Morning sexy Nexians. I woke up late and did a speed read of the last 50 posts or so. BabyBlues is sad that I do not have a nice big piece of beautiful ice cream sammich coming to me today. But i am happy I'll be with you guys for another week.

Play nice!

Morning BB! I love your avatar today. Always partial to sexy santa's helper :D

Hopefully Google getting the word out that they're not happy will get Verizon to get a move on. What I can't figure out is why Verizon would want to piss off Google. With the Moto/Google deal Google could decide to kill off the Droid line of Moto phones eventually if they got frustrated enough dealing with Verizon. Its extreme, but a possibility. Would you want to put up with these shenanigans with every launch?

Good(ish) morning all. I swore I wouldn't be on here before my flight, but here I am, waiting to board, unable to control myself.

Safe flight my fellow addicted Nexian

You in the market for a smartphone or a camcorder?

Considering phone manufactures have been adding video recording for awhile now I would say that a camcorder is part of and expected for a SMARTPHONE. So one would expect a good camcorder.

I didn't know there wasn't any image stabilization. I'm kinda disappointed in that.

I can't see any way the flood gates open today...

I seriously hope the "Buy Now" button was a jab at Verizon from Google...
I would think that, behind the scenes, Google has to be very frustrated with the way Verizon has handled it's flagship phone.

I missed a jab at VZW by Google? Aww man. :/

Thanks! Since I happened to stumble across her I wanted to change the avatar again. Solution was to put the Verizon one in my signature. That way it's with us till launch

Very happy I picked up an Iphone 4S last week given the debacle this entire thing has been. I was waiting for this phone and still may pick it up eventually sometime next spring but I'm loving what I got now!

If you're going to wait until then you may as well wait for the gsiii to come out. Nexus will be lagging behind other new phones by then.

The more sample videos I watch, the more the camera seriously disappoints me.

When he moves the camera in this video, there is a wave effect that awful. Someone commented a few pages back, and I believe this is referred to rolling shutter?

I would rather have 360p video without the wave effect than 1080p video with the wave effect.

Agreed, from what I've seen so far, the video the Nexus shoots is a Jelloy mess. Thankfully I don't do much video, so when I do, I'll just have to remember to keep my camera steady, or else bust out my real camera. I hope I hope I hope that there's *something* they can do in software to correct this, but rolling shutter is a hardware constraint.

For what it's worth, it's present in "that other phone," too, but I've got to admit that I haven't watched a bunch of sample vids (like I have with the Nexus) so won't bother to make any comparisons or excuses for either camera. One thing I know for sure: it bothers the heck out of me when I see it, and even a lot of purpose built vidcams have it (GoPro, Lookxie, Contour).

Yeah that is true. Whatever is available on VZW I guess. Though honestly, going from a Droid Bionic to an Iphone 4S has been a dream come true so far.

besides the fact that last week they begged me to use the upgrade on the razr and told me its just as nice as nexus that they "have no info about" If you go to their website now, under phones, if you choose the android, touchscreen 4g options, they only have 1 phone that meets that criteria....lol Heck if you just choose android and touchscreen, there's only 3 phones that come up and 1 is out of stock

Is it a mess at all settings or just 1080p?

I wouldn't be surprised if some 3rd party camera app comes out that improves on the video recording at some point... if this phone is ever released. :)

You're preaching to the choir my friend. If it goes beyond the end of the month I am taking an ETF and heading elsewhere as well. As for the re-flashing not making sense, if that was all you got from the post, I agree it wouldn't make sense.

I was merely trying to throw some ray of hope or wiggle room for the thing not being indefinitely pushed back or cancelled entirely. It's one of those deals where you really hope there is a solution that even remotely fits what you want to hear but deep down, real world experience tells you that there really isn't a positive scenario with what we know (or don't know) at this point in time. :)

My contract is up on 12/23. At that point, if this phone has not been released, I am going to have to think long and hard about staying a Verizon Wireless customer. Even though I have been with VW since my first cell phone 10+ years ago - I don't think I could stay with VW after this debacle. It's not a matter of the delays and the arguments as to whether or not there really was a delay (not made public) - it is the fact that they have not said anythong to their customers about this situation in nearly 2 months when they know this phone is a factor in people's holiday shopping decisions. If it gets close enough to Christmas - I personally won't want to spend $300 on a phone with all the money my wife and I will need to spend for Christmas presents for the family. I will probably wait til after the New Year to buy a phone, even if Verizon releases this phone on 12/23.

So, what're the odds that ATT or any other provider's LTE or 5g or whatever network we're using in 2 years will be caught up to Verizon's network? I'm going to stick around for this phone since Verizon is clearly the best network, but when this contract is up I want out. Bad. Here's to hoping the rest of the industry catches up by then.

Depends on what you look for in a phone... If you want hardware, then yes, the phone will be outdated. However, if software/OS is what you seek, this phone will be the frontrunner for a long time
