They probably do it by 10s on the X in order to conserve battery. The more often it has to check the battery level, the more battery it uses.
I don't see why the system would check the battery levels any more or less if the display is in 10% or 1% increments. I'm sure whatever check it's doing is using negligible battery anyhow. The cumulative battery level checks for the day is probably equal to having the screen on for 10 seconds.

I had read tha the Droid X's that were shipping right now had the 2.2 update and the rest of us had to wait for the update. So I just received my new replacement droid X and there is no 2.2 update on the device.

yeah, the only phone that is shipping with 2.2 is the Droid 2, not the Droid X. We won't have froyo until September

lesson to be learned.... cant always believe all the junk on the interwebs lol...

it will come soon enough

It doesn't matter now. I went to activate the phone and found that there was a problem with the speaker on the phone. So it's going back.

EDIT***
I did a little searching and it looks like they are still using the same CDMA chip in the Droid, Droid 2, and Droid X. Doesn't look like either one of these three will support Verizons 4G network which is LTE.

My best guess is that VZW is probably 8+ months from releasing a LTE Smartphone.

From what I've read VZW is still having internal discussions as to how to implement LTE. If this is true then it's likely going to be a while before LTE phones hit the streets.

this is true. it will be 9 months at the VERY least. probably more. the first LTE devices will be the MiFi, aircards, etc. it will be quite some time til we see LTE phones.
LTE will be reserved for mobile broadband for a while. there are both business and logistics reasons behind this decision.

okay so i posted a thread similar to this one before, but now my phones problems are worse. it powers off by itself, n launcher pro when i try to resize a widget the phone freezes for like 30 seconds(and i know ppl who hav launcher pro and say it doesnt give them problems on other phones) some components of the screen, like the slider, will be in landscape mode when everything isnt, my phone freezes for no reason, i dont get 3g in alot of areas. and motorola said something about fixing the low speaker through a patch. is that even possible? and yeah does anyone reccomend the incredible?

Do a hard reset as someone suggested. Leave the screens blank, download LauncherPro, then install. I had lag when I had widgets running then installing LP later.

When VZW implements LTE is when they will revamp the whey they bill for data usage. "tiered"
I think tiered data is just a phase. They will realize the error of their ways after awhile. Remember paying for minutes with AOL back in the day? Eventually they'll realize the business model is garbage and go back to unlimited data plans.

I just got my DX a few days ago, 2.1.

This phone is great, and I can wait for 2.2.

My phone rebooted while sitting on my desk this afternoon and right after it did, my notification tone started going- like 5 times in a minute. I was very excited, thinking, "I wonder if my phone just got beamed the FroYo OTA." Alas, the notifications were just for texts and e-mails. Still not sure why it rebooted just sitting on my desk......

I hope you are right but suggest you don't hold your breath for them to revert back to unlimited data plans!

So long as Big Red see's itself in the cat bird seat I'm thinking its management is gonna take full advantage of it's perceived position. Getting them to revert will likely require another carrier to switch back to unlimited first... and VZW noticably hemmoraging subscribers to that other carrier.

I'll still hope haha. AT&T released some statistic saying that 98% of their users use less than 2GB of data or some crap like that. My friend, who has an iPhone 3GS, has decided to prove them wrong. He almost hit 4GB last month haha

VZW will see LTE announced in January, more than likely LTE phones by March.

LTE will be up by middle of next year in select markets.

I was really hoping to see some leaked Froyo updates shared around for the X, especially after hearing about all the leaks for everyone else... guess I was spoiled in the Eris and Droid forums with all the 2.1 leaks. The various clock kernals and some stable implementations of JIT really improved the performance and flow of the Eris. I've developed a complex where Froyo is going to make the X seamless and completely capable :-) I love the phone more than the Eris, Droid and DI, but it seems to struggle and stutter, so to speak and I believe it's capable of overcoming what I think is sowtware related issues.
Maybe I'm just a wild eyed dreamer...

September is close enough, but It's fun to hear about early updates and leaks!

Have you tried Launcher Pro? I haven't found the DX to struggle and stutter whatsoever, after stopping use of the stock launcher.
