Please help

I have unbranded UK Desire, bought from Carphonewarehouse, networked on Orange.

I still have had no 2.2 OTA update.
Is there anything i need to turn on/off to get this?

I've been waiting for this update since May, now can't beleive its out, and that I still haven't got it!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::confused:
 
just as an fyi.. after the upgrade i had to recreate my apn entry. It had disappeared. Once I recreated it I could re-connect again.

Sorry to sound like a smart ass it's not my intention but have you tried
menu/settings/about phone/system software updates, then check now?

thats what i have done but its offering me an upgrade to version 1.21.405.2 only and that was the update that stopped my wifi working. No 2.2 yet for me.

Renamed the file to update.zip and copied it to the root of my sdcard (goldcard) and rebooted the mobile into recovery mode (volume down and switch on).
All seems fine so far.

I tried this - my issue is that when I run through the Gold Card instructions, I do the HxD stuff, copy and paste, save, etc. Then Windows tells me that the card is not formatted, hence I can't copy the .zip file to it.

I'm getting the same error - I assume it's cos we're trying to put an non-branded rom image onto a branded (in my case T-Mobile) handset. I think we need to use a Gold Card (sd card that's been fiddled with) but when I try that, I find that I can't actually copy anything to the SD card.

hm you might be actually right, but i really dont want to create a goldcard or root or anything like that. i just want to have everything nice and clean and simple. but then hows that possible that people who are with other networks and who are branded got the update? some guy on htc's facebook page got the update on 3 and apparently some other guy got it for his orange phone in ireland (though he may be lying, but why would he?)

so assuming that this is true, the update should work for us?

The Sense Froyo ROMs that have been on the go for a few weeks now support Wifi N, it's seems to be a software fix not hardware.

I don't know if it's meant to be in the this update from HTC but the other ROMs have it as an additional extra.

Very puzzling as i have the same as you orange branded from CWH and the update went in a treat?? Looking forward to hearing how you solve it mate. Sorry i couldn't help you this time.

The HTC Desire has a Wireless-N adaptor, but 2.1 couldn't use it. I though 2.2 was going to address this, but it looks like it hasn't.

This gives the error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed

Could this be because my handset (unlocked, unbranded) has been rooted? If so, how do I unroot it? Do I need an unrooted image?
 
my desire bought from the UK and am now in India. got a notification abt a 90mb update for download today. tried. first time it got stuck at 2% sayin thr no space in memory card eventhough it had 2.4gb free. so i restarted phone again and downloading second time goin now 6%, without any stops. hope is works out complete.

nope the second time also, its the same. showing no space in memory card. but actually 2.4 gb is free in the card. does it need a 32gb card or wat?? its so weird.
can i download the file from somewhere and install in manually on the desire through USB??
