***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Guys can we please quit the flaming? If you like what someone posts "thank" it. If you don't, be on your merry way to the next post. This is a place for ideas. If someone posts something citing a "source" take it for what it is. If that person's leaks turn out to always be wrong then nature will do the work for you, and eventually people will just stop listening to said person. If the leaks are right nature will act in the appropriate manner. Step back, take a break, and come back soon :) (chimp smile at the left)

Well said, Namrak!

I could be wrong, but I would guess that they would send you a GSM Nexus, not a CDMA one you could use on Verizon. Its still a free Nexus but I think most people here, including myself, want this phone on Verizon.

Well since it will take 12 weeks to get to me, it may be either or, although the VZW ones may not be ready (I kid, but really it might not be the rate we are going!). Regardless, its free and would end up selling it for a nice chunk of change!:D

AFAIK they don't even ship the phones until the very end of the contest and they would probably message the winners asking which one they want.

Good evening, boys and girls. All caught up now on all the recent news (I hope).

Seems that today wasn't a complete wash-out concerning news.

Pretty crappy there wasn't an abundance of news today. I think they (Samsung/Google) messed up by having the announcement in Oct. I think they should have had the announcement this month.

Oh boy.

Just got off the phone with my sister.

She says that the "bug reports" are BS. Supposedly it's "corporate crap". I asked her what that means, and she said that they are holding back the release because they want to, not because they have to. She says that dates have been set, only to be pushed back again.

She says that yes, the phone is even now still in testing, but most phones are, up until they release. Supposedly they found some bugs but were able to patch them with OTA updates, and even people within Verizon are getting a little pissy about the release date getting pushed back.

One guy told her they want to "maximize" device sales and that SGN will have a good December.

See its all about bean counters, counting beans.... or flipping pie charts.

Not sure if I am missing something here but in regards to the volume bug with 2g radios. Which does look like a HW bug to me because it can be activated by another phones 2g radio in close proximity. Since the problem is with the volume rocker being activated by the 2g, unless the verizon version uses a different volume rocker design shouldn't it result in the same bug?I mean just because the radios in the phones are different doesn't mean the bug is missing or somehow fixed, it just means that potentially the CDMA radio wont generate it? but if you put it next to a gsm phone the result wouldn't be the same? I really don't know how these radios function but it seems like the bug would still exist.

i think (and i'm not totally sure this is true) that the phone has to be running on a 900mHz network to have this issue, which verizon does not have

I've seen it in there, but I was wondering if an insider can confirm that. I was trying to convince myself that it couldn't be so. That maybe one of the "agreements" between VZW and GOOG was that they'd show the apps in the VZW version of the videos. :(

I don't see why they would put the apps in the video if they're not actually going to be on the device...

I literally just talked to a rep 5 minutes ago.

Care to vet your opinion?

I've talked to 3 different reps now...When I explain in very simple terms, "If I were to activate today, would I be able to return on Jan. 9th" I've always gotten the "14 days from Activation" line

Edit: I'm not saying it's impossible to get the return period for Jan. 9th, but if I was in that situation, I'd damn sure have them put a note on my account assuring it.

Let me preface this by saying I'm not trying to jump your case, I just don't want anymore confusion on it.

You only have 14 days from the date of ACTIVATION of the handset to return it. The extended return only applies to "gift" handsets that are not activated.

That being said, if Dec. 8 is the day, it wouldn't be smart to rent a Razr/Rezound now.

This is simply not true. Please read from Verizon's site the policy. The only thing that has changed about their policy is that you have till the 15th of January to return the device.

Return Policy - Verizon Wireless

May I highlight the following text for those of you who are confused:

"Purchases made between November 15 and December 28, 2011 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2012. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless’ Return & Exchange Policy continue to apply, including Restock Fee."

So just because I relayed what someone said means that I'm an unreliable person? Jeez all I do is tell you guys exactly what I hear and make my own inferences based on it...

If I felt you really were just relaying information you have "actually" heard, I would not bring it up and thank you for your sharing. However, everything you "relay" appears to be complete fabrications for attention which completely hold no water and are always stated as fact. Like when you said you supposedley know some Verizon manager who is definitely getting in a shipment today or tomorrow and will sell you one as soon as he gets them in.

After what my sis just told me, I gotta admit, a little.

I love that they shipped me out a Dinc2, and I can't fault them for trying to make the most money possible; after all, they are a corporation.

But yeah, it does bug me.

I just hope that December 8 doesn't get pushed back like other dates.

:(

Is there anyway you can ask your sister if the Double Data will extend into December???

Thank you very much! And bonus points for an adorable puppy.
Hes no puppy lol, hes around 7. Hence the grey beard. Couple of other things to note, the haptic feedback is really nice. Not strong, just enough to make you aware you are pressing buttons. Notification LED glowed all the colours of the Nexus rainbow when lit, dont know if its a bug, but when i set the Friendcaster notification light to blue it showed up perfectly.

Everything seems really well put together. Unified is the term i would use. Folders are really intuitive. This could be the first Android phone that felt 'complete'. Maybe not iPhone complete, but certainly a hell of a lot better than previous iterations.

I got my info from a chat with a Verizon CSR, a phone call to Verizon and a trip to Verizon. There have also been photos posted on here where people picked up a phone, had it activated and the receipt clearly says they have until 1/15/2012 to return it.

This makes no sense to me no matter who says it or how many times it gets said. Lets say VZW has 1000 customers and 500 of them are going to be buying new phones in the near future. 250 are going to buy a RAZR and 250 plan on buying a Gnex - both @ $299 on new contracts. That's $150K. If only 1 person bought the Gnex and 499 bought the RAZR ... that's still $150K!

I know people think VZW and Moto are BFFs and try to help each other out but this is business. Do you really believe that VZW will go against what's best for itself in order to help out Moto? If you do, then you really don't understand how business works.

The problem is that Verizon signs contracts to carry each phone and based on said contracts they draw up their business plan with estimates of how many they're going to sell and when. To go along with those estimates they have a real expensive marketing campaign. At the end of the product life cycle, they want to look back on the Razr and say "we estimated we would make X dollars and actually made Y dollars." If Y is less than X then people aren't doing their jobs.

If Verizon were to release the Nexus tomorrow then when Joe Consumer goes into a Verizon store on Black Friday and asks their rep what the best phone is, they very likely walk out of the store with a Nexus rather than a Razr.

I had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard. My co-workers were giving me funny looks when I was laughing out loud. :D

Mine too. And I am now gonna have to post from the app all day every work day cause the IT guy doesn't like my usage report. I hate to admit, I laughed at him. My spanking is now complete. This is not the first i've gotten in 14 years with the company and its guarantee it won't be the last. :D
