NSA Secretly Collecting Phone Records

Its the government way.

Give up some freedoms in exchange for protection. The government is guilty of extortion.

We're slowly slipping into George Orwell's 1984. Iraq was our ally, then our enemy. Mujahideen was our ally, then they became the Taliban, and now they're our enemy. Fabricated wars to keep the war time productivity up. Government surveillance in our own homes, watching our every move and word spoken. Secrete laws that we don't know if we're breaking.
If you said any if this stuff three months ago you would've been told to take off the tin foil hat.

But I think the population in America is being deliberately dumbed down. The policies of restricting our freedoms slowly reigning in. Like that story about the frog in the pot of water that's slowly being warmed up, he doesn't notice because it's so gradual, and then he's cooked.

The war in Iraq had something of a 90% approval from the American people at the beginning. I knew it was BS from the get go. People are conditioned to believe the lies our government tells us, regardless of how many times they've lied. If the government was a girlfriend, I would've dumped her 20 years ago.

We have been intentionally dumbed down by our government. Ever heard of Flouride in drinking water? It has been proven repeatedly to lower IQ

We have been poisoned in so many ways...

GMOs... Protected by our government, but banned in 50+ countries. Proven to cause obesity, GI problems, cancer, mental disorders like depression, etc

Vaccines... Contain mercury and have been proven to cause Autism

ADD and the "treatments" for it...

If we quit injesting poison pharmaceutical companies that own elected officials wouldn't make as much money though

No, it's they invent an enemy and then take away our freedoms to protect us from this imaginary enemy. And if one of the groups our government has armed and trained attack us, even better, now they can expand on that story.

There is no end to the corruption. All empires throughout history have fallen. America has been great for so long because the Constitution of the United States is the single best, most powerful document ever written.

Civil religion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Look, I'm sorry, but your federal constitution was world leading 200 years ago, but times have changed. It really isn't all that great.

We have been intentionally dumbed down by our government. Ever heard of Flouride in drinking water? It has been proven repeatedly to lower IQ
heh

We have been poisoned in so many ways...

Indeed, to an extent, but by none of the things you actually mention.

GMOs... Protected by our government, but banned in 50+ countries. Proven to cause obesity, GI problems, cancer, mental disorders like depression, etc
Look, you yanks don't understand climate change, we Europeans have our scientific vices too.

Also, none of that is actually true. Seriously, add infowars.com to your block list.

Vaccines... Contain mercury and have been proven to cause Autism
Except they don't, and have saved millions of lives. Meanwhile, in NL's bible belt, kids are getting preventable diseases again! But at least their parents followed some quack's crazy advice, eh?

If we quit injesting poison pharmaceutical companies that own elected officials wouldn't make as much money though
Something something boo politicians.

Because they were used as a tool of minority based disenfranchisement.

If we imposed a political awareness test or any other test, there are people still alive today that marched on Washington for civil rights and voting rights, and that wouldn't sit too well with anyone.

And I don't know if you've heard of Michelle Bachmann. She's an American congresswoman, that jumped on the evil vaccine bandwagon, even though there's no proof whatsoever that vaccines do that kind of harm. Remember when you were a kid, and sometimes a kid in your school would get polio and you'd never see him around anymore? Me neither.

Edit: another thing I'd like to add, read up on this stuff, from multiple sources. Yesterday I was looking for info on X-Keyscore and the article I was reading drifted off into mercury and chem trails.... It sucks that the only people talking a lot about this are still stuck on fake conspiracies.
But for instance, ObamaCare, I've researched and researched this, and still cannot figure it out. The best answer I've drawn from it all is our nation's health care is broken. It's designed to make the share holders more profits while people suffer. ObamaCare may not be the right solution, but it's a lot better than what we have now. I haven't seen Michael More's movie, Sicko, but I believe he tackles this issue. Don't discount him just because he's opinionated. Most journalists are, but at least he's honest about it.

What I'm getting at is, don't spew the same nonsense you've heard on these right wing blogs that have no backing. Research.

I'm really getting tired of people from other countries always trying to say how we are wrong to want freedom. They have not lived here and watched freedom deteriorate. All they have is the main stream media that won't touch the truth.

Personally, I served in the military to protect this country and our freedom. I didn't risk my life to protect the government spying on all citizens, poisoning the population, killing innocent people for no reason other than they were inconvenient for the agenda, etc

The corruption in this country is out of control. DHS, NSA, IRS, TSA, etc have all openly stated that the citizens of this country are the enemy, while at the same time denying actual threats like Muslim extremists. If you aren't subjected to this, or have first hand knowledge of what is happening here... Just shut up! Your opinion is irrelevant if the only info you have is tv.

Firstly I'm not sure that anyone here has ever said that you are wrong to want freedom.

Secondly,I can't help but see the irony in your post, saying you have fought for those freedom's, yet in the next paragraph tell people to shut up and their opinion is irrelevant! Surely freedom of speech,a born given right(unlike certain other"rights"), stands regardless of how that person has chosen to pick their viewpoint? Wether, through tv, reading papers, magazines, books or reputable sites on the internet, it is still that person's own opinion, it just may differ to yours!

And my apology if that is deemed to be an attack at you and not the subject, I do agree with other parts that you have written regarding the corruption etc, I truly hope my previous post isn't interpreted as an attack etc, but the way I've written it may have been wrong, I'm tired :-P

The UK government has just used some anti-terrorism law to detain the Brazilian spouse of the reporter who broke the NSA spying news, for full nine hours without charge, (the maximum time the law can detain a person without charge,) and confiscated his laptop, cell phone, luggage, etc., without any charge. He was not even a Muslim, had never been one, and not related to one. He was only transiting through the UK back to Brazil without entering the country.

Apparently the UK authority did not even ask him any question. They just hold him for nine hours without giving him any reason, take away all his belongings, and then released him when the time was up.

It's obvious why the UK did it: it's intimidation by targeting and Galen's hassling a family member/loved one of the reporter who had embarrassed the government. The US and UK have sunk to a new low. How very Soviet of America and Britain.

Of course CNN, MSNBC and Faux News would never report it. The news broke on the internet and twitter.

Hate call bull on this but......

https://www.gov.uk/arrested-your-rights/how-long-you-can-be-held-in-custody

You can be held for 24hrs with no charge and an application can be applied for to hold you for longer, up to 96 hrs, especially if being suspected upon terrorism.

Also, why would there need to be a link to being Muslim? Not all terrorists are Muslim as not all Muslims are terrorists! The Irish were terrorists long before Muslims......

This is not to say, he wasn't held for no reason other than to intimidate, bit then you have no link to your story to back up what your saying!

Apparently the UK authority did not even ask him any question

Latest is that they spent the entire 9 hours questioning him very aggressively and threatening him with all sorts of dire consequences if he failed to co-operate fully. They also demanded - and got - the passwords for his devices. Apparently, this too is 'legal'.

On the (very, very minor) upside, they did allow him a lawyer despite that not being required by the law they used to stop him, Schedule 7 of the 2000 Terrorism Act. Probably allowed the lawyer in to explain that he was totally ****** legally.

The US and UK have sunk to a new low. How very Soviet of America and Britain

To be fair, the US denies any involvement - though they would say that, wouldn't they? - but it seems like a more than fair assessment of the UK: this was totally and utterly outrageous.

Another abuse of so called anti-terrorsim law - something the goverments assured us could never happen in our democracy. Then goverments wonder why we don't trust them when they - say - build vast organisations to monitor our every movement and communication.

Really: they should herd all the politicians into the Houses of Parliament, change the locks and rename it Westminster Prison.

You can be held for 24hrs with no charge and an application can be applied for to hold you for longer, up to 96 hrs, especially if being suspected upon terrorism

Actually, while what you quote is true, in this particular case, the guy was held under a little known power, Schedule 7 of the 2000 Terrorism Act which allows detention for up to 9 hours, (crucially) access to electronic equipment and no legal representation among other outrages.

Note that this act was passed before 9/11. Needless to say, it was passed by future war criminals, Tony Blair et al.

Also, why would there need to be a link to being Muslim? Not all terrorists are Muslim as not all Muslims are terrorists! The Irish were terrorists long before Muslims

Absolutely.

In fact, back when we were still using the stop and search powers of the later terrorism acts, police forces had to report stops by race and got into a lot of trouble when it was found the power was used disproportionately on people who might be thought of as Muslim.

Have to say, when you're in a 'war' with an avowedly Muslim organisation, I do find that kind of a strange balance to impose. You have to wonder how many random people were stopped just to balance the numbers ..

I found it they and USA are using the spy drones to arrest americans. If this upholds there's nothing stopping them from doing it to every American

The American people are the terrorist according to the American government is what I'm reading from this

Court Upholds Domestic Drone Use in Arrest of American Citizen - US News and World Report

oh yeah that happened a couple years ago. for 6 freaking cattle they called in a million dollar drone. A full grown cow is maybe $2,000 depending on where/who you are. sounds like a good use of money to me.

but thats nothing compared to the new fun things going on these days. you might want to check out the 2.5 billion we are spending to launch two drone blimps to hover over Washington DC year round.

Government Blimp Drones Over Washington DC

another gift to the multinational evil corporation Raytheon (look them up) whos made billions upon billions in the wake of the "terrorist scare" since 9/11.

america is getting awesome!! Freedom!!!

He was not even a Muslim, had never been one, and not related to one.

What on earth does that have to do with anything?

I'm really getting tired of people from other countries always trying to say how we are wrong to want freedom.
I have plenty of freedom. You should see how many parties I can vote for!

while at the same time denying actual threats like Muslim extremists.
Why are you so obsessed with this 'muslim threat'?

Jesus, people these days.

And as said, the Irish were terrorists in the same sense Muslims were. Fun times.

Well, here in the US, must terrorist attacks are from Muslim extremists, with the occasional white supremacist.

I, as an American, am truly ashamed at how our media portrays Islam.

Sure terrorists are using their religion to brainwash and produce extremists. But sometimes even Christians do the same thing. (ever heard of Westboro Baptist Church?)

I am a Christian as well, and I have learned through studying the Bible almost the full of Christ's teachings is to love all.

That's all I have to say about that so how about not bringing up ANY religion in a negative light? And get back on topic. Thanks.

Anyways.. I can't believe we have allowed governments to take away our freedoms like this. Detain us without telling us why? Can any of you imagine the stress they are putting on these people?

Seems to me they're more scared of a revolt than terrorism.

I'm against all organized religions. They've brought humanity so much peace.....
How many millions have been killed in the name of God/Allah?

They are scared of a revolt. That is the reason they are spying on all of the communications of every American (they need to know who to round up first when SHTF), building concentration camps to detain everyone (FEMA camps), ordering mass amounts of plastic coffins and setting up massive grave sites, they have transport trains full of shackles placed in several locations to transport all of these victims, and training everyone in the DOD that anyone that talks about "liberty, state's rights, or wants the world to be a better place" is a terrorist. That is why in the last year DHS has bought enough ammo to shoot every person in this country 6 times. That is why the police are militarizing. That is why the Pentagon said a couple months ago the military could act within the US (extremely illegal btw) and doesn't even need direction from the POTUS during civil unrest.

Is there any evidence for all this? Or is it - as it usually is with these things - a few isolated nuggets of truth that have been misunderstood, twisted, blown up out of all proportion, then strung together with large dollops fantasy to form (yet another) mother of all conspiracy theories?

I know it's futile to engage with this sort of thing, but honestly, reality check: all of that would involve MILLIONS of people. Could the (apparently totally inept) government even start thinking of something on that scale - let alone planning and implementing it - without it being on the front page of every newspaper and newsite on the planet?

If it's possible, then there really are aliens in Area 51 .. :hahaha:

Still clinging to your CIA created term "conspiracy theorist" I see. Well those "conspiracy theorists" sure have been proven right a lot lately haven't they. Are you still denying the NSA spying on everyone, or have you accepted that "conspiracy theory?"

Thanks for the links.

Unfortunately, when your most credible sources are Fox News and a Russian state (= FSK, previously KGB?) funded TV station, you're kinda in trouble. Are these stories reported in any credible sources?

As for the conspiracy theorists being proved right: don't recall any.

We all knew the NSA existed. Anyone who took any notice of the Patriot Act and similar Bush-era actions (continued by Obama), the recent 'revelations' are no real surprise: it's pretty much exactly what people opposed to the Patriot Act said was going to happen. It's been the backstory for any number of movies and TV shows for years.

Calling it a conspiracy is kinda like calling Iraq a conspiracy, given that went down pretty much exactly how the French, the Russians, the Germans and the millions of anti-war protesters said it would.

Just curious, what exactly do you call credible sources, since even the DOD providing their own training material and other events caught on video are not credible?

CNN, NBC, CBS? The media outlets that the high ups (CEO, board of directors, etc) all have close family members in the Obama administration? Is the only media you think is credible the ones that have reasons to cover for the corruption?
