***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I wish we could get the actual reasons at some point, even if after the fact. I'm trying to think of what could happen where they would decide on the 9th then back off two days before. All I can come up with is there is some quota that they want to hit prior to release, thought it would happen this week but still need a few more days.

OK here's the skinny...

I went to buy the phone thinking there's no way I'm walking out of this store with it. The activation went through just fine but they couldn't ring up the sku.

So they hand wrote a purchase agreement and copied my credit card (they were assuming they could run it later today when the sku was active) they never got word from their boss stating anything different from the 9th as being the launch date.

When I got home and pulled the phone out of the box I seen they called & texted, they were frantically trying to reach me of course I knew it was it was all about.
I consider these people friends and wouldn't want to see them fired. I am unemployed right now and I realize how tough it is out there.

but here is the good news...When I called Verizon to make certain that my upgrade eligabity was reset, I explained to the rep what happened. The Verizon rep was very forthcoming and told me that Verizon has not deleted the Nexus from their info guide but only hidden it, she says the release date is there and it's the 15th. I asked how she knew this and she said she really wants the Nexus so she went digging and found it, of course we all know that could change, but I don't doubt the rep for 1 second (and I usually doubt everything) that the 15th is the target date.

If I were you I'd talk to the manager when you get there and tell him that you'll hand over the phone only if the rep who sold you the phone keeps his job. Otherwise, it's no deal, and you'll go to the blogs about it and get HIM fired.

Keep the phone in the glove compartment of your car until you get the okay.

I still believe that this is purely a delay in stocking levels. I dont think VZW is happy with how many units are in the store's hands.. I dont care that all the Corp stores have them, all of the other 3rd party sellers or whatever they are called need them too. If we are hearing that some stores are JUSt receiving them today, there is no way a phone with this much hype should be released..

And this, ladies and gentelemen, is why Verizon is pure evil. If there were any doubts, there's your proof. They don't care about their customers. They are deliberately delaying this phone for no other reason than to boost their bottom line.

Sounds like business to me. As much as I want the phone, I'll not be reduced to thinking a company is "pure evil" even though you probably meant that in a not so literal way (I'm too literal at times :p).

You're also taking Stevens source as fact (no offense Mr 58) and that to me, is being optimistic. So your being optimistic right? :D

He already returned it.

Yes! I'm concerned returning it alone might not be enough.

It's pure evil for a company to try to boost its bottom line? Isn't that the whole point of having a company?

No, it's not, at least not entirely. It's to provide a service to its customers while also making enough profit to stay in business and expand that business so you can better serve your customers and possibly reach more customers. Yes, I realize a company needs to make money. But believe it or not, some companies actually care more about doing what's right for their customer base than making gobs of money. If you make your customer happy and keep them happy, you WILL make money.

I'm starting to regret not getting the HTC device for $50 from Costco when I had the chance.

My thought is that when stores start sending the GN's back to the warehouses... then that is the time to go Rezound. Otherwise it can't be that long... they won't let the merchandise sit there very long without being sold. Sending it back would indicate major hardware bug or major legal battle.

To everyone who keeps giving ultimatums and posting "I'll buy an iPhone if it's not out by this date" rants....

Why? What's another week when you're going to have the phone for 20 months minimum (in most cases)?

Is it just that you don't see much advantage to the GN over the iPhone?

Please don't take this as an attack. I'm just curious.
