***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Oh boy.

Just got off the phone with my sister.

She says that the "bug reports" are BS. Supposedly it's "corporate crap". I asked her what that means, and she said that they are holding back the release because they want to, not because they have to. She says that dates have been set, only to be pushed back again.

She says that yes, the phone is even now still in testing, but most phones are, up until they release. Supposedly they found some bugs but were able to patch them with OTA updates, and even people within Verizon are getting a little pissy about the release date getting pushed back.

One guy told her they want to "maximize" device sales and that SGN will have a good December.

Hopefully that relieves anyone of guilt for 'renting' a phone. It is just business right? ;)

BTW talked to my csr today. I was worried about the double data plan ending (which he confirmed end of the month) before the gnex came out. He said best option is to come in and buy a phone but don't activate it and lock in the double data deal and when the gnex comes out just bring it in and he wont charge any restocking fee either. I thought I would share although no one was really willing to give out some advice earlier, slackers!

So just because I relayed what someone said means that I'm an unreliable person? Jeez all I do is tell you guys exactly what I hear and make my own inferences based on it...

don't worry about it. people are just really anxious for this thing, after waiting for months for it. everyone's more than a little on edge, and their anger is just coming out sideways - at you, unfortunately. don't take it personal - this is an internet forum, and you should feel free to post what you like. :)

Thought about clicking the "show" button, but then figured it was probably full of pics and decided against it...saved my fingers some scrolling action

Read my last post. How about woodraskam? Who also has asked 3 seperate ones who contradicted what the 3 told you? The truth of the matter is, the policy is worded so that Verizon has an out on you if you do indeed go this route and they feel like screwing you. Really want to take that risk given who we are talking about?

My advice is to have anyone planning on this get a note added to their account about it. From what they've told me, they have to honor that. Otherwise, I don't want to argue anymore, and everyone can make their own choices. I'd just say be cautious on this.

I'm done with this. If you feel as though it will work out, then go for it, I'm just relating what I was told by the person, who stood to receive a commission if I would have shelled out $299 today, told me. Feel free to take the risk, I'm merely warning people of the other side. I'm well aware of what the website says, I'm also well aware that it is worded so that Verizon will have no responsibility in the event they decide not to honor it.

It's cool man, I just like to think before I offer any advice to someone on whether or not they get a new phone now or not. I would refer them to the Return Policy page and leave it at that. As we have all learned, anything we hear from a CSR, Store Manager, or even corporate executive is heresy and can't be taken as gospel. It's just better to let people see the facts, and make their own decisions instead of blaming you, or me, in the event they follow the advice, and find out you/I was wrong. Even though the decision is completely up to them, rest assured it will be your/my fault in the forum post, when it all comes to light.

Well I'm thinking of possibly going to my Verizon store and giving in to the Rent-a-Rphone program, but I'm trying to keep myself from doing it... AHHH inner conflict :(

I just got off the phone with another CSR and she CLEARLY stated that the device CAN be returned even if it IS activated up until Jan 15 2012.

I'm getting pretty tempted to pick up a Skyrocket on AT&T and rent it for a month and then return it/cancel service when the Gnex comes out. I have to look into their terms and stuff first though...

Note: I can't keep up with this thread so if I've been ninja'd I apologize for the redundancy. Google said on a windows based pc it works as we're used to, but people on a Mac or Linux based system are out of luck, though they hoped to have a solution shortly. I don't have the link, it was something I read a few days ago. I'm sure its not that hard to find, though

On a Windows box the files should be accessible in Windows Explorer, but they may be presented as a device rather than a drive letter. Also, files can't be edited in-place, which could be a problem w/huge files. Example: To change a few frames in a 2GB video, the whole video must be downloaded to the PC, modified, and then re-uploaded to the phone.

Mac and Linux won't see the device at all until you install the appropriate drivers/apps, which may or may not be reliable and well supported by the developer.

Interestingly the PC or Mac can only see what the phone wants it to see, so there could be invisible files and folders that the phone keeps hidden for its own use.

I'll just add one more thing to this "Verizon as evil" argument and then I'll drop it and do everything I can to restrain myself from commenting further.

I want to hate them, I really do. I just can't. Its not for me to place blame when I don't fully understand their business, what their aims are and what their plans were/are. Anyone else in here can feel free to voice their opinion. Its just a little bothersome when things are presented as fact, or rumors and speculation are used to support a claim being stated in a matter-of-fact way.

I do wish that Verizon would make some sort of public announcement. Even if it were insubstantial it would amount to a great relief in this community I am sure. I'm with you all there. In the end, its their game and we're just waiting to buy the ticket of admission.

Call a rep and ask. I talked to the guy that has treated me great the entire time I've been with Verizon and is always looking to help me. His exact words were "No, unfortunately that wouldn't apply. If you activated the Rezound, you would have two weeks brotha."

If you can get a rep to honor that, then more power to you, but it will not work for the majority and people are going to get hosed on it. Mark my words.

Well, then that CSR is wrong as I have a receipt that states otherwise-also, the agreement I signed for my Rezound, prior to signing, said the same exact thing.
