Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I think I want to go in store for this purchase....just to have my hand held a bit in case I have a question or two....and want my contacts transferred etc. But since I'm doing the family plan with my wife we will both need to be off from work on release day. I've never been looking for a phone on it's big release day before...so...if I were to pre-order the phone....as I ASSUME I will be able to do....will they hold it even if I don't show up the first day? Btw....whether or not there are lines is open for debate....but it looks like one things for sure....there's gonna be a media blitz that will do this phone justice! I guess it's just human nature that everyone wants to be the first kid on the block with a new phone....and they want everyone else to be envious of their new toy. I'm not totally immune to this feeling....and yet....I just want a great phone that I will be happy with....even when no one is looking! LOL

All they needed it for was cut-a-ways of her signing up for something on the No Phone Zone webpage. People at CTIA were browsing the web so I can almost say without a doubt they sent a Sprint Rep to the show, put the phone in her hands, taped a couple shots of her with the phone in her hand, gave it to her so she could have it in her hands during the show and that's about it.

She's not blogging about it she's not promoting it, she used it for the show cause Sprint was a sponsor. It was on the screen for 5 seconds at the most.

Also do you think this phone will come out with Prince of Persia loaded on it, like the HD2 had Transformer loaded on the SD card? If that's the case PoP doesn't come out till the end of May. I forget how long it takes until the DVD comes out but I couldn't see the Evo having Prince of Persia on the SD card before it's released on DVD.

Any thoughts?

The movie is not out yet and it will most likely ber out when the evo is. Now for it to have a movie that just came out in theaters on the phone, I highly doubt. unless they get some exclusive deal. If that's the case, then ya it is possible. If not that's like bootlegging.
Transformers was already out on dvd.

its very shiney and feels so good in the hands I loved how the htc hd2 felt but this feels better feels just right now I wanan touch a samsung galaxy s
 
It sure would be sweet if they released this phone a little early....to take advantage of the Labor Day weekend. People will be getting together...traveling etc....and will want to have their new toys! Weeee!

There really are no facts suggesting an early release...but intuition tells me it's very possible....very possible!

you could be right we shall see... on another note advocates have them now and sprint is making sure their people actually know more then how to turn the phone on.(since last year on pre day people here had trouble turning it on LOL)
 
So yesterday during my stroll to the mall with some friends(mainly to play with the HD2 again) I went over to the Zagg stand where some guy was getting a protector put on his Hero. I overheard him mentioning how he couldn't wait for the Evo so we basically hit it off from there haha. But turns out he worked for sprint(not sure what position) and I asked him about the EVO and he tells me the release date was going to be June 13-16(Sound familiar?). He sounded really confident about it and it was nice talking to someone that actually knew about the phone. Also for you that aren't due for an upgrade in a while, I asked him about this, and he told me they'll bump it up if you call and complain about their service(He told me he had done it twice this year). I'll most likely end up doing that to get a discount off the phone since my next upgrade isn't until this December since I got the Hero for Christmas. He also told me that the phone was done and they were just waiting to roll out the 4G. I'm sure everyone knows all this but I just found it interesting for further speculation.

I will just add this.. you do realize most sprint employees get release date info the same places we do right? chat reps tell me all the time to check out phone scoop and phone areana and boygenius report and engadget for info lol. In all honesty though only dan Hesse and his staff probably know the real date. Just wish he would tell the people that pay his salary lol

ajac - the Galaxy S Pro is the ONLY reason I have to stop bugging Sprint for an Early-Upgrade. I'm due in September - and it looks like it could be an interesting summer on the Android/Sprint Front!

me 2 I am so tempted if the rumors are true..

samsung Galaxy S (pro) advantages over evo
Rumors are their giving it 4g flavor but who knows
keyboard for the pro version
super AMOLED screen
the processor x 3 more powerful then the evos
the camera not as good but is 720p hd capable.
to bad sprint didnt team up with samsung omg the evo being the galaxy S would have been soo damn awesome

Guess it's time to check out that forum also. My issue has always been a physical kb - which gives the pro a plus. However, my wife tried out the INC, and said that she could actually type on it - so, that may not be an issue.

just had 1 gb but he said thats mainly becasue its coming with an 8gb sd card and becaue android market as of today doesnt support even the internal memory of the incredible so they saw no point in the increase storage.

I had issues typing on the evo but I have big hands to but eventually i learned how to type on my screen of my tp2 so I guess just gotta get used to it. The Galaxy is gonna be a sweet phone I am so tempted... the processing capabilities of it are such a turn on.
 
IDK if this is new nor not, and pardon me if somebody said this earlier, but I just opened my Palm Pre's calendar to look at some dates, and noticed March 23-May 12 have been filled with this regarding the EVO:

If the phone is ready now and the media blitz begins on the 12th at the NYC event, why not release the phone soon after that?

There's a lot of talk going around here saying June 6th or June 13th, but May 22nd has also been rumored. I think it makes more sense than the June release, mostly because of Apple's WWDC conference taking place June 7 - 11.

Do you really think Sprint is going to release the phone in the middle of that event? I don't! If the phone is ready, May 22nd makes more sense as far as being able to capture media attention and buzz. Think about it.

Sprint may have initially been set for an early June release, but the Apple event forces their hand. We're only talking two weeks earlier than originally planned and that's ONLY 3 weeks away! That should be sufficient time (May 12 - 22) for the media to give this a good spin before the phone is released.

Well - it's noce to see that I'm not the only one - will probably start a thread - once I figure out the right place. I guess we would much rather be in this position of having to make a choice, than not having any (viable) options.
