Root Notes from the frontlines...(my conversation with LG about the bootloader)

Last night I got an email concerning the petition from the person who started it.

Hello.

Would You like to send a message to this mail
(developer@lge.com) and write about
bootloader etc? Oh, and please add the link to
our petition too (http://www.change.org/petitions/lg-...opportunity-to-unlock-bootloader-in-lg-phones), maybe our spam
will help.

Regards,
Sebastian.

Maybe we've been emailing the wrong department

Dear Sir

Thank you for your interest about our mobile phone.

“We received your request on LG Open Source Code Distribution site(Open Source Main).
This site is just for providing source codes of FOSS(Free and Open Source Software) we have used in our product.”

We are very sorry that we missed your e-mail.
Currently we are considering methods and target models for bootloader unlock to allow customers to install a custom OS(Operating System).
We are looking for efficient and safe methods to support it, and the target model will be selected with careful consideration. (e.g technical barrier such as platform limitation and/or mobile carrier’s policy).
We will let you know when we are ready to support unlocking the bootloader.
It is regrettable that we cannot give you the answer right away, and we hope this information helps you.

We hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
Sincerely yours,

LGE MC Company Open Source Code Distribution Center
Email : opensource-mc@lge.com

this sounds like they are going to try making a tool for One phone (i.e. The Target Model) and that they are probably going to test out the unlocking tool like Motorola and HTC did, have it available for the best sellers first and slowly let other phones onto the list
