Root Notes from the frontlines...(my conversation with LG about the bootloader)

So...more developments on the frontlines...

this is the most recent reply i have received...it may also be a canned reply but it doesn't seem like it

We are still waiting for the response from our security team.
They said that they worried about DRM contents when the phone has unlocked.

We will inform you that when it is available.

to which i replied

"Hello,

Thank you for the reply, unlocking the bootloader won't affect the DRM it will just make the developer community be able to flash a custom recovery onto the phone so we can ROM and Theme the phone, and make it more customizable for the end user...which is one of the selling points for Android phones, being able to customize them however you want.

i could be wrong about it affecting the DRM, but that is not our intention for unlocking the bootloader

Locked bootloaders wont affect drms, but root does lol

i just went and did that precise thing :P

so, i personally think that us bombarding them with polite requests into the progress of the bootloader unlocker is going to get something done...

it will still take some time, but they will get tired of the e-mails and finally give in eventually.



basically i want CM9 or AOKP on this phone :P and i will keep sending e-mails until that is possible

LG's terrible with waiting... had to wait month's for the OM 2.2.2 Source. :mad:

I hope they release the unlock bootloader soon.. ;)
I want to try CM(any) again.
 
I did a live chat with lg and they said that they did not make the software they just made the phone and that metropcs sends them everything that they want onto the phone etc... But then I live chatted metropcs and they say that lg does everything. Just give us the freakin boot loader!!!!!
 
I'm thinking about trading for the connect or something? I can't handle the locked bootloader. I'm gonna get the gs3 when it comes out anyone know a fun customizable phone to play with till then?

Try the esteem, has some good dev support with ROMs and themes out.check out their forums
 
Thanks to GBiggie and Shinyside

I just reactivated my Esteem untill a recovery comes out for the Motion. It is automatedly done through dialing #228 from Esteem while the Motion is off.
 
I love this phone im just a flash junkie! Lol. Even some build prop tweaks would be cool, ya know.
