Oh yeah 1 final note. Think about all those applications that have to be made compatible with ice cream sandwich.. I would say that that is a very good reason for the delay.

I had a smaller screen phone before (had the crappy ally for a bit), and that was 3.0 inches and then went straight to a 4.3 inch screen and I thought it was great, but I get that not everyone will like a bigger screen. What happened with me though was after a week or two I picked up my old phone and couldn't believe how I dealt with a screen that small lol.

Yeah, and to be honest, I went from a BB pearl to the HTC Incredible, and that was probably a bigger jump (% wise) than the Inc to the Nexus... :)

Which apps? If you're talking about My Verizon and BUA, then those are probably already done.

So, figures, I leave for a couple of hours, and this place has a bunch of fun. So, looks like December 1st at the earliest huh?

I've been a lurker here for about the last 200 or so pages, I've gained about 6 pounds from all the popcorn loaded with butter I've been eating. I've stopped watching TV completely since I've started following this thread.

This is the best thing going!

Go!!!!

Welcome! Sorry to hear about the weight, I recommend th C25K app on the market to lose it, once you get your Nexus ;)

I don't have much hope for 12/1. I still think 12/8 is the soonest, and that the previous release dates were probably accurate at some point, but VZW can't figure out when the heck they want to release the phone, so the date is continuously subject to change. I'm hoping 12/8, but I have a feeling it may be delayed yet again. I can't find the exact tweet from P3Droid, but he hinted at another push of the date last night. I hope he's misinformed.

Newt Gingrich just stated Apple changes technology every 9 months and compared it to something frankly I don't care about.. Lol

Apple adds an app that was already out and it changes technology... ill be darned.

welcome to the madhouse!

Did anyone else look at that and wonder what he was doing with pearls for me??

P3Droid is not the greatest source for release date info.

OK folks, talk me off the ledge...

The $0.01 Rezound looks damned enticing right now.

Things I am taking into consideration...

1. Layoffs coming next week (rumor). If I am let go, I could still get a great phone for a penny. If I lose my job and miss that deal, I'll be holding on to my iPhone and won't get the G-Nex anyway.

2. Double Data promo. If indeed it does end on 11/30, this would get me the extra data on my plan.

3. Talked to Amazon, they don't do exchanges...OK, sometimes they do a 1-time thing...but, they can't guarantee that. Of course, I believe Amazon to have the BEST customer service around. I have been a "Prime" member for quite a while now and buy quite a bit of stuff from them. Still, there is a chance, probably 40% or so, that I wouldn't be able to exchange for the G-Nex if I keep my job and have the $$ to spend on it.

3a. If I can't exchange (and still have a job), I *might* be able to sell a 2-week old Rezound for enough to help offset the off contract cost of the G-Nex... how much do you think someone could get (I see one auction of $355 on ebay right now).

3b. Rezound will be getting ICS, if I am "stuck" with it, the only reason I would be disappointed would be that I was set on the Nex. It is a nice phone, so, I could live with it for 2 years. (on this front, I sure would like to see some info on ICS running on a phone with actual buttons, seems like it will be awkward at best)

Random thoughts of a tech geek. Anyone care to push me off the ledge or talk me down?

Like technology in general? Like all of technology in the world? Apple? Darn, and I liked the guy too.

So now that there are lots of reviews (of the GSM version, anyway), how are people feeling about the size? I have to admit, I keep going back and forth.

I like my 4" Fascinate, and I've always thought 4.3" was borderline too big. When I first heard the GN was 4.65", I wrote it off completely. But then I realized that was a bit deceptive because of the extra real estate from the disappearing buttons, and decided it was probably OK. I even made a cardboard mockup of the phone to see how it felt in my hand, and it seemed OK.

But the reviews I've seen so far have been really inconsistent. Some say it doesn't feel any bigger than a 4.3" phone, while others say it's ridiculously huge.

I'm going to buy it either way, and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I have to admit I'm feeling a little bit anxious about whether the size is going to bother me. I'm most likely going to order online as soon as it's available, so I probably won't even have about opportunity to see it in person until I unbox my own.

Somebody reassure me...

I'm in the same boat. I'm torn between the much better resolution and screen size (especially for video playback, I watch a lot of stuff on my phone). But I am also concerned about going from the 3.7" Dinc screen to the Gnex screen. I found a web site that will show you an overlay of phone sizes, and the change in size is pretty significant. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but it still is going to be quite an adjustment.

I have to tell you that it took all of 4 days for me to get used to the width and length on the RAZR, coming from a Samsung Rogue. That is not going to matter in the least. The battery is a different story. I can't wait to get rid of this RAZR that runs through battery like Cookie Monster at a Toll House factory.
