more. Definitely can't wait to exchange this for one that I could charge overnight.

For now, I will be setting alarms/timers for when my battery is charged to 100%.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Probably has something to do with where you purchased your phone. You got yours through Sams Club didn't you? I ordered mine through Verizon.

I did. And I have no intention of returning it through Sam's Club, primarily because (a) it's 35 miles away; and (b) Samsung will likely get me the replacement a lot faster than Sam's Club can.

At least somebody got some consistency! It's all just a matter of passing time until all our devices are replaced... then we can get back to actually USING the phones :)

Oh, I'm still using it. I'm just scared to charge it!

You're better off charging it every so often and not letting it get down past 60%. When I have to let it charge for an extended period, I notice that's when it gets real warm, otherwise just a 30-40 minute charge it doesn't have time to get too hot. Although, some people are reporting that the phones explode while just using em.

I use a Tylt Vu wireless charger for my nightstand, which is not a fast charger but it's very functional. I have a fast charger next to my laptop for quick charges during the day. I have never experienced any heating while charging. I did meet someone yesterday who said that her Verizon Note 7 gets incredibly hot while plugged in, to the point that it's uncomfortable to hold. I'm not worried about mine going up in flames, but hers seems to be a prime candidate!

I called Samsung UK and it was clear she was just reading out the email that was sent. I got told exchanges start 16th here.. But I had to wait for someone to ring me to clarify how it would all work. So in the UK dealing direct with Samsung I'm still none the wiser.

I talked to a Rep at my local Sprint earlier this week and they stated that they should have the replacement phones in soon and to wait for a text/call to notify me when they are available.

Now I sit here waiting for that contact and to see if the new Nexus is released first.

For what it's worth, AT&T made the swap painless for me. Still rocking the S7 Edge and don't think I'll be going back to the Note 7.

Samsung uk rang me half hour ago and advised me my service provider would be contacting me with their exchange programme. I pointed out that they won't because i bought direct from Samsung estore. He put me on hold and went to speak to his manager about it before coming back and saying my retailer would contact me. I reminded him Samsung are my retailer so he promised someone else from samsung online would ring back after 19th Sept.

Wasn't overly impressed with the lack of knowledge but he did assure me that the report incidents are still extremely isolated and still nothing at all reported in the UK.

So i'm still no further forward.. on the other hand some sort of update came ota today which fixed a little problem that was starting to bug me so i'm very happy with that.

Edit: I got another call but missed it. So i rang back on the number they left on the voicemail.. after over 2 hours on hold i give up.

I just talked to the Sprint store where I bought my phone and they said they currently have a good batch. Is there anyway to tell a good phone from a recalled phone. Just seems a little suspicious to me that they already have received replacement phones.
