Official Desire HD Release Thread

I was on the phone yesterday to T-Mobile about upgrading. She said they didn't have any stock in atm, I thought it had not been released yet but she said they get a few batches in for testing, and then send them out bit by bit, mine was put on priority and is coming tomorrow :). Just a little bit of info. Got a great deal too :)

Lucky you, they wouldn't budge at all for me. I guess it's down to spend. I ended up having to pay

Why is it taking my phone so long to get here! The HD7 is out tomorrow... a phone with a good gaming platform does sound really appealing...

You would think that with the online threat that high street stores would be fighting to keep up with them.

I have not ordered a DHD yet, not sure about the only site I can get it from on O2 (Buymobilephones.net)

Called into CPW this morning, spoke to a nice lady who told me the DHD was in stock. But computer cant upgrade on O2. Yet. Don't know when that will be available. T-mobile, Orange or Vodamoan. I refuse to use Vodamoan, bad experience there. Orange has poor reception in my house, its pretty much unusable. T-mobile website told me I could make calls, but 3g coverage in my area was none. Not even poor, NONE! The lady even stated T-mobile not good coverage here.
hmm, I seem to remember that all initial release info stated ALL networks would carry it, though on O2 it would only be via CPW.

Sim free then? No cant do that.

Off to P4U (shiver). Had one DHD in stock. Orange or Vodamoan :(
Would I like a Blackberry. Got the new ones in.
No, I would ask for one if I wanted a BB.
How about a Galaxy S? Its even better than the Iphone, he said.
:confused::confused: I never mentioned Iphones.

Can you do it sim free then?

No its not out on PAYG yet, might be 6 months, we don't know.

i asked can you not just sell the handset, but, "No, we dont do that."

So well done to those that got it simfree from P4U, my local store wont sell it.

Back to checking online then, and waiting, I guess.

O2 won't stock for "business reasons"..Basically the eggs in the basket for the HD7 for them..they have taken exclusivity on the 16gb version to my understanding.

In relation to your signal issues,

Three, Virgin Mobile use T-Mobiles network..T-Mobile is now Orange's network.

Tesco, Giffgaff use O2's network

Vodafone use their own

Not much choice there pal.

Daft as it sounds, could use a repeater?

Any way to boost mobile signal strength? - AVForums.com

02 have stated they will not be selling this phone at all

"Business Reasons"

Hey guys, just went into phones4u, they have the dHD, but its out of stock. The manager said he's collecting 2 for himself and a collegue and said if I wanted one he could collect an extra one before the store tomorrow morning. We went over deals and came up with this

500 minutes
Unlimited texts
500mb internet

can u take me on board too? LOL.
hopefully tmr phone4u will call me to get the sim free version.
as what you said above store like p4u and cpw doesn't do credit checking?
both of them offering very bad deal. lol. MPD still the best deal for me.
i ask them to do credit checking as i suppose they eventually will do it if i register a new contract. right?
there are a few unit in cpw and no customer wanting them. LOL. as what the guy told me. i might go down the city again to try and ask for a sim free. hmm.

My deal comes with strings attached lol.

P4U and CPW do credit checks on behalf of the network operator...but they can pass them if they want to if they come back as failed if they really need that sale (IE sales person behind on targets)

MPD will do the credit check on behalf of T-Mob aor Voda

EDIT: On a side note, prices updated on post and updating news as we speak

oh.. din know that. so how to get that sales person to pass it for me? lol.
i think i should buy him mcd for lunch. hahahah.
but the voda and orange deal doesn't suit me. a lot more expensive from my calculation.
rather get a sim free and sign 10pound a month from t-mobile. lol.
got to see whether p4u is calling me tmr or not and the price the quote me for sim free.

I'm good at reading people but I can't read em if I don't seem em ;)..So what I'll do is the typical response hehe

If Its A Woman

Offer to take her out, food, drinks..Worked for me on a particular young lass who put me on a nice legacy package at O2 xD

If It's A Bloke.

Sly bit of cash..bribery yes, but hey ;)..also some drinks :)

Out of interest, what phone do you currently have?

FURTHER EDIT:

Prices updated to reflect, GUM has shot up, news article updated..Will do a tariff refresh on Tesco in a bit.

As you can appreciate its down to me to update it or the mods and my time is very limited at the moment with work and other projects, so please bare with me.

ive now got 3 potential contracts with orange and ive passed every credit check with p4u even though my rating is shocking-dont know if its to do with orange or the bloke on the phone just passing me lol

Damn your epic multi quotes lol.

Not really but I was kinda stuck, couldn't shift from T-Mobile because of bad credit. Still 1200 mins, 500 texts, 60 euro mins (my Dad lives in Spain so that'll come in handy) and the Unlimited FUP Interwebz.

Shame I won't use any where near the 1200 minutes though!

EDIT: Phone was free, and so it should be lol.

Well with me on the early shift at work, its so hard to keep up, only thing I can is massive multi replies...I'm so starting to feel like a unofficial mini/rep/human resource lol.

Get any free insurance?..also you would be valued higher within T-Mobile as you pay more..so that spins it in good light for you?

There's so many different variables for credit it's tough to say. I got accepted for an O2 contract (albeit with a

Fair enough, better to multi reply than not reply at all eh?!

There is a silver lining there then lol, no insurance though, I'm still in 2 minds whether to take anything.

lol.. im an asian and i guess taking a girl out wouldn't be my best choice. hahahaha. might seduce her a lil bit eh. lol

bribery? im paying almost 500pound for the phone which is quite a lot. T_T uhh..
i guess i hv to wait and see how it goes.

i'm using iphone 3g (3 years i guess?) and blackberry bold 9700 (1year +).

lol spencer with your chat up lines bless ya

funny that matt isnt it i hear orange are the easiest to get passed on credit checks but obviously not true

those guy in cpw write my place of birth in UK which obviously not from the ascent i'm using when talking. typical asian english (but i can talk with british ascent). i think that make my credit check get decline. hmm.. wonder how they do the checking. or should i need to have a lot of money inside? hmm..

well for p4u, one question they ask me "do u have a 3 years address in the UK?" i say "no" and the guy reply "sorry, we cant proceed with it"

i hope they can do something for international students. LOL. those who will be studying for more than 2 years like me. haha. nah, just a dream. lol.
