There is a known problem with executing one of the shells on a mac, so I ran into that problem on my mac and asked a friend if I could use his PC. When using the PC I didn't have a problem executing the shell. I had a problem with ["If there is any command prompt problems or the pc says waiting for device,go into control panel/sys/device manager and find android 1.0 right click and update driver."] because both his XP and Win7 machines were unable to find a driver for the phone.

My laptop has a similar issue, it finds several android drivers just not the one so adb sees my phone lol.

Far as cmw 2.5 dunno I use cmw 3.

Well, I appreciate you trying to help :D but you can see why I'm anxious to run 2.2. A combination of setCPU, autokiller, lightweight launcher and sms, as well as a dozen bloatware apps frozen by Titanium Backup still hasn't satisfied my thirst for a speedy and responsive phone.

POINT IS: im not a cheapy and who's complaining, but why dont you buy a $400 phone since you suggest it...lmao anyway to those out there if you want to pay for an upgrade...be my guest...but for a new person to come on here qouting on something that he knows nothing about is FUNNY.

But find one post that showed i complain about any phone...

Did anyone actually get the update yet? Or at least stop by metro to see if they had the update yet? If metro still doesn't have it screw 2.2 I'll see it when I see it. Meanwhile as the wait continues, can someone tell me how to save my apps to my SD card without rooting. I'm running low on phone memory. I guess I sorta wanted 2.2 to solve that problem. I know there is a way of doing it, I just need a simpler way. One that doesn't involve diving into the matrix, just to put an app on a card.

there's no easy way out, rooting is the tool and the easy way out, and flashing a new rom also....alot of apps for root require SU and z4root will install SU.

But you have to be on stock which means all the bloatware is back on there and with the update, strong possibility that some more will be added, until the dev gets their hands on it and clear everything up, like they did with icarus which was modified from 2.1 with tweaks and stuff.
 
I think I understand what you mean. I guess I would improve my phone with the icarus if I knew how to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

if you have cwm install on the phone, you can use your browser and download the rom straight to the phone, and boot into recovery mode and flash the rom that you downloaded.

I'm pretty sure I had the same usb driver issues untill I downloaded and installed some drivers from the huaweidevice.com website.

Never said you were complaining about your phone (sorry if you took it that way) I was just saying if an upgrade cost us $10 (for metro pcs labor) to install the 2.2 rom its still not a bad deal. I think the Ascend is a great phone and I truly enjoy these forums. I am new and I appreciate all the info I received from this site. Again my apologies if you thought I was rude...:D

Thing is that prolly at corp stores only, not the dozen and a half authorized dealers on every corner. The AD stores do good to know wtf a phone is much less have a clue how to flash one.

Two I dont need them to flash my phone, just need the rom. So you see theres a few flaws in metro's thinking if they want ppl to bring their phones in for a update when they dont have the people to do it.

And if you'd pay Metro $10 to install their bloated version, then why not pay all these devs to install the custom rom? or for their time working getting these custom roms working???
 
Paying for something free is foolish.. Not to mention the fact I pay metro $93.00 a month and paid over $400.00 when I bought mine and my wifes Ascends. So.. $600.00 so far.. And I should pay another $20.00 on top of that for a free upgrade for both phones? I think I'd have to pass.
