I like the Bulldozer performance for what it cost. I am able to do 4.2GHz without changing anything but the multiplier and it's stable. I can't think of any other processor that is so easy to overclock, my i5 was a bit of a pain at times.

Celeron 300A would do 450MHz easily just by bumping FSB to 100MHz, and it was actually faster than a P-II/450 cuz its cache ran at full speed instead of half. :D

does anyone else find it hard to believe a date of the 21st or 28th is set, and that somehow all of these various store managers know but nothing solid has leaked? i find it VERY hard to believe, with it being only a couple of days away, that if it were in fact going to be the 21st that something wouldnt have leaked by now from multiple, multiple sources. and i dont mean word of mouth, i mean emails, map, internal documents, etc from all across the country.

YankeeDudeL Costco Cellular Kiosk Employee Reports

I 'm not clear if he is Costco or the Cell kiosk.

From what I've gathered, I wouldn't expect the GNex this week or next. If it was we'd have seen it in our inventory lists. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll be at Costco the same time as Verizon. The HTC Rezound is out now, but we still don't sell it (though we will).

He works at the Kiosk. He had many posts in the Bionic Forums and has been around here since at least D1 days. He's a really nice guy and provides accurate info (when he can and is honest about it).

I'm just reading through CNET's review now.

I find it so very interesting that they are finding flaws and faults with the phone that no other review site is mentioning.

About the OS itself: They are saying it lags. They are saying ICS is a "hot mess". Browser experience is "not all that different" (even though most other sites say it is the best mobile browsing experience they ever used)

About the device itself: They are saying it's fragile. Cheap feeling. That they didn't want to drop it for fear of it breaking in half (I guess they felt the all glass Iphone was somehow better for dropping..hmm). They are also saying it won't win any design awards and that it is comparable to Nokia designing "the same phone model after model", and that it's boring.

And I'm sure other things. I kinda stopped reading just because of how unfair and sometimes even downright wrong they are.

Please don't trust the CNET review folks.

I had a friend who works at Verizon tell me this same thing. He told me he didn't see it in inventory, and usually when they reach the inventory list, its usually a 2 week period till they hit the shelves. I am going to my local Verizon tomorrow, where as I said in a previous post, they are having a 7AM meeting about the Nexus, and may be selling/taking preorders as early as tomorrow.

Ah so it was you who mentioned the 7 am meeting regarding the GN. Well report back with any info you received from said meeting ASAP (although we will hopefully already know what we need to know by then)!

Just to add a data point...
While skulking around Frederick, MD this evening I visited an independent Verizon retailer and asked them if they knew anything about the Nexus launch. The woman there very confidently told me that they'd received an email today letting them know that the release had been "delayed til the 28th... not that it'll come out that day for sure, but that's the earliest it might arrive." She also confirmed the $299 price for the single model being sold. They offered to take a preorder... I politely declined.

I'm curious...In the past, have the resellers gotten new phones later than the Verizon corporate stores?

Crazy I am im frederick too. The 3rd party by the mall didnt have rezound yesterday and the 3rd party by movie theatre got some in yesterday.

Corporate store off 40 had live working rezound which is where i bought mine.. I'd go corporate off 40.

Would Verizon pull back my upgrade date if I asked nicely? My contract ends on December 3rd and I really want to order Galaxy Nexus as soon as it's out :(

Nope. I believe that employees sometimes have no clue and it's done intentionally.

Yeah I hope so. I will be staying up for another hour or so to see if anything arises, if not, I guess it is my duty to figure this out!! :)

Since we are talking about our stuff I figured I would get in on the action...

Desktop Stuff
AMD 8-core Bulldozer @ 4GHz, liquid cooled.
8GB DDR3 RAM
Kingston HyperX SSD (sooooooooo fast)
1TB RAID0 Array for media and other stuff.
All in an Antec Twelvehundred case.
I have a DasKeyboard Ultimate for the typing, very good keyboard.

Here are some pictures, in one there are 3 monitors, that is what my setup will look like when I get an eyefinity card. Currently I only have the 2 24" Dell Monitors set up.

IMG_20111014_160126.jpg

Then I also have...
15" Dell Studio Laptop
HP Touchpad 16GB w/ Cyanogenmod
Beautiful 50" Plasma
Xbox 360
PS3

There is a very good reason why I don't have a roommate :D

Oh and has anything changed yet about the Galaxy Nexus coming out on Monday? I was gone for a few hours...

Sort of like mine
2x 24" Asus monitors
core i7-920 (stock 2.4GHz)
Kingston SSD (agreed..so fast)
1Tb Raid0 array for media
cheap graphics card (cheap as in 40$, not integrated)
Linux (Arch/Ubuntu/Linux Mint) (best feature by far)

I do not game, so the stock clock and ok but not high end gfx card are fine for me. They run all 3-D molecule models and nonsensical Matlab scripts just fine. Ironically, the most graphics intensive application I run is a stock market analysis/trade placing software given by my brokerage. (yay for hobbies ) So....yeah....I probably need even less of a graphics card than I have. But I do max out the CPU cycles when I run the models (especially Matlab).

As for my roommate, he does not touch my computers (laptop too). He has his own. However, I do get commissioned to write programs for him, because someone had the ingenious idea that business majors should have to do little to no math and even less programming. People look at me like I am crazy when I say anyone can benefit from having basic programming knowledge, but it is true.

Who knows, that may all be true. We will all need to make our own conclusions (when we finally get to touch the mythical Galaxy Nexus). I, for one, am getting weary in my search for the perfect cell phone. I will buy this thing with no questions asked. ASAP----Please!

It could be that the conflicting info that were are getting is that corporate stores will have it on 11/21 and independent stores will have it on 11/28? Or I could still just be dreaming.

Things have been leaked; promo materials including posters, training materials, etc. and multiple sources pointed to the 21st, not to mention this document from a while ago: Verizon Roadmap Shows Galaxy Nexus Available Online Only 11/21, New XOOM 2 on 11/30? – Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

yea, i get that. but we are getting reports that "store managers and 3rd party retailers" have been told this and that, and are telling this to people on this forum and beyond, yet nothing solid that gives them any credibility. just find it hard to believe with all the hype, if it was in fact the case that it was coming monday with preorder tomorrow(or not), that nothing physical and concrete has shown up to help corroborate their reports

Ha anyone seen the story on droid life about someone buying nexus accessories at a Verizon? They bought the silicone cover and screen protectors.

Are we rally that excited over the purchase of cell phone accessories? I've said it before. Ill say it again. We are sick sick sick people. We need help.
This as I look up at the clock and realize I've been reading this thread for over 2 hours now....

Well considering the fact that Phones4U got the GN before other resellers in the UK it seems likely that it will hit Verizon first (as a priority maybe? Ship to actual carrier and then resellers?)
