Some interesting insight into VZW corporate stores and who gets what pre-release information...

Also, most reps are not lying to you. This is how it works. The document I posted is from OMM, which is Verizon's marketing department for corporate. OMM sends out emails to select OMM-specified reps in each store, but also has an internal system accessible only by these designated reps. Each store has to keep up with the various signage/poster/floorset/display changes and to do this they assign ONE rep per store to the OMM duties. My boyfriend is the rep in his store who is assigned. His store is an A store and is the largest volume store in our district. He has 22+ reps in his store. NONE of them get the emails he gets except him. Not even his managers. This is why 99% of reps AND managers are clueless. Only the OMM rep has release information ahead of time.

So if you call or go in to a store and get anyone but the OMM rep, you'll get inaccurate information. If you do get the OMM rep, he/she may lie or withhold information. Most reps, however, simply know nothing until the day of. Which is why it's so funny to me to watch you people call up your VZW stores or waste your time driving to them. No one is going to tell you anything. If they do, it's inaccurate. The reps saying sorry, no release this week or next have NO CLUE what is going on. I GUARANTEE IT. Most know nothing, and the one per store who does will not tell you anything. Sorry.

Further, the OMM rep has unique passwords/logins to access OMM that CANNOT be shared, so even if he wanted, other reps are not allowed to just go look up information in OMM. FYI, OMM is more up to date than any other internal, proprietary system.

Asked the rep about getting a Galaxy Nexus. He said it comes out the 15th, which is tomorrow. I asked if they have any in stock and if I could get one tomorrow then. He said yeah we have them we just have to wait until tomorrow. Took my name down and I'll be there when they open at 9am to buy it.

Seems official to me, he actually typed something into the computer before saying the 15th (I heard it in the background). I am now relaxed and confident I'm getting a GNex tomorrow morning!! :D:D:cool:

Nice. I hope everyone that wants one, gets one tomorrow(Except Packer fans, and Cowboy fans,.....and Buckeye fans too, and.... :D).

There has been talk about the Nexus being a soft launch when it does launch. If I recall, the original Droid launched the same day as the Eris, Droid had lots of advertising and Eris had none prior to launch.

I have seen more several times two devices launch on the same day and only one being promoted.

Yuck. Yep definitely happy about getting vanilla ICS. I don't understand why manufacturers just don't get it. Apparently VZW does at least a little in that a selling point for the SGN is that it has stock android.

Yes I remember going to check out other phones and seeing the Bionic .. when I asked the CSR about it he simply said "yes it just came in."
 
The boston stores still claim it is not coming out tomorrow and they have no stock. Heck they don't even know about the whtie razr which was already announced (and they claim to not have any of those either).
 
Hi everyone, this is my first official post here (an obvious lurker) and wanted to share some fresh details from NY.

Called a corp. store and said I'd like to set up an appointment early tomorrow morning -

"what would it be for?" the associate said
"to buy the Galaxy Nexus"
she had to put me on hold to check with her manager.

"thanks for waiting. we unfortunately are not taking appointments for buying phones but you can walk in and buy it in the morning."

"the Galaxy Nexus?"

"yes"

I REALLY hope nothing gets pushed back again and hope everyone here gets their hands on this beauty come tomorrow.

After awhile of bs talk he was getting off shift/leaving. I went to go buy some stuff.. on my way out he pops up right next to me and says "Just got word from my operations girl, the 15th is a go!"

I nearly died, this guy runs 5 corporate stores in the area.. seems like a good guy. He "admitted" (take for what it's worth) that he knew they were debating to kick it back another week (NEXT Thursday).

But he JUST got the word. He said "well I guess I'll see you Thursday.." He sure will.

So, I called said BJ's just now and got a regular rep. He said he had no information, checked his system and said he had no inventory. I told him "x told me tomorrow is a go" "well I don't have any of that information sorry yada yada"

Called a couple different stores, told me the same thing. However one store confirmed he did have stock and it is "suppose" to be tomorrow but he hasn't heard word either. Neither has his manager.. he was a chill nexus bro like ourselfs dying to get one.. so no (official) word at this store.. but he said to call back tonight/latest they would know is when he comes in tomorrow morning.

That's real helpful.. lol
