I have a Vodafone Desire, but there is nothing cosmetically vodafone about it, so presumably it's just the internal setting for sms, etc, that VF need to customise? how long can that take!?!?

I also have mine from vodafone (contract)...it's unbranded and unlocked
I think vodafone just needs to add some settings so that ur sim will work on the network
before desire i had an omnia (i900) (unlocked) and when the update came out i've updated it with the rom from the samsungs web page and wverything worked apart from calling, text, internet...and everything related to the network. i've took the phone back and they put their rom and it worked.
all that I so from vf on the rom was the logo on booting

PS: it is tomorow...can I have some frozen yogurt? please

I've just had a thought. If 3 now brand their Desires (software number 1.22.771.1), will they send a branded 2.2 ROM to non-branded Desires they've previously supplied (software number 1.21.405.2) to bring them all in line?

If this is the case I will not be updating to FroYo via 3, as I've currently got an unbranded Desire, which they supplied to me in May, and it's a refreshing change to have an unbranded phone without the accompanying bloat.

Because we're very advanced in terms of technology?
Because we rock?

I do hope it's real :D:D:D

You have the best night clubs in the world. The best parties in the world. Hot women, "coffee" shops and now youre getting Froyo first too. This just isnt fair!

I'm the same, I would have thought that unbranded phones will get and unbranded ROM direct from HTC and branded users will have to wait for 3's branded ROM. When I had my TouchHD I had to enter my IMEI before it would take me to the update so HTC must have a record of what IMEI's are branded and what are stock.

Although I wonder what happens with debranded people:confused:.

Anyhoo if they try and push a branded ROM onto me I'll be rooting and going straight back to Stock HTC.:D

I have an unlocked and unbranded handset, i bought it totally sim free. nothing to do with any carrier - so i have the generic rom on it.

when i put my o2 sim in, it spotted new sim and guided me through a setup procedure. It configured all o2-specific carrier settings automatically.

a couple of days later, i tried a friends vodafone sim in it, and the desire spotted the new sim and (with my permission) reconfigured data settings.

So, that tells us that operator branded firmware is not required solely to implement network settings - operators must therefore customise it for other reasons.

At the end of the day, i am sure that an HTC firmware release will be the generic english+western europe language set first - and operator branded ones will folllow.

However, it may be that operator branded ones follow pretty soon after. If an operator's customisation is limited to adding say an app or two, then it would not take them long to implement.

PS. WOO! first post.

hi i rooted my phone by that i mean i now have the ability to install costume Roms however i still have the original T-mobile uk branded one on their and have not tweaked or changed it in anyway would i still get a OTA update.

Asked the same question over on XDA, When the OTA update comes the Dev's will have a rooted version out in no time at all. So it's just a matter of flashing the new rooted official ROM :)

Does anybody know how or where to get the ROM that's on the Chinese HTC Desire? Chinese HTC Desire come pre-installed with Froyo. So there must be an official 2.2 ROM with Sense out there for the Desire.

Ive hit the 'system update' button today more times than ive hot dinners in my life....

still nothing...

im going to sue HTC on the basis of psychological damage.

Seen a lot of these arrogant posts recently. How does it help exactly?

About as much as everyone getting over excited over nothing more than internet rumours spread by lazy media and the same people that send their mates those fake scam/virus emails - you know the ones that must be true cos it happened to my mates mums boss' cleaners untie who's a copper

UNTIL HTC make a official statement, then stop getting your hopes up.

As for the chinese page, trust that as much as your
