Mine did that for a few days, would only display 6 contacts out of 200 or something, fine now though. Dont think i changed anything that i remember anyway.

I have gotten bored of waiting.... It seems half of the stuff that 2.2 was meant to bring to the party doesn't actually work anyway an dthe other half is full of bugs unless you are an Android programmer lol :D Can't be arsed to be excited about it anymore, It'll turn up when it turns up and I'll check and decipher the complainers from the genuine bug reporters and decide if I actually want it :D
Have I missed something but do the following statements ring true:

The iTunes Sync is some mystical function that doesn't actually exist on 2.2?
The much shouted about 720 HD Recording doesn't actually work?
Save to SD only actually applies to a small percentage of the market. The facility was shouted for and now it is here, it's premature and the market place doen't actually fully support it yet?
The phones privacy settings are hidden in the deepest darkest depths of the phone?
None of the Google/Facebook contacts glitches have been sorted?

I may be wrong but that's my perception, I feel a bit of a dick to be fair for being fished in lol :D

Not noticed this - But I have noticed that the super led screen in the later (black) desire is a LOT less white than the AMOLED in my (brown) desire!

Hey guys

just wondering a thing, i wrote this before but it didn't get a reply. If anybody watched google I/O, you would've seen an app that they used to stream music and such directly from the pc and it seemed to work really well. Problem is, its not anywhere to be seen on froyo.

Anyone shed any light?

thanks

It was an app, not a part of the OS, and it hasn't been released yet. I imagine the issue, as with most new music apps, is the record companies many objections to people listening to their music in any kind of new way.

there are a few apps (both free and paid) available which you can use for this. For example Gmote and Andromote.

Did my upgrade yesterday and, so far, everything seems to be working. All my settings and apps where preserved. Just successfully used the WiFi hot-spot feature. Too early to tell about battery life, but looking good so far.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this here although I have mentioned it elsewhere. If you go to 2.2 as an official HTC upgrade it'll upgrade your bootloaded to .92 or .93 and then the unlocker approach will no longer let you root. Found this out the hard way. There are instructions on downgrading to .80 and 2.1 again but you need a real goldcard for this and that's no picnic, although it is do-able. I'm back now on opendesire 2.2 rom and its working fine.

If you want to unroot then install the official 2.1 rom from XDA and you will no longer be rooted and can take the official 2.2 upgrade getting you back on the clean path and should be covered under your warrantee.

So I got a quick question.

I got a Desire from Telus in Canada, and unlocked it. I'm now using it for Rogers. Anyobdy know when I'd see the update? I thought they were out already.

i have noticed that since going to 2.2 my battery drains twice as fast as it used to. I uninstalled task killer because apps just restart themselves anyhow but besides dolphin using 10% none of my other apps exceed 3% of battery usage(and only two of them besides my browser are on the list) so why the drastic change in battery usage? moto droid

i have bought the HTC Desire from hong kong, and im currently in Kuwait, how do i update to FROYO 2.2? is there something i should do or just wait till HTC sends something?

With Sense most of the changes are "under the bonnet\hood". You are on the right version, most obvious change will be the 720P video recording and some apps will allow you to move to SD when going to manage applications, there are a few other HTC customisations but nothing earth shattering. I'm sure there a thread somewhere outlining all the additions, just dont get confused with the standard Google changes these would only be visible on a stock Google ROM or a Nexus One

Found them

Thanks

Like you say "nothing earth shattering" :)

Did have APN setting problems, but this sorted itself out by going to the APN settings and making sure a green dot was on next to the service provider, then came out and everything fine now.

Hi all,

I just wanted to make a post, Ive had a desire now since april and loved it very much, the best thing since sliced bread.

I have had an issue however with the reboot loop and overheating, Ive read posts throughout this forum and elsewhere on the net. My phone was becomming unbearable after putting 2.2 on there so I sent it back to htc and after waiting 2 weeks for a repair from HTC, it appears they have installed firmware 2.1 on there (despite an email saying they were waiting for parts).

My paperwork says problem: 1.power off during operation / fail to wake up.

It doesnt say anything anywhere about replacing parts on there, so to me it looks like theyve reflashed it with 2.1 (Ive read theyve done this with a lot of other users).

My dilema is this, Ive got no idea how to reflash it and are a bit wary of bricking the phone. So is it worth going through the update again or should I stay on 2.1 as all seems good.

Cant really pinpoint the problem but a lot indicates to the above, just wondered if I could get your valid opinion as previously 2.2 seemed to cause the problems?

Is 2.2 too buggy?

Any help / suggestions appreciated.

Got an Orange branded phone with

2.1-update1

Baseband version:
32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11

Kernel Version :
2.6.29-3cb3dfbf
htc-kernel@and18-2 #1

Build number :
1.15.73.12 CL155070 release-keys

Soft number:
1.15.73.12

Browser version ;
Webkit 3.1

I just wanted to know if the other Orange branded phone on this forum have the same details as above.

Thanks

I'm fed up of Orange World Map TV and like to move on!!!!

so then does this mean that i need to be checking every few days till it comes available for me?

You could just wait ;)

You will be notified when your update is available, but I'm sure you know it depends on carrier, branding (and more importantly in your case Region) etc so it may not be ready for you. Although its generally ok on 2.2 there are a few bugs and people have been having problmes so it might actually be a good thing you've not updated yet.

I have 2 choices right now - wait for the Orange update or install the vanilla 2.2/Sense ROM (not bothered about custom ROM's, I just want to update to 2.2)

The only thing I haven't been able to find out is whether or not I will lose some of the talk plan features that I currently get from Orange. For example, my talk plan includes Orange Maps/Sat Nav and the Maps app is pre-installed on my branded Desire. If I change to non-Orange 2.2, then Orange Maps obviously won't be installed. Can I get this feature installed again after the upgrade?

Also, would I need to contact Orange after an unofficial upgrade and ask them to activate the talk plan settings, such as access points, text message centre number, etc, or are these things stored on the SIM?

After reading these forums for a few weeks, I'm happy that I could update to 2.2 now, but I'm worried about losing my talk plan functionality.

Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure you should be able to redownload the maps app following the instuctions here Orange Maps

With the APN and message center number you should be able to make note of them and re add manually if they aren't automatically set up or somebody on Orange who has already taken the plunge should be able to sort you out
