Can you show me where he got an Incredible for $99? Everything I saw said $199 after all rebates, etc.

Anyway I am fine with $200-250 since I will pay $30+ less *per month* compared to Verizon and the phone has better specs.

Best I've seen was in my post a while ago...$199 w/2year contract, minus "New Every Two" of $50 = $149. I would love to know how your friend got $99.

RiverOfIce: 56160 presses, to be more exact (only up to the number of days, however). But yeah, great idea! I'm ready to mash that button like my life depends on it, and remove all of the other keys on my keyboard.

Welcome AM2! The Evo is going to be tough on a lot of wives and girlfriends :D

I believe that the touch sensor for the Evo is reported to be the new Atmel MaxTouch chip:
Atmel Products - Touchscreens - Unlimited Touch, Unlimited Product Possibilities
There is a really nice video on here that outlines the new chip technologies. It should be as good if not better than the Iphone touch screens

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that Atmel made the touch sensor chips for the previous Iphones.

Sprint Posts Wider Quarterly Loss as Customers Flee
Published: Wednesday, 28 Apr 2010 | 7:26 AM ET
By: Reuters

Sprint Nextel posted a wider quarterly loss on Wednesday as it took a hefty tax-related charge and valuable customers continued to flee, and its shares fell nearly 5 percent.

Sprint said it had lost 578,000 postpaid customers who pay monthly bills and commit to long-term contracts, slightly better than the average expectation for 623,574 losses from six analysts contacted by Reuters.

News Headlines

Forgot this little bit of info. ;) Looks as if your anti-sprint when you post slanted info. like that.

"After initially falling almost 5 percent in pre-market trading, Sprint shares turned around and rose 1.7 percent to $4.16 after closing at $4.09 on New York Stock Exchange. The shares have already risen 30 percent since around the middle of February."

In conclusion, I feel that explains the odd 90 MTPS score on the Galaxy. Testing just the GPU independently w/no real world CPU utilization.

Thank you very much Bluescreen. This is what I was thinking also. Sorry you had to suffer through it twice. BUT it might help others who read these types of articles in the future to understand those 4X or 10X faster claims. Oh, the twisted tech lies companies tell people to stay on top...

I agree the Galaxy is lacking in many areas but wanted to use it as an example of what will be knocking at our doors right after the EVO is released( along with many more). As for weight, a 30% diff. considering what the EVO offers is not a deal breaker, I was only pointing out new tech will offer lighter phones and 6 mo. from now the media might use the EVO weight as a negative spin in comparison.

Another Q Bluescreen:
I read that they are attempting to use less steps to accomplish the same task with these new GPU configuration and have to wonder how much of that contributes to the claimed performance increase. Maybe 50% of the increase comes from less steps vs faster hardware per say.

This thread is the only one on the internet with an actual insider with actual information.

Exactly, so can you please keep it on-topic and move all the non-related traffic to The Lounge? Any general questions/answers about the EVO would also be better posted in their own specific thread.

Thanks for your co-operation. Keeping this thread 'lean-and-mean' helps both Android Forums and any other site linking back to it.

All the software that is shipping with the phone is done.. Anything else new will be an update..

The phone is done boxed and awaiting shipment. nothing new can be added unless its an update..

True and False. Software as in Android 2.1 is completed for the device. Build quality testing is still being worked on. The apps customized for 4G is still being tweaked and get updated daily. This phone isn't boxed yet and awaiting shipment, unless you're implying that the EVO production is gold. If the device is now gold, I guess a lot of internal testers didn't receive the memo. It's also foolish that we are in April with a finished device, yet it's coming out in June (rumored of course) The internal testing for the Incredible wasn't completed until 3 days after the release date was announced. Well on my side, at least.

Having said all that, like I said before with Jackson agreeing, Sprint could release the phone in late May if they want to. Change of strategy will need to take place. NYC and LA event WILL have to be mostly about the EVO 4G. Invite the major media blogs to these events, as well the local news. Google I/O is another event you could let this device shine. I'm going to all three events, so I'll get to see what's happening with my own eyes. TV Marketing will need to happen right now, not sometime in June. May needs to be the month of the EVO.

Everything I have ever read from that site is horrible. I can't believe that what they actually put in their stories. I love it when they take their opinion and try to turn it into fact.

This has officially become the most worthless thread on the internet. Can anyone recommend another EVO forum where they don't talk about Mickey, Tyson, or post worthless youtube videos?

As far as actual news (official release dates and the like), I would just keep an eye on engadgetmobile.com. There are quite a few excited folks who read the site and Engadget has made it relatively clear that they're going to give the phone good coverage, so if anything major and verifiable happens, you can bet it'll be there. At this point, I think we're basically just waiting for the official release date.

For forum / discussion type stuff, General Evo 4G Discussion - HTC Evo 4G Forum has been good about avoiding the stuff you want to. No insider posts there that I could see, but because the whole site is dedicated to the EVO (with EVO lounge threads, EVO announcement forums, etc etc), separate questions are put in separate threads which makes the info easier to sift through.

Hope that helps.

I have a Droid Incredible waiting at bestbuy for me =( But im not gonna get it =( Im gonna wait for the damn EVO!!! Just wish I had some glimmer of hope or light at the end of the tunnel to hold on too. No dates No prices NOTHING!!!! Does this phone even exist or is it a figment of my imagination!!!!!

While I agree to a certain extent with what you're saying, I'm insulted that you'd say "this has officially become the most worthless thread on the Internet". This sounds a little like propaganda and makes me think you work for Apple.

I have spent countless hours monitoring this thread and lots of hours trying to make worthy contributions - all because I'm an EVO fan. Personally, I'm proud of this thread and the group we have. Everyday new people are joining the forum and it has grown exponentially. I believe we have one of the better EVO 4G forums on the Internet.

As much as I would love to have a "lean-and-mean" thread, that has been lost now. When I stated this thread, I wanted it to be informational more than social, but with so many new people coming in everyday, it's difficult to control that. I would agree that it's difficult to wade through all the chitchat just to find a few bits of information. That's why I continually update the first post in this thread with links to the latest information. That way, you don't have to wade through the posts to find the information you're looking for. If it's newsworthy, I'll post it there.

I have been discouraged at times because the thread has wondered, but it's very, very difficult to stay on point when there isn't something new to say that hasn't already been said 10 times before, but you can't stop people from talking about this phone. Even if there was a little new information it would make a big difference.

Jackson mentioned there are a few insiders here and more than likely, there are others lurking. I just suggested that Lucan could be an Apple insider (sorry Lucan, I don't mean to single you out. I'm only using you as an example) and if he is, he could be looking for information to derail the EVO. Because of that, I can't blame Sprint for holding back. I think they have to, to keep the mystery and the buzz going.

Lately, there has been a lot of talk about Apple forcing Sprint's hand with the WWDC conference being moved forward. I have to believe that is a direct result of forums like this one posting information about leaked release dates. For weeks now, people have been saying the phone will be released June 6th or June 13th, which is way ahead of the announced "summer" release date and that has played right into Apple's hand. At the same time it has hurt Sprint's position. Think about it...
