Root [Odin] Clockworkmod Recovery - Not compatible with Rom Manager yet

Yes, please do! And thanks!

alright just gotta wait till the files gets uploaded. it put all the files into one zip folder so this might take a while. when you get the files zip the odin+ops file and dont unzip the cwm-tar file, you put that file into odin as it is into the PDA button, youll see what im talking about lol

HERE YOU GO. unzip the the folder that contains all the files ;)

i included hte indulge drivers just incase if you dont already have them

I hear ya:(
Installing the recovery via Odin should work-have done many Admire's that way. Try deleting all the files that you downloaded originally to install CWM-start new-less risk and at least a bad download can be ruled out.
I'm not saying
operator error
it will work but....(KD man:D)
Y the luck did you tell me this

Hey there I was wondering if I can pick anyone's brain for a minute I rooted my buddies admire awhile ago put a ROM on it and everything was good. I don't know what he did to it but he said it started having issues
...no calls no text. Decided to try a different rom so I put a Couple different ROMs on his sd card that I know run great. Booted into cwm and wipedcache/dalvik/FAC.reset. flashed ROM and on reboot got stuck at splash screen. After waiting and nothing I boot back into cwm and get these errors. I tired to reinstall cwm via Odin with same results any ideas or help would be much appreciated thanks

You didnt format the system, I bet that's the problem. redo everything but include a format system. Then flash. If that doesn't work then try the link below

http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=618191
Make sure you read it right

I did format system didn't mention it though thanks for the support. Back to stock and on from there thanks man big time

You dont need to format, its just a compatibility issue between recovery manager/file system/ OS. Just carry on in future. It will clear once everything flashed matches compatibility wise.

I've tried 6 times now.
The green bar keeps getting stuck halfway through.

I've done this in the past to a different admire, I don't know why it's not working this time.

Try erasing the program from your computer-run a disk cleanup and download again and try-something on your computer is corrupting the download IMO

Finally got it to work.
I read somewhere on xda sometimes your specific USB cable might stop the process for some reason even if it works for charging, transferring files, ect.
Seemed unreliable and stupid to me, but I was desperate to get ClockWork working.
I switched to a different phone's USB cable, and Odin was able to complete the process.

Thanks OP!

This does not mean you can flash CWM through Rom Manager yet! Do not try it. In fact, Rom Manager is not supported yet. You are warned.

I'm too tired to type a long post, so I'll be brief. Flash this with Odin found in the same forum as this post. Haven't tested flashing zips because I've never made one before. Nandroid works because I spent all day trying to get it to work. Your warranty is now void. Please don't sue me.

Almost forgot to thank Shabbypenguin for his proper BoardConfig.mk and for dealing with me all day, Unforgiven512 for getting Odin working, PlayfulGod for his input, DRockstar, Koush, and everyone else.

Steps:

1. Download http://goo.gl/3z64A (Odin) and http://k0nane.info/rom/indulge-drivers.exe (Drivers)
2. Install the drivers. There's not much to it.
3. Follow the steps to enter download mode at [ACS] THE ODIN THREAD: Return to stock OR in short:
a. Turn the phone all the way off, then remove and replace the battery and make sure the usb cable is unplugged.
b. Plug the computer end of the cable into your computer.
c. Hold down the Camera button, tightly. The Camera button is kinda flimsy.
d. While still holding down the Camera button, plug the usb cable into your phone.
e. Wait a few seconds. You should be at a screen warning you about how custom roms are dangerous to your warranty. You already know that, so hit Volume Up.
4. On your computer, extract Odin and open it.
5. Without touching any other options (don't do it, I'm not helping if you do,) click the OPS button and select the .ops file in the same folder as Odin.
6. Click PDA and select the cwm tar I posted in this thread and just click OK when it warns about an "invalid image."
7. Click Start and wait.
8. If your phone reboots, you have CWM installed and can boot into it by holding Volume Down and Back while turning on the phone. If the green bar with the timer doesn't move after about a minute, take your battery out and start over.

EDIT: Do not PM anyone I credited for ROMs. They don't know.

Hey I'd love to know how to get my Admire to run off SD card completely. I believe I wiped the phone itself :( but I can still get into recovery.

I dont think it's possible to get a phone to completely run off an sd card. You could use dark tremor's a2sd to run user apps off the sd card but that's it. And if you can get into recovery just flash a new rom

I am trying to install CWM. I have the phone rooted already. Start Odin, select the SCHR720.ops and admire-cwm.tar. Yellow com 7 box, the first block starts, goes to RESET and the clock goes up to 5:05, window turns blue and reads PASS.
Window on bottom left shows <1> recovery.img download..
<1> 1/1 Finished, <1> reset pda.., <0> started timer, <1> Close port and wait until rebooting. Does not reboot. I have two admires, one worked fine and one is being a pain. Reboot to recovery and no CWM. Any suggestions?

Disregard, I tried again this morning on a different computer and all is good.

I think I know what you're talking about, where cache stops being writable. My phone was like that for a long time which is why I stopped working on it. I had it booted off the sdcard, so it is feasible, but I no longer have the files nor the phone. It was a simple init.rc hack that mounted partitions on the sdcard, so if someone else wants to try getting that to work with 2.3.6, just replace the mounting and permissions bits with /dev/block/mmc. Even booted like that, it still let me use the usb mount function. Right after I upgraded and before giving it away, I flashed Samsung's official 2.3.6 for Metro to it and it seemed to resolve the issue. I suggest you try that before giving up for loss.

I'm very new to Android this is my first phone sch-r720 it was given to me basically screwed. the above flash recovery worked well. You guys are wizards. I forsure need practice with linux. I have a question for SuigintouLain or anyone who may answer its probably a lame question. This phone is rooted or so I think it is. I have clockworksmod recovery 5.0.2.8 installed with ANDROIDAPEX/2.0 that should be the ROM. my question is this in my file manager at the top directory (root) the symbol is /(r/o). what does that stand for? I'm think read only and if so why is it read only if its rooted? I'm not is a hurry so take your time.

Yeah it stands for read only. And being rooted doesn't mean all files manager apps will give you access to system files, but for those that have r/o you should be able to switch to r/w

Hey, I think this a great post! My friend gave me his phone for a day because he could not figure out how to root it, and I wanted to help. So... naturally before I root it, I would want to back it up, because if I soft brick it, I could back it up. I have been surfing the web and finally found this. The instructions can be a little vague, but if you are careful, it is pretty easy to get to the final goal. ThankS Very much SuigintouLain!

So, when I tried to put odin back on my phone the way you told me to in the OP, it seems as if it didn't work...2 hours with a green running bar, counting down time. So, I closed it all out.

I went with an Old opa file and an old tar of RH720. Tried it the way it is described in the OP. Again, another 2 hours.

So, I walked the older path. Did everything the way it says to in the ACS link. Wham bam, everything worked just fine and was finally able to root 2.3.6.

Not sure how it all got messed up, but I can not install Odin threw the PDA tar, one the One Package tar

You might be a little confused. Odin isn't something you put on your phone. Odin is the program you use on your computer to flash things onto your phone and clockworkmod recovery is the thing you're flashing with odin. Also flashing cwm doesn't automatically make you rooted. You still gotta actually do the root methods, but I guess if everything worked out for you than its all honky dorey.

I think you're a complete moron. I spent hours trying to find the 3 files: admire-cwm.tar, oden multi_downloaderv4.42 and schr720.ops to do this clockworkmod, not knowing that I had to become a member to get these files. So finally I become a member and I already had the indulge driver. So I click on the odin file to get those 3 files and I get an error message!!! Are you aware of this? If you're not you should be and if you are you should take the time to update this problem but I don't think you can or give a damn in the first place. You and few other of these "computer genuises/Whizzes" piss me off and frustrate the shit out of me. You don't know what the hell your doing and your very unprofessional. You have wasted allot of my time, jerk off!

The ops file isn't required and dude calm down lol. A simple search on google would have given you all 3 files in less than 5mins. Also you gotta realize that these people have lives and I'm sure they get real busy to the point where they can't always manage all their posts and stuff. You just ask if someone has it and If someone does I'm sure they'll upload it.
