Hated, in what sense? The FOV? or console "feel"

I think Skyrim has these problems to some extent but I found myself surprised by hiw little they bothered me. I had to adjust the settings a bit to get something that looked really nice and ran like buttah.

But overall the controls feel pretty smooth. Like they took the best of Oblivion and the best of Fallout, and put it together.

I guess the main difference is that it's not really possible to play things slouched half-vertical in your chair on a PC :p

You probably already know, but entering 'fov XX' in the console will let you change it.

this sucks the lag is getting worse now, and I can barely play the game anymore. if i pick up a book i have to reboot my PS3, loading pages take 10+ minutes, water has textures missing randomly all over the map, lag spikes, and worst of all to loot a corpse I have to save first reboot and then loot them otherwise im not given the option. looks like im shelving this game until a patch comes out:( sucks too I just started the dark brotherhood and stormcloud(i think thats their names in this one) quests

EDIT: Note: my save file is now closed to 11mb's and im at close to 50 hours of gameplay, so the size almost doubled to get this bad.

Was Never a fan of using keyboard, though that hasn't been a problem with old republic so far. Probably need a good gaming mouse for real

I agree, there are some games which work much better with a controller (3rd Person stuff springs to mind), but for me most FPS type games work better with a Keyboard and Mouse.

If you're looking for good gaming mouse, you won't go far wrong with the Logitech G9 IMO.

A patch is imminent according to IGN.

I hit a bug too. Without going into spoilers, a while ago an NPC told me to meet them somewhere as part of a quest. I forgot about it for a good long time, and finally came back to carry on the quest yesterday. Except... the NPC is still where I left her, and no amount of dev console trickery can get her to move.

lol I actually didn't, but the FOV isn't bothering me, so I guess it's fine.

I usually go desperately hunting for a FOV ini setting or console command when it is irritating me though.

Sadly so many FPS games out there have locked it in binaries nowadays.... even some single player....oO

I've seen stuff like this too. Similar-ish quest

One NPC started to talk, so I pressed E to "talk", and she abruptly cut off her word, then said half a word (also unintelligible), and disappeared

I guess it's best to let NPCs finish what they are saying :D

I have just been exploring random dungeons I run in to. What happens if you clear one out before you actually get the quest to go there?

This has happened to me a few times so far. The first time the quest NPC mentioned that I had already completed the requirement and gave me my reward. The other times I went back to the dungeon/fort and new bandits had claimed it. So I was able to kill them and finish the quest.

Ya thank you. I figured it out the other day. I did find out, some items you can get before you ever talk to the quest giver.. and it bloats up your inventory cause you cant store or drop them....

Try to delete your game data and reload the disk. I know with oblivion gate on the PS3. I couldnt level up my character when I went to sleep in a bed. I deleted the game data and re started the game and it fixed it. I am playing skyrim on the PS3 and not having the problems you are having.

So try to delete the game data and not the saved game files and see if that helps. Cant hurt;)

I have the PS3 version so im not sure if this is an issue on the 360 version, but I've just broken 20hours of gameplay and 6MB save data size, and now my game is about 10x worse than gt5 as far as loading is concerned. It's to the point where i basically have to start the game load my file and wait 30minutes for it to load my file and be playable with out major lag. but once it's going its fine.

but sicne I've put some more time in, thats really my only complaint, whenever something bugs me I find a way around it and it gets better. Except dragons, their too underwhelming, unless theres other enemies.

and finally my best skyrim moment so far. I was walking around the map just roaming around seeing if I can find anything really cool. Stumble upon a giants camp and decide to rush in. Normally I don't have too big of an issue with giants I just kite them with my bow, didn't work as well this time. While kiting apparently a a family of mammoths roamed by as well, accidently aggroed them so now im fighting two giants and a family of mammoths. Giant stomps me and I go flying, dragon comes out of no where and attacks me mid air and I get killed. took a good 5 minutes to fully comprehend WTF had just happened, I believe that was my first death too:(
Oh yes the giants. I ran in to one all cocky thinking easy. Well as he hit me like a golf ball with his club and I am flying through the air at 20,000 feet going mach 3. I said maybe I should avoid them for awhile.

Apparently they promised a patch for all platforms the week after thanksgiving. They didn't mention specifics, but hopefully the ps3 bug will be fixed as part of that.

I'm really enjoying it, xbox 360. Though, I am thinking I may have something similar to the ps3 bug? Which would be weird as it is claimed an exclusive bug.

After about 30min - 1hr, my game will get laggy. I'll have to reboot to solve this.

Also, I ran into a couple of quest glitches and the like, but it's not too big a deal. I'll just have another play through.

---story
A funny little story for my pals here:
One of my followers was following me around, for a good portion of the game. Together, with my enchanted bows and the powerful sword I gave her, we were a forced to be reckoned with. Defeating bandits and trolls when they choose to attack us. I need to get across the map, and not being near a city (for the horse fast travel guy), I decided that a fast travel was in order (with skyrim's visuals, fast travel is something I rarely do, it's just fun wandering around!). So as I go about the city completing a couple of quests things start getting interesting. I notice my partner is nowhere to be found! As I search the town, a dragon appears. Thankfully for the villagers and guards, I over power the beast with my magic arrows (actually it's the bow but whatever). Then, as I wander outside of town I encounter a rude NPC. So I respond in kind (rudely) and he attacks. Now, this is just after I killed a bear that creeped up on me, so I'm wounded and near death, luckily, this man lacks conviction in his action and trembles before my enchanted blade. I do not spare this man.

Now, I look his corpse. Powerful armor and a valuable blade. Oh no, I'm over-encumbered. Without my partner to share the burden with, I am forced to walk (slowly!) to the town. I cannot part with my weapons or newly acquired armor because I'm a bit short on funds after a recent purchase. The snow picks up, I get nervous. Could another beast confront me? Thank the Nine that I make it back to the town and sell off some of that weight.
-- end story.

ok I have a question. I'm old school. I used to love RPG's but in the last few years i've developed an Adult case of ADD lol. So its hard for a game to keep my attention longer than a few weeks...unless its Call of Duty.

I'm going to show my age a little here. I played Y's 1 and 2 on my Turbo Duo :) and Final Fantasy 7 is probably still one of the best games i've played even though that was a long time ago.

My question is would Skyrim be a good RPG for me to jump back into? Would it keep my attention. I need a good game that has a lot of gameplay and doesn't require to be online. Often times i'm on travel and playing in a hotel....in another country so online play is a no go.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Skyrim doesn't require you to be online to play or at least enjoy it to the fullest extent. It does have MASSIVE amounts of gameplay though. I can't really tell you what will keep your attention though, that's entirely up to you. I can say that this game is most definitely worth a purchase and I would assume it will become GoTY.

I think skyrim and my ADHD go along perfectly, I find myself simply wandering around the world having fun that way. and because of how the games played you go at your own pace, you dont have to worry about play time, you can play for 10 hours or 30 minutes at a time.

Do we have patch notes yet? I am loving the game but there are so many annoying glitches.

Just got the patch info at beth's site, but looks like xyro already had that. ;)

I'm hoping this will fix the issues for the ps3 users. I'm sure it's the top one "Improve occasional....", but from what I've read, those poor ps3 users who play >25hrs or so start getting super lag. What a downer.

I was hoping for some quest fixes, but this will do. I'm getting sick of dead dragons re-appearing around whiterun... (the first dragon I killed eventually disappeared, only to re-appear at the whiterun gate - complete with skin!).
